    9:57 I never viewed the fan service line in this one: “Come with me if you want to live.” Was put there simply for the fan service. I always felt that that was a deliberate line to have Sarah Connor trust him, like John Connor in the future when he got a hold of this unit and was sending it to the past he knew that if it was going to help his mom it needed to say that line.

      It might not be a movie but Post-Modern Prometheus is one of the best X-Files episodes ever. And it was in black and white. Black and White just adds texture to a film. A layer of eerieness (excuse spelling if wrong) to a product not seen in colour. Correct me if I'm wrong.

      zakfett92 12 Angry Men is legit my favorite film of all time. I'm not even saying that just to be retro or whatever, I really think it's one of the best films ever (more than Citizen Kane, which I didn't like).

    • @Ghost_Drive
      @Ghost_Drive 7 лет назад +5

      I haven't seen many black and white movies because I just don't seek old movies out to watch (I'm more of a gamer if my profile icon isn't obvious). But I can say that after seeing "Mr. Smith Goes to Washington" in my AP Government class, it is easily in my top 10 movies. I loved how well written the political system and corruption were, I loved the scene where the camera just followed Mr. Smith twirling with his hat, I loved how good a job everyone did of making the main character look more and more exasperated as the movie went on. It seemed to me like what I often hear about the older eras of video games; without lifelike technology and strongly established formulas, each movie had to find ways to work within it's boundaries, and that's when great art is made.

      I would argue a few of the MCU films actually have already reached that. Sure, they're not generally as dark and gritty as that movie was, but in terms of just being good movies. Though the Marvel movies could do with a few more interesting villains. It's funny that their movie villains are generally a bit meh, but they have amazing villains in their tv shows xD

    • @jmparker78
      @jmparker78 7 лет назад +12

      What amuses me is that after literally decades of critics and audiences complaining that most superhero movies gave us a charismatic, fun villain, they mostly gave us bland, vanilla, uninvolving heroes, as if they expected us to root for the hero just because they were the heroes. This is true of all the Reeve-era Superman movies, all the Burton/Schumacher Batman movies, the Raimi Spider-Man movies, and I would argue even The Dark Knight. Now we get movies with dynamic, interesting heroes, and what's peoples' takeaway from that? "The villains aren't interesting enough!!"

    From what I heard on Toy Story 2, the director gave it to someone else to direct. When he went to check on how it was coming, he didn't like what he saw. He tried to get the release date postponed without success. So, they started from scratch and got it finished just in time and still had time to make it so much better than its predecessor.

As for the other three I think I would choose one of the MCU sequels (Winter Soldier, Civil War or Infinity War), one of the two Planet of the Apes sequels (Dawn or War) and the other would either be How to Train Your Dragon 2 or Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade.

    When Frankenstein's monster begins to learn and become aware, it's bittersweet. He realizes how much the world has, but the world wants nothing to do with him.
    He goes on a journey, basically just becoming increasingly depressed. Finally when he gets what he asked for, he just can't bear the sadness anymore.
    There are moments of happiness, but it's what the monster does that breaks my heart.

      Arc13 I don't think How to Train Your Dragon 2 was that great, it was very rush and didn't give enough time for character development, specially in Hiccup's mother. I mean, how nobody of Berk didn't recognize her? Did she even had friends, other family members apart of her husband and son? How no one of the villagers get shocked realising that the supposed dead wife of their chief stills alive?

    Does Return of the King really count as a sequel though? It's unlike most sequels as it wasn't produced after the first film was released and became popular, the trilogy was all made at the same time. The movies, like the books, are really just one story segmented into three parts due to its length. Return of the King really is one long climax for the Lord of the Rings, it's not a stand-alone sequel.

    • @jasonfrye8172

      The Trilogy was NOT all made at the same exact time, look it up.

    • @melodyclark1944
      @melodyclark1944 7 лет назад +5

      Not the exact same time but they were done filming the last one before the first one was released.
      "Principal photography for all three films was conducted concurrently in many locations within New Zealand's conservation areas and national parks between 11 October 1999, and 22 December 2000, a period of 438 days."
      Even disregarding that the three of them are very much intended to be one story.

    11:50 Am I the only one who likes batman returns every bit as much as batman 89, maybe even liking returns better? I know some people don't like the penguin here because "it's not accurate to the comics" but I really liked Danny devito as the more deformed penguin in its own right. I also liked that the penguin was taking over Gotham legitimately, making batman powerless against him for the majority of the film and even going on to frame batman for murder. Don't get returns it rarely get spoke about.

    • @CD-hk6bg
      @CD-hk6bg 7 лет назад +7

      For the record, I don't think returns should be on the list, dark Knight is better in my opinion, I just don't get why it's never spoke about and why it's glanced over as if 89 is infinitely better and that returns is just mediocre or something

      @jp3813 7 лет назад

      I used to love Returns as a kid. But as an adult, I see a lot of problems w/ it. If it was released as a new movie in this decade, people would immediately point out how much Batman sucks as a hero in it. He just watches a woman fall to her death even though he has a glider, gets his Batmobile easily hacked by remote control, and accidentally reveals his secret identity to a villain in a party. The title also might as well be "Penguin & Catwoman" instead.

    • @ShinSeikiEvan
      @ShinSeikiEvan 7 лет назад +1

      I liked it a lot, but people I've noticed things about it that now irritate me.
      A) The mousy secretary suddenly gets supervillain ninja skills from nowhere after falling from a building.
      B) This movie started the dumb "two or more villains" trend that DC can never get away from. Usually neither villain gets the development they deserve.
      C) The Penguin deviated from the source material too much; basically giving him Killer Croc's backstory. Max Shreck wasn't needed and The Penguin should have filled that role as the shifty aristocrat.

    • @twilitezn
      @twilitezn 4 года назад +1

      Ryan Fanstone Ummm...it’s practically a remake of Episode 4....if you take out the fanservice (some of which is GREAT BTW) then it is a FAR inferior film. The characters are lesser and have practically no personality, there are MULTIPLE memorable scenes from Ep 4 (Star destroyer reveal, Vader’s entrance, Kenobi & Luke at the cantina, Han Solo/Greedo, Vader/Kenobi, Trench run and more) but I have a hard time thinking of any great/good scene in Ep 7 that is not a callback/fan service, the SUPPORTING characters are pure “nothings” : Red Leader had more impact than “Maz Kanada” and she’s in 3 films!!! (sparingly). Ep 4 also had the daunting task of doing things that had never even been attempted at all and pulled the majority of them off - it’s kind of like a great student film - and as such I think it’s unfair to compare it to Ep 7 and vice versa.
      Comparing Ep 7 and Ep 1 IS a fair one though.
      I would say that while Ep 7 is overall a more enjoyable film imo, it fails in 2 aspects :
      - Ep 1 has 3 characters that we remember: QGJinn, Darth Maul, &, the most hated SW character of all time, JJB. Even that has to count for something. Ep 7 has 1 : Kyle Renn (I’m NOT counting returning characters).
      - Ep 1 has minimal fan service , and is trying to be its own thing. It fails, but at least it fails doing that. If you take the fan service out of Ep 7, how good is it really? Rogue One had fan service but (A) did it better, (B) had better characters - not greatly better, but better - who had better scenes, K-2SO has more memorable scenes than Rey, and (C) imo, is a more enjoyable film....I would watch it again and have.
