I love loVE LOVE how messy and unfinished your drawings are for this lesson. A lot of other art teachers will show a completely finished or at least cleaned up sketch and it becomes so daunting because I don’t know which aspects of the art to focus on for what I am trying to learn. In this way I can completely focus on the concept of what you’re teaching and not the difference in skill or art style we both have
@@torakfett3351 do you draw one eye first and then the other? If yes, try something else instead: draw them simultaneously, first do the placement of each eye, then do the iris of each eye, then the eyebrows (or whatever order you prefer) and so on. That generally makes it easier.
??? It's about drawing two or more characters in a scene, so of course it's gonna be predominantly artists that draw those things a lot, and most of those people are going to be shippers of some kind
After watching this video and looking at the comments, its shows just how important visual character interaction is, like we literally know nothing about Bob and Mark and people in the comments are shipping them and Ill be honest I also ship them lol. Great video
Honestly, the way my characters' anatomy works has made it kind of hard to make them "touch", but as soon as this was almost over, I started redrawing an interaction that I drew a few days ago... Suddenly it looks so much better. Thank you!!
That first line immediately made me think they had some specific features to their characters lol, like imagine you're drawing a t-rex and a biblically accurate angel together and ya' just don't know how it should work, but Agatha and $**%^&^!(* just don't get enough art
Uh huh, and we’re discussing them as characters. I could just as easily have been like ‘we’re talking about stick figures’ when you said ‘Mark secretly enjoys the attention’. What, you think stick figures can enjoy attention? No, of course you don’t. But you’re describing them as though they are alive and so am I, even though they are not and we know they are not. Why? Because they’re characters and as such we are to _imagine_ that they are alive and they are real. That’s literally the concept of suspension of disbelief.
Wow this tutorial is like some character feng shui or something, I never see someone pointing out the flow beetween character / objects. Thank you for the tutorial!
lol Feng Shui is such a funny way of calling it, but its all fundamental design principles, more specifically composition, for anyone interested in learning more abt tht aspect :)
One thing that I wish was included in this video is composition. The composition of a scene is SO important to character interaction and dynamics. You did touch on this a little in the "bigger person, little person", but its more than that. So, to explain what I mean is that there is a top, bottom, left, and right of your page. Central means that your character has focus, this can be good or bad depending on the mood. If you put characters in the open space around the center, you make either a "fish in the sea dynamic" or a "tower in the sky dynamic". Characters being on the left and right of the scene indicate a rivalry, a confrontation. Characters being on the top or bottom of the scene indicate a power dynamic. A villain for example would be above the victim. Next time you draw a character interaction, think about WHERE they are in the scene, because it does make a huge difference and does enhance the interaction and the audience's feelings towards the scene!
I've made many interactions with my characters, some share the same braincell, argue and ask the dumbest of questions, along with heartfelt moments. Thanks for the tips!

Something that's great with this sort of breakdown when you're already familiar with interactions and posing and such is that having it broken down and explained helps you see all the parts.
