  • Hey!✨
    This is my new video showcasing my 8 favourite tips for making lineart.
    The lineart is one of the most important parts for my stylized anime illustrations. So I wanted to share my methods and tips with you. I hope it provides some sort of help!
    These tips come from someone who isn't able to work clean. I wanted to show that you don't need godlike skills and a calm hand to make an effective lineart for your illustrations :)
    Note that these are tips based on my art style, so of course these rules aren't universal, but they help me in this process^^

    7:02 Thank you!! There is litterally no one explaining this so well. I been trying to asking people for years but they just do it intuitive. Having no lines on the parts that are highlighted or at the direction of the light and heavier on crosslines is so helpful advice

    Hello Kuroshiro! I just have to say, your art is a big inspiration of mine. I absolutely love it, both your tutorials and your art are outstanding. However, I’ve been struggling on both eyes in general and facial anatomy. I want to make art like you do, but I always feel stuck on those aspects. Could you please- if you can, make a tutorial on how you’ve grasped your facial anatomy/how you make eyes like you do? I really appreciate your hard work. I’ll be looking forward to another upload of yours!

    Honkai star rail too? That’s neat
    I didn’t really need this because I don’t draw lineart, but I like the tip of not making lineart too refined. Lineart used to be the process that took wayyy to much of my time so I thought I’d just delete from ever being done lol.
    I don’t know anything about pressure sensitivity, line weight the like before watching this video but it seems to make your art look better, I should try it someday 😂
    Also where on earth do you find your references man I don’t see those everyday on Pinterest (ಥ_ಥ)

      Yeah..I joined the hype haha
      Right, it might not be the case for all people. Like some styles are heavily based on a sharp and strong lineart. But I like it to blend in with the illustration, but is still visible. And I try my best to avoid time consuming stuff haha
      I fed my pinterest algo for over 4 years, so it knows what I want to see. But once you start finding one good ref you will find more and more. Actually I might do a video on how to find nice refs^^ But looking for 'sukajan' 'japanese modern fashion' 'japanese tech wear' and stuff like this will lead you to the right things :)

    what is your usual canvas size you work on? what i struggle the most is deciding the canvass size because in some sizes the lineart pen will lag, or even look low res.

      I used to work with 2700 x 2300 at 300dpi, now i work with 3700 x 3300, same dpi. I like that format and its not too much for my slow laptop :)

    Can you please share the settings you have on the gloaming brush on Procreate?? I don't have CSP and I'm struggling so much to find a lineart brush TmT I changed it as you said but it doesn't look like yours in the video. I understand if it's too bothering to share the info so it's ok if you don't want to! Thanks for the tips in the video too!!

    • @kurohshiro
      @kurohshiro  11 месяцев назад

      It's the standard setting without any changes :) I just hopped into Procreate for this video, so i used what it has to offer :)
      For the CSP brush, I am not sure, I updated it recently to match the new settings. I think a really big change comes depending on the pressure sensitivity curve I use (CSP and Tablet driver, both smooth)

    Your content is such a gem - I've started getting back into drawing recently after not doing so for years. I felt like I was at a standstill and didn't exactly know how to improve, in addition to just life getting busier. Deeply appreciate how detailed your tips are, as I feel like it answered questions about my art that I didn't even know I had. Knowing how to create art is one thing, but being able to explain your choices shows how deeply you understand this process, and how intentional your choices are. I've decided to pick up the tablet pen again. Thank you!

    gotta say your tips for lineart are great, but i realised that having the lineart at lower opacity allows the colours to go in the lines during the colouring phase which makes it harder to colour and makes the lines look ugly when multiple colours go in, is there any way to avoid this?

    Hello kuro senpai great tutorial thanks for sharing your knowledge. I couldn't catch your drift on the hair part how did you modify the brush so that it only has lines outside of the silhouette? Liebe Grüße von alphawolfin

      Hey! It's a layer setting: window -> layer properties -> there you can add the stroke (little round circle symbol) :) Hope that helps!

    how do you change the lineweight so easy? no matter how light or hard i press on the tablet it always looks stiff

  • @GuranPurin
    @GuranPurin 11 месяцев назад

    I think I may need to practice not inking every single line from the rough. Sometimes I have so many extra lines that just look awkward once I add the color, like muscles and things like that. So that means I need to get better at coloring folds and skin!

    • @kurohshiro
      @kurohshiro  11 месяцев назад +1

      Oh good luck then! But that's true. A sketch usually tend to look less stiff and more lively because there are many lines describing the same thing, so our brain chooses the best looking one, so a sketch tends to look better than a line art for my art process personally
