A quick missed thing about the cut morality system: its been stated that using too much thinner as Scrapper Mickey would then turn him into 'Thinner Mickey', which we actually have 1 piece of concept art for! He'd basically become melty and monstrous looking, with some of his line art becoming visible! Apparently it was all cut because Disney didn't want to ruin Mickeys heroic image.
that was just an idea, a lot of the concept art was made for exactly what it's called - concepts. a lot of the concept art was created either for throwing around ideas or simply to test Disney to see what they could get away with, they weren't necessarily really intended to be developed and included in the game
@@PleasantGr8ient even so, thinner mickey *was* probably considered as a way to take scrapper mickey further VERY early in development. I can see (if the morality System hadnt been scrapped, ironicaly enough) them maybe tweaking the design to make it less creepy though. Hero mickey probably would've had something similar too. Maybe golden pants and his ink turning more blueish to match with paint or smth.
And it'll be a damn good banger to remember. God bless this game and whoever made it. God Bless you! Damn it, it'll be a good time for us to see the Blast From the Past!
The morality system still exists but it much less drastic. The more you use thinner on bosses, enemies and side quests the more ink blots come out of Mickey. The morality system also effect the ending you get and outcome of side quests. Using thinner on bosses and enemies out right kill them while paint redeems them and makes them friendly. Epic Mickey 2 expanded this idea by having almost every side quest to have a split path between paint and thinner. The thinner path is almost always about destroying things or going completely against the quest givers requests. In both games depending on what path for side quests you do results in getting cutscenes of the outcome. Some for example are Horace closing down his detective buisness, animatronic Goofy, Donald and Daisy remaining disassembled or in the case of 2 the antagonist being redeemed or dead. You cane completely ruin peoples lives and outcomes in these games
@@nikorasukunisada266 well i mean the thinner/paint route only counts towards bosses and the animatronics. So by doing the thinner routes for side quests and just thinning things for no reason will make you a bigger "scrapper"
@@Bd-qs5bn Yeah I get you. I just wished the game had abit more diversity rather than slap on the wrist for doing scrapper related stuff. Like The Townspeople actively wanting you out of the town and you could like melt down the Walt and Oswald Statue which will just incite the townsfolk. I guess what I'm asking for is like a deeper Karma System like Infamous. I played The original Game way back now with this real nice audio system connecting to one of those Rocker Gamer Chairs that has in speaker Audio Jacks hookups to route the sound to the headrest and abit of a surround sound effect. It was definitely an experience I will never forget. Hope one day to try to replicate it with the remake and a New Rocker Chair.
Great video! Few notes : * It’s called The Blot, or the Storm / Shadow Blot, not just “Blot”. * Gremlin Jamface was used in Epic Mickey 2, since Gremlin Markus was named after an employee who left the company by the time of EM2’s release. * The Fireworks were also used in EM2, but not as a sketch. * Madame Leona is from Epic Mickey’s Lonesome Manor, Madame Leota is the version from the real-life Haunted Mansion * I feel like you should have covered the Go Blob, a whole cut enemy who had a model, animations and sound effects before being cut and turned into the Spladoosh. If you’d like to talk more about that feel free to free to reply. Overall great video though! Awesome to see bigger RUclipsrs talking about this game.
It wasn't mentioned in this video but I'm sure at least some people remember those bits of leaked concept art that were SUPER horror-y rotting bio-mechanical amalgamations, and I'd like to remind everybody that those pieces of art were created specifically to get turned down, as odd as it is to say. The devs knew the game was going to be a LITTLE darker than disney standard, but had no idea where the line was, so they did stuff all over the spectrum including WAY outside what was expected to get the best sense of what they were working with
You should make a lost bits video about where's my water and it's spinoffs. There's a bunch of cut levels, unused graphics, unused objects, a where's my perry prototype that was shown off at e3 202 that was recently found, a cut expert mode in where's my water 2, unused music that was shared by the game's composer, and more. I believe it could be a great lost bits video (although the unfortunate part, is that not all of it is documented on the cutting room floor, there is some stuff on the wmw wiki, tcrf, and some that the community just knows about, yet hasn't documented it). I am part of the wmw community, I'm a modder, and I know so much about the internals of the game, so if you do decide to make a lost bits video about where's my water, hit me up, and I'd be glad to give you all the information you want to know (I also am in contact with the game's composer, so he may be able to share even more unused music).
The fireworks scetch was kinda re-worked in epic mickey 2, as there are fireworks you can use Oswald to lit the fireworks that do reveal secrets and can kill enemies
Fun fact about the scrapped vending machines. During GameInformer coverage on Epic Mickey back in 2009. They released their analysis of the publicly released screenshots and when commenting on the Clock Cleaners projector level they wrote that the E-Tickets will be used to buy new items from the vending machines. (for short, the vending machine appeared in the 2009 demo).
Imagine if we have the choose your own path in the game, it’s still there where you can choose paint or thinner on bosses or choose to be good or bad to people on challenges, but the detail of Mickey changing appearance would’ve been so cool
as for the "hiding other effects" thing around 12:30, that's a common occurrence when it comes to multiple transparent surfaces overlapping in the camera's view getting transparency to layer correctly is a PAIN, even on modern hardware
This actually happens in the Roblox engine as well if you set a part to "glass" material. It blocks out particle effects and surface GUI's when you look through it.
Im pretty sure the magenta stuff is missing textures. Usually, devs will have a failsafe texture to apply to an object when the game cant find a texture. They do this because the game will crash if it cant find something to apply as a texture. The pitch black levels are proably a result of them being made without shaders in mind. Devs will somtimes test a game in fulbright because shaders can take a while to compile. So my guess is those levels never had their shaders compiled
Epic Mickey was my first Wii game. Got it before I even had something to play it on because of how much of a fan of Oswald I was (blame those cheep VHSs from the dollar store with old cartoons on it) so I had to play it on my mom's boyfriend's wii. This game will forever have a special place in my heart.

