Why are we judging whether it's a remaster or remake based off a cutscene? Like, yeah, the cutscene appears to be completely reanimated, but that doesn't really say anything about the actual gameplay.
@@SALTYTOAD00oh yeah you're right. Is there any other remake i'm not aware of? Unless you're also including the movie remakes which in fact are quite bad

@@OatchiBall27 , yes but it doesn't really seem like that due to the lighting of the game, what I mean is that they improved the lighting in the remake, so it seems more like it's night time due to the lighting and the shadows and the effect that they create
The ink looks SO good on the left cutscene. At first I thought they just put the old cutscene through an upscaler, but looking at them side by side, they clearly rendered it again and some effects were completely remade. That's pretty unusual for a remaster.
the only major point i'd give the Wii version of the opening is that Mickey feels a bit more "elastic" in his movements? It's very subtle, but the newer version seems to have a bit more of a realistic weight, making the timing of some movements a little bit different. The expressions of the movement are slightly less exaggerated than the Wii versions, which in the original it kinda made sense as they were calling back to Mickey's old animation. Besides that, the newer opening looks better in every other way
I could be misremembering, it's been a long time since I last picked up the wii version, but I often felt that Mickey was a little too floaty during platforming sections and it made it difficult to navigate certain maps like Small World and Haunted Mansion. Maybe they adjusted his characters weight to correct that? I just hope they fixed the camera more than anything
One gripe I have is the new lighting. Don’t get me wrong, it looks absolutely phenomenal, but my problem is that it now doesn’t match the look of Thru the Mirror.
Lightning is leagues better. Now it actually looks like night when Mickey sleeps or sneaks through the dark corridors of Yen Sid’s tower. The textures are way more detailed too. You can see the wall’s grungy surface and a few cracks here and there. And look at the pot holding the paint. It’s been remodelled and actually has bubbling liquid inside it, rather than just a generic fog-like effect. The paint spills at the mouth of the pot are also different. And theres probably more I haven’t seen yet.

The opening pre-rendered cutscene looks nice, but the gameplay sections look awful. It looks like someone turned up the saturation way too high. All the atmosphere is gone. All I can say is that I hope it improves by release. Or that the version on other consoles looks a lot better.
Yeah. It does look a bit off with how vibrant the toon is against the inert/thinned out areas. Also, I’ve noticed that when Mickey leaps out of the projector in the gameplay, his ears remain in their normal position, despite his body and head front flipping so they clip through one another. Hopefully, these will be ironed out by release.
Well let's keep in mind that this is only the trailer, perhaps in the game the lighting in game will be fixed enough to give a good atmosphere to the environment of the worlds, I've seen game trailers that shows a really high lighting but in game everything fixed

On the other hand, now the prologue has a plot hole because it says “one day” when the scene is clearly at night, and I’m terrified they replaced all the beautiful sketchbook cutscenes with generic CG cutscenes.
I just noticed that between the 2 graphics, the Rebrushed version animation looks like being in 60 FPS, and thus make the game look pretty fast/smooth paced and well animated, but it still keep the ending of the movements the characters do. For example, at exactly 1:46, Mickey looks at the paint brush while raising his shoulders instantly in the Wii version, but in the Rebrushed version, he waits before doing it. But at the end of the animation in which we see Mickey (So before he mixes the paint with his paintbrush in the pot), it's all synchronized, if we look at a starting point like 1:47 then going to the end. The graphics are also way more polished, especially when we look at the sort of purple goo Mickey has made by mistake and when it raises up.
This could just be because the game isn't finished yet, or maybe this was just a visual downgrade for Switch because it's (likely) made on Unreal Engine, but the outside of the mansion at 4:08 lacks any shadows on the white portion in front. Though this is just a nitpick. Hopefully this remake/remaster is good, I've never played Epic Mickey but it always looked cool visually.

