Hello everyone and welcome back to Brink of Speed! Today I will take you along for an ADRENALINE RUSH of 0-60 times in my 2015 C7 Corvette Z06! Have a wonderful rest of your week and I'll see you out on the road!
Nice driving and yes 3.4 is impressive especially in a M7. Question, does the M7 require the clutch to be used during up shifting? I believe the 2.95 time is a Chevy published time with the A8 and Road and Track got a best 3.0 with the A8...the published times for the M7 are slightly higher (I bought the A8 so haven't run down the M7 times but they are higher then your referenced times.
I, as you know, usually do 4.1 in my GS. I think the best we've gotten was with my wife driving and she hit 4.0. We have the Pilot Super Sports. Fun watching the car driving stuff!
Mike, Good morning Friday from Beirut. Enjoy the 0 - 60 times with the Continental's. When I arrive back home in AZ I will give it a go and let you know my times. Happy Easter man. Blue skies, Jg
I have that problem with both my cars especially the ZR1 even with sticky cup Twos. The higher octane fuel will help after you quit spinning I have done it it helps that little bit. Every tenth of a second in 0-60 helps.
I got 3.3 both on Michelin SS and on Nitto NT05Rs in 2016 C7 Z06. Despite the same times, the Nittos spin less. Was surprised the Nittos did not get me in 3.0 range. I guess I have to try, try and try again. Hope to put on 1/4 mile track this year and eventually do the Johnny Bohmer 2.3 mile run maybe next year.
Really enjoy your videos.. very informative!! Dominick, I currently have a 2015 Z51, that I just absolutely love! But like you I see a newer Z06 in my future... Happy Trails to Brink and You!!
RedNeck Buddha Thank you, I’m happy you enjoy them! 😊 I bet you do love that Z51, I believe that I would love that car as well! A newer Z06 in the future sounds perfect! Thank you for your kind words and support!
I have had the tires all summer but I am not sure they grip that much better in summer than the Michelin’s. 3.4 is the best I can do without Launch mode. They do grip much better in cooler months like 60 degrees.
The guy who hit 2.8 on RUclips with his Z06 scrubbed the tires like you would at the dragstrip. Most people don't do that in their 0-60 runs and it does seem to be required in order to hit 3 seconds or less
Yeah, I wanted to do it but, I really don't want to wear these new tires out just for a 0-60 time. Maybe I'll try that next time! Thank you for the info bro!
I see now why you don't miss your ZO6 since the C8 has it for lunch. I don't plan on giving up my 2017 ZO6 anytime soon BUT don't plan on dragging any C8 either!
Appreciate the video. I've only been able to get 3.50 in my 2017. Off topic but how do you deal with the road grime dings on the front of the back fenders? My car is black to it shows every little thing but the sand/dirt from the road hitting those back fenders is starting to look really bad.
Loved it and 0-60 in the 3's and stock what more does one want. Just wondering how did you get your launch control going, could you let me know how please.... Another great video....
PR 65 Thanks, yeah, I was pretty happy for sure! You have to go into track mode, then you double click the top button and choose which mode inside track mode you want. Then mash the brake and then the gas and let the RPM come up to steady at 2k and let off the brake! Away you will go! Thank you for your kind words and support! 😊
@@BrinkofSpeed I know this is three years ago but when you said you go to track mode and mash the button above it twice -what button are you referring to?
As always, loved your editing of this video. As a matter of fact, even though I wasn't even in the car, the editing was so good that the lint was blown out of my navel. How'd you that? lol Why don't you come up here to the Ice Box of NJ and do some runs. Guaranteed that you'll cut another two tenths off your time. lol What still gets me though, is how, when and where does the factory get the times that they post? Save the Wave and Happy Easter to all the Brinks.
Thanks, Peter! I'm glad you had a great "in-car experience" and I'm also happy that it cleaned out your navel, your wife can thank me later! Lol, I think going there would help me gain tenths in the other direction! The factory guys are running these tests out on a prepped drag strip, this is why they would have zero tire spin and hit 2.95 0-60 times! Thank you, Peter, happy Easter to you and your whole family, even the shepherds! 🙂
No worries about coming to the Ice Box. Amazon is running a sale on electric blankets. I'll pick up five of them. One for each of your tires and one for you. I wouldn't want you to freeze while here. lol Save the Wave. Oh yeah, my wife thanks you and hates you! She thanks you for my clean navel and hates you because now I'm looking at ZO6s. 🙂
Peter Carey I appreciate the thoughtfulness there Peter! I should buy tire warmers for here too, that way I would know for a fact that they would have maximum grip! Tell your wife she welcome and I’m sorry about setting the the “wheels in motion” for you looking at Z06’s lol!
I have hit 3.1 a few times and several 3.4 times with a few 3.3s. A couple of guys on Corvette forum have hit 2.9? I do better without launch control. This is my 5th C7 ZO6 I have not tried in this car, but maybe this weekend?
D & K Vloggers That’s awesome! I’m more effective with a manual transmission and feel like I could do a couple tenths better than I’m doing with this Auto! 2.9 on the street is insane!
So you mean next time when I want to change the tires of my Z06 I should not get the Michelin super sport tires? Do you believe the Continental extreme grip gives the car a better traction? thanks.
I have had good luck on the cup tires (also a 2015 A8 car). In this video, it did a 3.3 with traction control on and in track mode, no launch mode. ruclips.net/video/poskk9cCKrQ/видео.html In this video, it went 11.09@125 - still completely stock with traction control and track mode, untouched ( I forgot the in car cam!). ruclips.net/video/lSc1dTuCKXg/видео.html In both videos, I leave the line at idle and stab the gas. The 60's are in the 1.68 range. The weather was terrible for racing, with the DA being around 3800'.
I don't know if I missed it but did you ever state if your Z is auto or manual? The auto is the one that got under 3 seconds, the manual is slower. Assuming yours is manual 7-speed. What's crazy is the new 2020 BASE vette (w/Z51 pkg.) goes 0-60 in 2.8 seconds with basically the same motor minus the supercharger.
I have seen a Z06 record a 2.8 on the street...by the PDR. I have also noticed that on most Z06s....including mine!....the PDR is off between .15 to .2 seconds on the qrt mile run. The fastest I have done is 3.1 sec on Michelin Supersports on unprepped surfaces. I am changing to toyo R888Rs very soon. I hope to get below the 3 sec mark with them. Good video! 👍
Street Reaper That’s incredibly low and amazing 2.8!!!😮 Is yours an auto or manual and if auto, did you use Launch Control? Thank you for your kind words and support!
@@BrinkofSpeed mine is an auto. When I hit the 3.1 sec...i was using launch control. The Michelin Supersports dont grip enough to get a solid launch without it. The guy that ran a 2.8 was on a very sticky tire and did not use launch control. I am hoping my toyo R888Rs will allow me to do the same! I always enjoy your videos. Looking forward to the launch of the C8! Keep em coming.
Street Reaper That’s awesome, my launch just doesn’t hook up well at all and I’m able to do better with it off. Thank you for your kind words and support! I can’t wait for the C8 release either! 😊

