I tend to believe it. Not because they "just worked harder/smarter," but because there's a genetic component to how well you respond to training AND to gear. But the negative side effects aren't necessarily pegged to the positive effects. Meaning you could be a weak responder to gear and get pretty bad side effects. So your choice is to accept your handicap or push it and be forced out for health reasons. So all else equal, the winner should be someone who responds well enough to the training and gear that they don't have to push dangerous or costly doses. The annoying thing is when they don't recognize this and rant about how everyone else is an idiot.

Phil still does bicep curls with 25 pound dumbbells BECAUSE he knows how to leave his ego at the door.
Peds do shrink time. Because you can recover faster. Hence you can train more often which builds muscle faster. They are called “anabolic” for a reason.
Those effects already happen around 300mg tho, beyond that it lets you grow bigger but not that much faster, that is why we see most guys still take years to grow even with all the gear they want
Eh, in theory sure. Dorian Yates trained 45 min 4x week and was double the size as most of the guys of this time that were training 2x a day 6 days a week. Frequency is not always better
I would put money you never have taken gear. Recovery can be faster but you can also push your body way harder and end up negating that recovery. Steroids aren’t a miracle drug, also steroids don’t help tendons to recover faster and most steroids actually impede tendon recovery and growth.
@@kirkchurchil8216 you are correct never taken but plenty of literature on the subject and you are right again about the tendons . I think Phil is a great bodybuilder I just don’t condone the BS Yes he worked extremely hard in the gym, yes he must follow a strict diet plan but Steroids is the third pillar. Emphasizing the first two while minimizing the 3rd is misleading. I respect the man that’s says he does all three, is a free country it’s your body your choice. Steroids are a huge leg up. Bodybuilding is built on all three pillars we all know this . Don’t give me this half pregnant shit. Let’s stop hiding the obvious. That was my point. I don’t look down on people who do steroids is not for me. I work in the medical field and give patients “drugs” everyday I’m also love working out.
I remember when you were into something you would run out and grab some magazines. Social media has nothing on the magazine days. You can learn a lot with the internet but there was something about the magazine days.
Doesn’t mean it’s optional It’s about balancing hormones When kids go from 16-26 naturally you see a big increase in everything, this is natural hormones at a balanced level, no steroids, there test is not at ridiculously high-levels, it’s a case of balance. Gear is the same, the combination and balance is key
Therapists in training should watch this as textbook nonverbal and paraverbal communication from an absolutely shameless narcissist that is lying through their teeth.
There's something clearly off about him, even without having any idea about therapy or human psychology. The way he stand and his need to emphasize on certain things is like when you were a kid and you were trying to lie to your parents and you could see on their face that they know you're lying.
I give him credit just because of the training mentality, the detail and the tactics for engaging muscles with lighter weight an the tricks he uses to strain particular muscle groups.
All pros and former pros now say they take/took very little. It's because saying they're drug free doesn't work any more because everyone knows the secret, so they are "honest" but took "very little" to make them look way better than all other users. I followed this idea for 8 years - 250mg/wk tren, 300mg/wk test. Old school like they all claim. Trained hard, ate well, put on 10kg muscle in 8 years. I then tried doubling it to what they actually took, and gained the next 8kg in 6 months. They took loads and got huge is the moral of that story.
@meepo262 and you only gained 20lbs??? Your gear was either fake, you're just as bad a liar as Phil, or Phil was describing you when he said people just want to let the drugs do the work for them.
Well, I mean, he'll be on them for life because his body won't produce sufficient test endogenously anymore. I'm pretty sure he meant psychologically addicted, not physiologically addicted to the drugs. As in they can't cope with having test levels that are within the reference range.
@@SPM-tv Well obviously he needs that. He was competing for so long, and they were still high doses, just not high compared to other pros. Did he say he didn't need TRT? When he says his doses were low he means relative other guys. This has been talked about by other bodybuilders. They have complained that Phil Heath responds well to low doses of gear. Low is all relative, not actually low at all, but for pro bodybuilding.
