  • La Motte-Servolex, town about 5KM north of Chambery, towards Annecy
Until the beginning of the century, the Church of Saint Jean-Baptiste was flanked by an 11th century priory. Its base, square in shape, still has defensive elements on the first floor which allow it to be dated as a Romanesque vestige reworked at different times. The bell tower, decapitated in 1794, was rebuilt in 1809, then equipped with a belfry for two bells. This church has undergone successive modifications and enlargements. In 1829, according to the plans of the architect Trivelli, brother-in-law of General de Boigne, the central nave, which is in the Gothic style of the 13th century, was extended by a new choir; the old one, which must have had a flat chevet, then became the front choir onto which the chapel of the Costa de Beauregard was grafted to the north and the chapel of the Virgin to the south.
The big bell sounds the note MI3 (-2) and the small one FA#3 (-1)
NOTE: I missed the first 2 hammer ringing of the Angelus
Angelus by tradition in France: 3-3-3 on the big bell (with some exceptions, such as at the Saint Lazare Cathedral in Autun (71), at the gates of the Morvan Regional Park where it is the second bell that rings. We're already talking about it, I have videos on this Cathedral, if anyone is interested, comment! :D ) and then the "Moving ringing" on a smaller bell, usually the smallest of all in the bell tower)