You know MIke, "ANDRENALINE RUSH" would make for a great name on a new Vette color. lol
Peter Carey agreed! 😊
I say it could be time for a re test!!

Thanks for the video. Fun to see what a stock C7 ZO6 beast will do repeatedly with and without launch control.
You're very welcome Ken! It sure is cool isn't it, this car is such a beast!
That was pretty sweet, shaving 2 tenths just from switching tires. 3.4 0-60 is pretty darn quick! Thanks for the video.
I, as you know, usually do 4.1 in my GS. I think the best we've gotten was with my wife driving and she hit 4.0. We have the Pilot Super Sports. Fun watching the car driving stuff!
Front Seat Driver Yeah, but that is still really good and it’s fun no matter what the times are.
@@BrinkofSpeed Definitely!!
New Tires = shaved 2/10ths and consistent on each run. Nice job!!!!
Corvette World Rob Yes sir, thanks Rob!

Good morning John! I'm glad you enjoyed them and I can't wait to see what times you come up with! Happy Easter to you and your family!🙂
Impressive what new tires can do. Those Z06s are a beast.
It sure is, they are very grippy, that is for sure and yes the Z06 is a beast!
I have that problem with both my cars especially the ZR1 even with sticky cup Twos. The higher octane fuel will help after you quit spinning I have done it it helps that little bit. Every tenth of a second in 0-60 helps.
Duane Clark Yeah, I’ll see what happens when the temperature goes up another 10° and I really get the tires warm.
Tires hotter is a big plus but remember the supercharger does not like more heat
Z06 is such a monster! Great tire choice too!
It sure is, yeah, they are great tires!

Hey neighbor, I'm at the the Fairways too.
Awesome, what do you drive?
16' Silverado Z71. It's black and lifted. Nice vette by the way.
@@orona88 Sweet and thank you!
So launch control is slower, but definitely consistent. Great video!
I just got Toyo R888R on mine this spring but waiting for temps to raise to 80. Hoping for consistent 3 flat.
Awesome! I’ve heard excellent reviews about those tires!
I have had the tires all summer but I am not sure they grip that much better in summer than the Michelin’s. 3.4 is the best I can do without

awesome video and love the music! I notice the rear end moving

Just today with the same tires I got my 16z06 with a passenger 3.2 0-60. Mn7.
Have you ran it at the track? Any 1/4 times?
Are the contis rated for 200mph?
They are Y Rated tires, so really 186mph is the max you should really push them.
Are those Shady Ray's glasses?!

Kevin Breese his is auto. The pdr would show the brief brief time in neutral.
I was curious about that to but then when he mentioned he had paddle shifters I knew it was Auto

William Horvat yes sir, here is a link to that video! ruclips.net/video/crjuULynnc0/видео.html
why is regular C8 quicker than C7 z06 on a 0-60 ?
Put it in touring mode and then just smash the gas. You might not take off the fastest, but you'll win the quarter mile.
Smokin!
so basically, short shifting makes the difference.
You should be Re riding this with a Dragy. They are only $150 and significantly more accurate.
RWD is a waste of tire $$ over 400hp, AWD is where it's at.
I think I am going to go for a used AWD Jag F Type R supercharged V8 convertible.
Next time put 100 Octane in your car I think that’ll give you another 2/10 of a second
Duane Clark Lol, that won’t really help, it will just put more power to the rear wheels which are already hard enough to keep from spinning!
About as fast as a Merc amg S 63
Yes sir!
The s amg 63 is a boat compare to the z06.
Continental's are the worst tires you can get for this car
Why?
Autos dont count for racing anyways