Respect Phil. Glad I got to meet him 10 years ago, was inspiring for me. However, his genetics are so fkn good, he doesn't need to try hard to play down the drugs lol. He did well.
Exactly. He is not every pro-bodybuilder; he is a seven-time Mr.Olympia winner. Why is it so crazy to think that his genetics allow him to use less gear?
Contrasting this interview with the interview with CBum is astounding. CBum was quiet and introspective and actually listened to Chris and Phil just be taking over him defensively like an asshole.
I appreciate that he talks about it. Just a bit or a lot off drugs does not matter. I am not a Phill Heat fan either and there is a big chance he is not honest about the doses. But still nice to hear him speak about his “ suplement “ use
What he said about having to decide if you are and influencer or a bodybuilder is a really good and interesting point. I feel like that goes for being a musician, or any craft these days. For example, I want to be a rapper. When trying to make an audience online sometimes I feel like im just becoming a tiktoker or instagram influencer and that just doesn't sit right.
The only truth from Phil is the limited resources amateurs have to spend. I personally saw Defendis win 88 USA with relatively low amounts of gear. To make up for it he used a lot of ephedrine to live off adrenal glands, ate SUPER clean, and did very little cardio so as not to lose muscle. He did train with SUPER intensity also
I believe Phil cause he made some factual points you can’t overlook his skin does look well and when did you ever see Phil with acne hood genetics really don’t need a lot plus if he abused it garunteed he would’ve had bad skin texture etc
I like this guy! I never took much, only a little. Then, he lists off nonstop labels and names of products that he has taken, every single item they mentioned he proceeds to mention that he took and sampled. He obviously is smart and basically sampled everything.
He certainly wasn't comfortable talking about this. His cadences in speech increased, his capacity to listen and over explaining all suggest he was maybe deceptive.
I actually agree that he prob didn’t take as much as people think. Some of the best, honestly don’t take as much as you think. Cbum, Arnold, cutler, etc. they had the genetics and the “ base” but took what they needed
I mean he had a big substance belly for years. But either way he's a legend. And true why buy from dealers instead of professional hormone doctors who get the medical grade products
Alot of pro athletes in all sports use substances. Therfore I personally don't judge. It only sucks when people in for example the Olympics have enough science and funding to cycle stuff and not get caught But anyway back to bodybuilding. I think Ronnie C and Arnold are the most iconic bodybuilders of all time, then a close 3rd Jay cutler. But Phil heath imo is nowhere near these 3. Not body wise icon status wise. Big ramy ruined his body with injuries and lost so much mass. He had a chance to be a new Ronnie. Ah well. Not a fan of Hadi Choopan, or nick walker. It's worse in other sports. It's the media and making steroids into something equal to terrorism. Among hardcore gym people gear talk is an average topic.
i think the guys with worse genetics (dont respond well to drugs) would take the least. the better you respond the closer you can get to the maximum optimal dose for each drug while continuing to see results. while others would lack progress regardless of dosage.
This is absolute nonsense. Any gym bro could take the same doses as these guys and i'd bet they'd get nowhere near the same results. Phil Heath is a freak, one of the most genetically gifted bodybuilders ever, and you reckon without drugs he'd be the same as Dave from Pure Gym.
Every single podcast I’ve listened to with Phil Heath on shows shows the difference between bodybuilders and real athletes. Cbum is an exception because he’s a revolutionary but real top tier athletes don’t act this way. Jordan, Gretzky, Brady wouldn’t ever act this way.
I basically believe most of what he said, it's just the way he says everything. Acting like everyone else is stupid if they did something different than him. If he was able to use "minimal doses" and get those results that's awesome, but if someone else had to be more aggressive and they accepted the risk that's their call. Like you said w Jordan, he talked trash to Kobe but I always felt like he respected Kobe. It doesn't seem like Phil respects anyone but Phil.