The original Wii version's cutscene looks like it was animated in that 40s vibe frames of animation. The new remake's cutscenes looks like they were animated for theatric movie appeal of the modern age. This isn't counting in-game animations just yet (this is the Switch's third party standards we talking about, but hey the PC version might look very good).
i feel like this is the opportunity to fix all the issues with the main game and make it truly a masterpiece, the concept is so unique and amazing I hope this remake does a good job expanding on it
I actually like both, but I am somewhat mixed on how the gameplay graphics look, definitely very different, but I still look forward to it, especially what Mickey's new moves will be and how that changes the game!
A bit torn on this, on one hand the remake looks great... On the other hand, the original has that charm to it... Hm... I've always liked the Sun from the Asisan Boat Ride, same with the Aladdin Palace on the left. Same goes for Lonesome Manor, but the original Lonesome Manor was darker, compared to the brighter colors of the rebrushed. Epic Mickey was built on the concept of Disneyland, but Twisted. I can't possibly picture fighting a more colorful Clocktower and somehow tensing up like how I did in the original Epic Mickey in 2010. I love Epic Mickey, I love the remake, but... This is a toughy...
It looks a lot better. I mean that’s to be expected for a remake of a 14 year old game but still. It’s way more polished, if you look closely in the cutscene you can see the paint looks more natural and realistic than it did on the Wii, the texture of basically everything has massively improved making it look more realistic and in the part where Yen Sid, who is the wizard for those who don’t know, comes down the stairs to see what’s going on, you can obviously see his shadow. In the Wii version his shadow doesn’t look great, but the Switch version, it’s looks great. I did play Epic Mickey on Wii as well as its sequel and didn’t end up finishing either. I feel like I got like halfway through the 2nd and not far at all in the first one but that’s back when I was not that good at video games. Judging by the fact that a I beat Champion’s Road in Super Mario 3D World + Bowser’s Fury in just 2 days as opposed to the months it took me to beat on the Wii U, I have improved.
The only thing about the remake I don't really care for is the fact that the paint looks more blue than teal now, but other than that it looks perfect!

I’m so very glad that we’re finally getting a proper remake! The second game was kind of mediocre compared to the first one, but I don’t mind a remake for it either. Maybe even get Warren Spector back to finish off the trilogy with Purple Lamp! Or even the spin-offs like the "Epic Donald" or "Epic Disney Racers" game(s). Disney should have just adapted the first game into a movie for their 100th anniversary, instead of making that new "Wish" movie, which was incredibly disappointing! 🤷🏻♂️

