The actress who played Maritza came home one day to find that her parents were picked up by ICE. She basically stayed in the US without them. This probably hit real close to home for her.

while i agree that children should never be deported, adults are a different story. if you want to come into america, do it legally. hopping the border and breaking the law to get into america is only going to lead to major consequences down the road. this goes for everyone, please, do things the safe way. please. become an american citizen through the legal process.

The point is, both on screen and in real life, there is an array or races and nationalities being affected by ICE-contrary to what the media may portray. I cry because it’s not just walking crossing the desert, they have to walk in the dry ass desert for days, weeks, and sometimes months. they run out of water, they have to hide when there are helicopters, and the worst part is when they climb the wall or something else cause now they are in the US and there is more border patrol (I am crying as I’m writing this) and sometimes it’s much worst depending on what coyote they have or which path they take.

A few years back I hadn’t seen my aunts, uncles, and cousins for almost 10 years because whenever my mother and I wanted to visit, El Salvador was put on a list that deemed it too dangerous to visit. Obviously some parts are safer than others (a street makes a huge difference). The ICE storyline taught so much. OITNB did something no news channel could - the reality that these people live in, how it is much more horrific than the US public thought. No reason to treat anyone this way. The inhabitable environment that hold people ((yes people, even if the language is different)) is inhumane. And I hope with shows like this and more, it opens the eyes of those who decided to shut them. And something can be put in place to give everyone a fair chance. With the technology and resources available to someone like me, why wouldn't it be used to for this by the people with much more access and clearance.
Our government treats the criminals of unforgivable acts of crime and violence a lot better than a foreign parent or person who is coming here to better their lives, these stories often sound similar to the one that started this country in the first place. They live among us, as a neighbor, a friend, a lover, etc until one day they are gone without a word. and some people will say, "if they want to live here, then do it legally" okay, then make it so they can do it legally. There should be a way that a person can come and try to talk to someone, instead they get here, try to communicate and are either sent right back, where now they could be an even bigger target than before and die. Or try again or hear stories and are scared so they try to hide *out of sight out of mind* This causes the parents to not file or reach out to anyone, then their small children grow up here, to one day be in the wrong place at the wrong time. Shipped back to a country they know noone and has nothing.
There are protocols for these mass shooters, human and drug trafficking, pedophiles, rapist, bombers, etc - why is this the way ICE handles the non citizen people - ready for the change

If your father robbed a bank to buy you a Ferrari, do you think the bank would let you keep the Ferrari. No, they would seize it & sell it. My parents also "went thru" plenty, including being beaten by communist party authorities. But they STILL followed all the laws when they emigrated into the USA. They had permission, they applied for it. My mother had a PhD in Mathematics while my father had a PhD in Engineering both Mechanical & Electrical so their approval came much faster, it was approved in 5 months, as compared to the standard 2-3 years it normally takes, because the US had a "fast track" immigration process for people with exceptionally high education that could help the US compete with Russia during the Space Race. Don't tell me about what someone had to "go through" Ive got people in my family who were executed by Communist Party officials but everyone of them went to other countries did so legally. Some went to Canada, some to the USA, come to Sweden, Norwaym, Luxembourg, France, Iceland........................all LEGALLY. "No one got a happy ending"
That's the way things are, which is really unfortunate :(

The saddest part of this, is that it is spot on. Everything that is being showed is true and most people don’t realize it. They also don’t realize that people DIE trying to get to this country. They rather take their chances in the deserts than to stay in a corrupt country that became corrupt because of the US.

They did an amazing job piecing the ice stories together that’s pretty much what happens

This whole season, especially dealing with the storylines following people dealing with deportation and ICE, I couldn’t stop myself from crying. Seeing how the women were treated and what they were going through with their families.
