    I struggle a lot with scketching and feeling insecure about my anatomy knowledge. Watching you use references of anatomy tutorials makes me realize that it's okay to go back to the basics even if you have already drawn the same thing 100 times.

      That's true! I have so many neglected and dropped, unfinished sketches which just look bad, but i am not attached to them, so I quickly move on from one to another until something is to my liking :)

      when jazz musicians practice, say a lick they would practice that lick in every key until they can play comfortably thus remembering it, then they practice knowing where to play that in real songs
      there is no guess work it's all been practised probably thousands of times, then they could probably change it how ever they want, it this is true the more things you remember that way
      when you study enough to have a good solid understanding you find yourself being able to know where things are in perspective

      samee bc when I try to draw anatomy, torso turns out very short and the character looks very short lol (the legs are much longer than the torso in my art or sometimes legs are shorter than the torso and it just looks bad)

      There’s this large misconception that you shouldn’t use reference or is frown upon. In a production environment you will use any means necessary to get the job done. Photo bashing, scans, personal photos it’s all fair game. The client will not care. So use what ever is needed to get you to improve.
      I work in games and have done art and design and I spend hours looking for the right reference for what I need. Now that I’m in design I’ll spend days and sometimes weeks gathering ref. For buildings, interiors, exteriors, it’s all ref. based. So don’t let people shame you during you growth.

      A cool thing to do for less rigid images is like, before even putting your forms/anatomy in place, thinking of "the flow" "direction" and "focus point" of your image.
      Avoid pure straight lines for the skeleton/body, bend them a bit in direction of the flow- it's about combining gesture with anatomy I guess I could say !

    I always gotta remember to study, study, study. Anatomy, perspective, foreshortening etc if I want to get better. And it's nice to know that it's never a bad idea to keep many anatomy references nearby, even if I think I understood some parts of it.

    • @Josh_u

      Yeah same. When I first started Art last year and this year, I had no knowledge of Anatomy except head, hand, and legs anatomy. I didn’t really think much of Anatomy until I started to think, “You know if I ever want to draw a full body portrait, I might need to practice and study anatomy.”

    I never thought I needed this 😂
    The way you connect the neck and shoulders to the ribs/upper torso makes it look really… understandable. like at 8:24 I know what’s going on with the body and the planes/sides? are well defined and would make shading a long easier… also would make drawing the pose so much easier…
    Really helpful, I might be finally able to draw more interesting/dynamic poses without it looking like they dislocated their shoulder :D

    • @kurohshiro
      @kurohshiro  Год назад +15

      I know this is just really really rough and just inspired by realistic anatomy but sometimes you don't need more to be able to draw a character. Sometimes trying to include too much actual anatomy with muscles and bones isn't helpful at all and makes a pose stiff, so i rather follow a smooth and aesthetic looking form than how it should be ^^' Thanks a lot for your comment!

    1. The video has extra detailed step-by-step subtitles.
    2. The video shows the audience how you use refs.
    3. Share the brush you are using.
    4. BGM is a song I like (in this case, Kota San - Ofshane).
    However, the few things I don't like is that I don't understand anything about the language in CSP and this video is pretty short for me.
    I swear I just found this channel by accident and I can't control my hand, it presses the Subscribe button by itself. No matter what the future holds, hopefully you will still maintain the first 3 of the 4 great things above. Thanks.

      hmm i never thought of that. I don't have a backup, i save it to my desktop so if my laptop dies I am fucked lol But i share my pieces when they are finished with my drive account to be able to post them..but thats just at the very end ^^

    is so cool to see you sketch, i could watch you for hours
    few questions if you don't mind :
    how are you nailing proportion ? and perspective ? i feel like a little perspective makes the poses so much more interesting but it's so hard to doo
    also how are you making the characters look like different person's while keeping the same artsyle?

    • @kurohshiro
      @kurohshiro  Год назад +1

      Actually i am not nailing perspective, it's sometime I really struggle. I need to work on this. Proportions come with time, by repetition.
      hmm..the second question is quite tricky because I can see with my own art that the likeliness of a character changes sometimes depending on the head angle, so i am not quite consistent with this, but again, this comes by repeating the same things over and over again and look for the things you enjoy (enjoy working like this).

    What art school did you go to? If you didn’t go to art school could you share what you used to learn to draw? I’ve been having trouble with my art lately and wanna learn to draw in a style similar to yours
