    Teacher to teacher, abt 60% of what ur trying to describe abt gravity could be summed up in one tip: The weight of the character is resting on the leg UNDER THE NOSE. Try dropping a line from the nose dwn. Also encourage u to really emphasize the benefits of gesture drawing from life by ppl watching or using references. Tell ur students that NO artist could possibly draw everything from memory. I think you’ll give them great relief! 😊 Excellent visualization at the beginning abt building ur mental catalog like an exploring a dark map! Love the circles w/reference lines to show volume & angles in head, ribs, & hips! Great tips there! ❤❤❤

    Just want to get this off. I first came across you threw your video about social media and it had a good impact on me, I eventually got rid of my personal account on Instagram and use my art one with the filtering tips you mentioned in that video as well as found your other content useful. I bought your course after you post part 1 and will be integrating it in my sketchbook time. Keep up the good work, As a 28 year old working a full-time job and juggling family life while trying to pursue a career in art it's nice to have come across you ❤.

    I got the full course and been loving it so much! 😭♡ Lately I've come across pretty genetic educational material that didn't bring real value to my art education and minset. But OH BOY does this comes packed with lots of vitamins, wisdom and useful assignements !! it was a pleasant surprise and I feel this will help me finally get to that moment where things start to click and you don't have to suffer and sob trying to see were you got things wrong and how to fix the wronggs and to actually go for the art you REALLY want to make without feeling stuck. Tysm Lexin for creating this class and sharing your knowledge!🧠🍏🌱 i'm a japy bean :'D

    I’m 14 mins in and already this has been one of the most helpful things I have seen. Thank you honestly, the way you explained things really clicked with me, I’ve seen people explain theses same things but I could never understand it and I’d try to do what they did and it never worked, but I did a quick sketch trying it now and it helped a lot. I’m so happy to finally understand this and I’m excited to see the rest of the video :)

    10:08 break down pose into three parts
    15:12 balance. force and tension
    18:59 confusing context
    24:52 weight and force (straights are tension, curves are not)

    i used to do the exaggerated foreshortening a lot without being aware of it, and bc of some videos with the "realistic lens approach" i started to struggle on the foreshortening topic. i wish someone have told me abt this before

    thank you sm for your video it’s very useful. it seems to me that at 24:30 half of the poses do not comply with the announced rules, like in some of them you can’t tell which leg is the supporting, and there are also several poses where three part are located in the same direction? it’s kinda disappointing to me, not trying to be rude or smth, just want to understand why it’s so 😅

    • @PasMille
      @PasMille 2 месяца назад +4

      Thoses rules only apply when a character is standing in balance !
      The top right and the 2nd top left seem like walking, when you're walking you can't always be in balance otherwise you couldn't move ! Same with the poses like the 2nd top and 2nd bottom right, the three parts can be in the same direction because they just aren't standing in balance, it seems really complicated to keep their poses for long but they seem like moving so no need to apply the rules.
      Hope it helps !
      She should've specified it though

      Then make it stiff, tense joints and make poses straight instead of fluid to exaggerate the lack of flow. Like if you want a character to look super awkward and uncomfortable, tense the shoulders or bring them up, straighten legs or don’t shift (as much) balance onto one or the other, don’t tilt specific body parts as much to make them asymmetrical. The more symmetrical the pose and body, the less natural it feels. You can use that to your advantage when you want to. It’s when you don’t want poses to be stiff that these kinds of videos work best, but theres exceptions to every rule

    😬“Most artists don’t know wide angle lenses so they only draw in telephoto”…OH NO!! U meant that it’s more fun to use wide angle to hide mistakes by over exaggerating ur foreshortening & that’s OK! There’s no shame in wanting to have art that u like. But truly, u can’t hide from the hard work it takes to be a great artist. You have lots of followers trying to learn from you…so important to pass on good info. The whole thing abt weight & force is def an opportunity to brush up! I have no idea what any of that meant. Srry😂 I think maybe you were trying to teach a reference study.? The good parts were noticing the joints and using a mix of straight and curved lines. Try looking up “What is CSI for artists”. I promise you will be a better teacher. Much love❤

      This is a bold comment about "hard work" coming from an artist who uses AI and promotes the use of it... ick
