If you want more, you should read omniscient reader's viewpoint! it's so so so good I literally think it's the one novel everyone should read before they die
Fun tip: it really helps me to study expressions in musicals! Theatre actors have to over emphasize their facial reactions so everyone in the crowd can see them, so theyre really good reference for strong or over the top expressions :)
WOO BOB X MARK the comment about the pinterest expression sheets really explained for me why i struggled to use them sometimes when i practice. finding more natural/situational references will probably be much more helpful 🙏 and the 'photoshoot' with different scenarios was an interesting point to consider! i think this was a helpful video!

the thing about the posing vs actual expressions u see in rl is so obvious in hindsight but i dont think i would've actually thought of it myself. thank u so much. and the part about the characters expressing emotions differently is so real, that always kind of frustrated me bc i'd draw the basic angry face but it just wouldn't look right bc it didn't fit *them*! you're such a blessing

Its okay if they react to incidents or events some of the time, but if they are always reacting, they become passive, and weak..."
I struggle so much with acting poses and photoshoot poses but I literally couldn't pinpoint the problem until I heard you refer to it like this! I only draw acting poses because I don't know how to put my characters personality into I cool but unrealistic pose (unrealistic pose as in no one would pose like that in real life naturally)
Do you think you could make a video on foreshortening, and how to use it to make a more interesting composition in general rather than something generic and boring? This is something I’ve been struggling with for a while, and trying to find references can be frustrating. I love your “how to” videos, they’ve been incredibly helpful.
This really helps me define and recognize what kinds of facial/expressive references I should look for when studying this kind of thing. I wish younger me knew this sooner so I wouldn't have felt disheartened at attempting a broader range of emotions.

9:00 At first I was thinking that "oh, so if they're looking at the camera/viewer, then it's a 'photoshoot' type image, and not an 'acting' one." But I think that you can have expressiveness and acting if the character is meant to be interacting with the viewer, like a POV shot. For example, if the character is having an argument with the viewer. Then the character would be looking directly at you, reacting to the hypothetical argument.
I remember Emirichu saying the eyebrows and how there place aren't locked to certain emotions. That you can mix and match how you want expression the emotion with face