Hopefully this remake/remaster is good, I've never played Epic Mickey but it always looked cool visually.
why not just port it??? The Nintendo Switch is the closest thing to imitating the Nintendo Wii so why not just port the game over and push the resolution to 720p/900p and enhance the framerate?
@@fantoniumnitrous, really? Honestly in the age that we live now and what many do I appreciate some people taking the time and interest to really make a remake of a game and not simply port it without any effort on their part and make it cost the same as the original shamelessly
The remake is what this game looked like to me as a kid
Im honestly super excited, the original it was sometimes hard to see with how dark everything is but the new version looks way more colorful, i do admit though i hope msot the game is still drab as it was kinda a neat aesthetic that fit the atmosphere really well
Never would I have thought that they would bring back Epic Mickey back! I remember seeing commercials about this, but never tried. Now this is my chance.
I skipped this on wii. Maybe will pick it up on switch.
Somehow the switch version looked exactly the same like the Wii version in my memory but after watching the video I realized that nostalgia has tricked me once again
Kinda prefer Mickey's expressions in the Wii more.
Maybe me as well but Im about to play this on Series X hopefully in 4K!
It sounds like Luigi's Mansion 3. Maybe Luigi and Mickey need to collaborate.
It's a track from Luigi Mansion 3, idk why they don't use Epic Mickey main menu theme.. 😒
Because of copyright.
The original is still really good, in some Cutscenes I even prefer it in comparison to the newer version
I don't know if I get it on Switch or PS5... Now I wouldlike to see a comparison between Switch and PS5.
The Luigi’s Mansion 3 music lol
this was seriously one of my favorite games i played as a kid. Christmas day ill never forget
I am just now noticing that his ears don’t turn with his head,
Amazing how some of our memories can be influenced by seeing a new, but familiar, thing. I came here because I wanted to see if anything looked different from the Wii version; in my head, the new one looked exactly the same. Jeez, the new one looks amazing.
...I really need to finish my wii copy.
I knew this game was a masterpiece under serious stress and development hell, but I never thought it'd get a full on remaster
What's the point of comparing pre rendered cutscenes?
Because that's what we have mostly. Also a great way of showing how muhc better the pre rendered cinematics look as well
on Xbox it was 60fps when i watched so im hyped for Series X@@crestofhonor2349
I was hoping someone had made a video comparison of this!!
Talk about rose-tinted glasses. I didn’t even realize it was a full remake. This is what I remember it looking like. This game freaked me out so much as a kid.
Exactly 💯 I always found the "this is how I saw ocarina of time as a kid" a bit of stretch hut good grief while the original isn't...bad? Still a big wake up call of age
I really hope this game will look and run better on whatever Nintendo's next system gonna be. I've been wanting to play 'Epic Mickey' for so long but was too lazy to set it up on Dolphin. Especially the motion controls.
Oh look, they fixed the missing bottle error in 1:42
I am so happy this is getting a remake, I never finished the Wii game but I absolutely loved Epic Mickey.
im so extremely excited!!! i will admit though, gameplay wise its kinda got that psychonauts 1 to psychonauts 2 effect where the lighting and colors are brighter, which takes away some of that fun..grungy? aesthetic? oh i dont care thoug im SO excited. this game means a lot to me :']
Wen Merlin paints the kingdom the paint locs like dust
I'm actually quite impressed by the Wii version
The original Wii version's cutscene looks like it was animated in that 40s vibe frames of animation.
The new remake's cutscenes looks like they were animated for theatric movie appeal of the modern age.
This isn't counting in-game animations just yet (this is the Switch's third party standards we talking about, but hey the PC version might look very good).
i feel like this is the opportunity to fix all the issues with the main game and make it truly a masterpiece, the concept is so unique and amazing I hope this remake does a good job expanding on it
I had no idea how stark the difference was. I haven’t played this in such a long time.
I actually like both, but I am somewhat mixed on how the gameplay graphics look, definitely very different, but I still look forward to it, especially what Mickey's new moves will be and how that changes the game!
Cant believe how much effort they put just in the cutscene alone, cant wait for this remake to come out!
Wait are those in game graphics? Though perfectly possible I was under the assumption this was just a cinematic intro of the game?
My joy is immeasurable and my day is blessed
The only thing about the remake I don't really care for is the fact that the paint looks more blue than teal now, but other than that it looks perfect!
I like how this has a spooky vibe to it. I really like that.
Mickey looks so much more lifelike in the new version! Can't wait for this to come out!
Used to have this one but never got far in it cause I didn’t really understand it. I can’t wait to give it another shot!
Looks so good!
I’m hoping they fix that frame rate before launch…
This game better be 4K 60fps on Xbox Series X and PS5 as this is a Wii game and Sonic Colors Ultimate got 4K 60fps on Xbox one X and Series X.
Not only are the graphics much better, that 60 frames per second is just **chef's kiss** .
Gameplay looks to be 30 tho, but its also coming on PlayStation😅
There were 10 times that I always thought that Disney might have a chance to release the 3rd game for epic Mickey, but I never thought they literally remastered the first one and I am super hyped and I thought I was dreaming, but all I have to do is pinched myself to see if it’s cap or fact
They both look amazing considering the hardware limitations. If someone told me that was on PC I'd have no trouble believing it.
So they just updated the lighting?
THERES AN EPIC MICKEY SWITCH PORT BRUH WTF Y AM I J LEARNING ABT THIS
The differences between the Switch and Wii versions of Epic Mickey is pretty noticeable but the Wii original looks really good and has aged well.
