Bells of Pré-Saint-Didier (I-AO) - Parish Church of San Lorenzo - Ave Maria and Angelus

Rebuilt in the 15th century and enlarged in 1891, it is a Latin cross church with a single nave. The main portal dates back to the time of the last major renovation and is surmounted by a wooden work depicting the patron saint of the town, San Lorenzo, made by a skilled local craftsman, Ottavio Grange. In the transept, on the left side, there is the altar of the Madonna delle Vittorie, whose statue dates back to the 19th century, while the rest of the complex is earlier (18th century); on the right side, however, is the altar of San Giuseppe. In the apse, the high altar, from the 18th century, is dominated by the Crucifix, consecrated during the works carried out at the end of the 19th century. On the right side, the door to the sacristy dates from the 17th century and is in walnut with panels carved with prismatic crystals. The bell tower is one of the oldest in the valley, with those of Sarre, Chesallet, Issime and the priory of San Benigno (Saint-Bénin) of Aosta: the tower combines Romanesque-Lombard stylistic elements, from the typical mullioned window under the unloading, to later elements (13th century) such as the capital in the manner of castle barbicans and a connected unloading arch, with an exclusively decorative function.