Some truth in there. The very best bodybuilders know how to take drugs and when to come off. They get their blood checked regularly, and their training and diet is so strict it takes a lot of descipline to do

Definitely has the genetics 🧬 and the argument about hyper responders is valid however it’s easy to downplay your use of AAS because you don’t want to admit the chemicals played that big a part in your development.
Some people in the comments are such amateurs that they don’t understand that Heath is a genetic unique, like many other Mr. Olympias, and this allows them to achieve success at low dosages. These people are trying to judge by themselves, but you don't have the genetics of a 7x Mr. Olympia, how do you know how his body works on such low dosages? This is madness

Nah he's just spitting facts about how many people blast PEDS or think they need to blast them in order to get results.
He should absolutely be arrogant about it, people need to hear this more than they need to hear that mad steroids will get them the body they want.
Everybody else needs humility.
@@kirkchurchil8216 not true, ente decadurabolin
This guy can’t lie.. too funny.
I remember when you were into something you would run out and grab some magazines. Social media has nothing on the magazine days. You can learn a lot with the internet but there was something about the magazine days.
Phil seems so nervous and uneasy with this topic. He’s an absolute legend but the vibe seems strange idk how to explain it.
Most bodybuilders don't like to talk about it.
He’s on defense. Doing so much talking, trying to shut down questions before they’re asked
Ego. He can’t handle the idea of not getting full credit for his brilliance, so he angrily refutes the idea he needed enhancements.
His vibe is always like this on camera. He's an intense person who seems on edge on all the time.
You really dont know how to explain it? Seriously? How about he's lying through his teeth as the explanation. Jesus Christ.
Suuuuuuuure you did Phil. Sure you did
Phil really made himself unlikeable in this podcast
He already made himself unlikeable during his Mr. Olympia rub
Just in this podcast? Are you sure it wasn't his entire career? 😆
He's always been like this.
He just failed to hide it this time
Lol he does his entire life
I read the comments and a lot of people have criticized you negatively. I think you definitely deserve respect.
Typical protocol is 2-5 grams 15-22 IU of growth and insulin igf-1 not to mention the orals, clen and diuretics
Doesn’t mean it’s optional
It’s about balancing hormones
When kids go from 16-26 naturally you see a big increase in everything, this is natural hormones at a balanced level, no steroids, there test is not at ridiculously high-levels, it’s a case of balance. Gear is the same, the combination and balance is key
@@latbeast I never said it was
Lol somehow every bodybuilder is taking less than every other body builder
Did you ever see Phil covered in zits and gyno... ever hear of him in and out of the hospital? What a dumb thing you say
I feel like I'm listening to the Neil degrass Tyson of bodybuilding😅
I like your analogy. Spot on!
Or the Jesse Ventura of bodybuilding (check his talk with Theo Vonn)
Lmao
That dude's always on his own planet.
Fr lol
Therapists in training should watch this as textbook nonverbal and paraverbal communication from an absolutely shameless narcissist that is lying through their teeth.
So that's why I can't stand him. Great explanation.
There's something clearly off about him, even without having any idea about therapy or human psychology. The way he stand and his need to emphasize on certain things is like when you were a kid and you were trying to lie to your parents and you could see on their face that they know you're lying.
Therapy= pseudoscience.
They took loads and got huge is the moral of that story.
you were on 250 mg tren a week for 8 years!?
@meepo262 and you only gained 20lbs??? Your gear was either fake, you're just as bad a liar as Phil, or Phil was describing you when he said people just want to let the drugs do the work for them.
But you look small though
You didn't do it right than or you just have bad genetics I put 7kg on 125 test c every 5 days in 6 months@@farizazhari61
@@meepo262you know what I mean. Standard 10-on, 6-off.