YAAAAAAAY! I couldn't click on this video faster than I did. I'm so, so, so, SO GLAD you're doing Lost Bits with Epic Mickey!!! I've loved this game forever (since it originally came out, basically) and was even honored to meet one of the people who worked on the original games (INCLUDING IRON GIANT) last year at my local Comic Con! I knew the game had much hidden and cut, but now I'm ready to dive back into Wasteland once more to see what it has been hiding for many long years! Thank you again, Mr. TetraBit!! 😃😃 14:01 It actually looks more like the textures used for the Anvil. Possibly an animation idea for it to disappear once the timer runs out?
Great video! If this video does well and you want to do another, there's a basically infinite well of unused stuff for both this game and the sequel that isn't documented on the tcrf article.
I used to play Epic Mickey for the Wii (the older one or something) and it was very fun and a little tricky. Nice to hear about it again after about 4 years.
I remember having the guidebook to this game, it was one of my favorites. This game was a challenge and I heavily relied on the book to get all the collectibles
Awesome that you’re making a video on this game! Wanna point out that there still is a morality system in this game, with the ability to make good or bad choices, but it did get somewhat cut as you mentioned during the 2009 demo bit.
These are some of my favorite games and it has my favorite Disney character (Oswald) in it. I would definitely love to see more Epic Mickey lost bits videos! Still sad that we didn’t get a true third one (or a fourth Disney Infinity, those concepts are nuts!) since the story leaves off for a third one. Maybe if the rebrushed one gets enough support it may help push for the third one again. It’s crazy how much was planned for this series of games (like a kart racer, Epic Donald, and more) that just got canceled because they decided that Disney games weren’t worth it.
anyone else remember a trailer/interview that was on the Wii news channel that showed an unused version of the first Mad Doctor cutscene? it seemed to imply Oswald was working with the doctor, I remember it so well because I swear the gameinformer and other interviews seemed to imply here and there that Oswald was originally intended to be overcome with jealousy and actively against Mickey, but I've never been able to find that video again
I just realized now the fact of how, like just about anything, the magic paintbrush is like a double-sided, two edge sword. Sort of. It can either be used for good, or evil
I truly hope we can see at least a bit of this return in the remaster. Especially the "morality" system since there were still some remnants of it in the original game.
I’m pretty sure in a leak from months ago they showed multiple costumes that are linked to the morality system so it could be similar to rdr2 having high and low honor exclusive items depending on how you play. The low honor Mickey was more yellowish with a mean look

Damn, I didn't even know about that early concept by High Impact Studios! A game entirely set in the rubberhose world of Mickey's past sounds pretty interesting... reminds me (and probably everyone else) of that one level in Kingdom Hearts 2, Timeless River... but it reminds me just as much of a level in the Phineas and Ferb: Across the 2nd Dimension game, the Old Timey Dimension. Doof even has a steamboat there lol
10:51 That is the model for when Mickey is jumping through the projector but it just doesn't have any textures. That's why it's purple edit: he said that i'm just dumb 😭

Absolutly buy rebrushed its great remake. Some of the art makes sence since they only existed the test the waters of what disney would allow knowing some of the consepts would be doomed to be scraped. The horror enemys and the beetelworks have got to be some of my fav designs

Absolutly buy rebrushed its great remake. Some of the art makes sence since they only existed the test the waters of what disney would allow knowing some of the consepts would be doomed to be scraped. The horror enemys and the beetelworks have got to be some of my fav designs
Surf the high seas for it instead ;)
@@ArtemisAYO why? The game is very accessible with the remake there isn't any reason to pirate it
If there’s no creative logic to a decision, it’s usually because of budget or time issues. Anyway I hope you enjoy the game it’s really amazing in my opinion!!
That’s enough fing slices