Started at 500 ended up 1250 then 1500
But I’m not a drug addict
Doing steroids for 15 years and still on but I am not a drug addict
Very interesting
Well, I mean, he'll be on them for life because his body won't produce sufficient test endogenously anymore. I'm pretty sure he meant psychologically addicted, not physiologically addicted to the drugs. As in they can't cope with having test levels that are within the reference range.
the way I heard it was that he tried 1500 then 17.5... 1750 but got too watery.
I find it interesting how he says he took less than everybody whilst casually mentioning he went up to 1750mg of Test.
Right!? He’s acting like he did a 500/300 test deca cycle but only during show time. Bro you dont use 1750 mg and not end up on TRT.
Phil sounds like the new Shawn Ray.
Telling it like it is.
Love it. ❤
This video shows why everyone loves Jay, Ronnie, and Bumstead so much.
Respect Phil. Glad I got to meet him 10 years ago, was inspiring for me. However, his genetics are so fkn good, he doesn't need to try hard to play down the drugs lol. He did well.
Facts that I think people don't understand
Exactly. He is not every pro-bodybuilder; he is a seven-time Mr.Olympia winner. Why is it so crazy to think that his genetics allow him to use less gear?
@@70094kidhes the only guy I would believe take less than everyone his muscles is just build different
Was he absolutely unbearable to be around in person as well? Because watching anything where he speaks is horrible.
Contrasting this interview with the interview with CBum is astounding. CBum was quiet and introspective and actually listened to Chris and Phil just be taking over him defensively like an asshole.
Thought that was Kurt Angle for a second. Would love to hear about how his neck fusion is going. Im 5 years in on my bone plug an c6-c7 fusion
I appreciate that he talks about it. Just a bit or a lot off drugs does not matter. I am not a Phill Heat fan either and there is a big chance he is not honest about the doses. But still nice to hear him speak about his “ suplement “ use
Kids… he’s not just another “pro bodybuilder”… absolute legend
Hyped for this pod
Terribly disappointed, dude is full of it
Come on... dude is definitely downplaying everything. The stomach growth comes from high AAS and a lot of insulin and gh.
Why Ramy doesn't have it Derek chopan Samson 🤦♂️
@@med_ayhem_benabda ramy does, Samson probably has the best waistline, it's an anomaly

Phil with the Dbz analogy GOAT!!!!
Great interview
Phil sounds like a pretty intelligent guy. Great advice from the champ.
except hes lying
Phill sounds so wise and so confident but something does not feel right about him .
The highest test he took is 1.3 and in the same breath says 1.5
Lol, it's called being a narcissist,
Narcissism...full fucking blown..
Watching this whilst alcohol swabbing my T400, Tren and Mast vials.
Phil seems genuine
What he said about having to decide if you are and influencer or a bodybuilder is a really good and interesting point. I feel like that goes for being a musician, or any craft these days. For example, I want to be a rapper. When trying to make an audience online sometimes I feel like im just becoming a tiktoker or instagram influencer and that just doesn't sit right.
Phil just moved up on my top 5 bodybuilders of all time list 🙏🏾
Phil would be absolutely wrapped 🎉
This is so insightful and Phil is incredibly knowledgeable. Strange "interview" though, Phil dominating the conversation 😂
He did train with SUPER intensity also
Most wont remember Defendis. He was a monster
Looking for an online source for quality trt and anavar in the uk ?
Crazy knowledge and facts phill is speaking here LITTERALLY gold the truth litterally
I know this guy is a icon in bodybuilding but i don’t like his attitude
Yeah - based in this clip imma skip this episode
It absolute stinks doesn't it
Can’t wait for the full episode! Chris, please have Kai Green on your show too!
Phil Heath is a cool dude. I learned a lot from him listening to this video. 💪
Phil Heath is a very smart intelligent dude. He’s speaking facts! He’s also right. You gotta have a life after bodybuilding
Is that what he said? I couldn't hear anything over how annoying and oddly insecure he is.
I actually agree that he prob didn’t take as much as people think. Some of the best, honestly don’t take as much as you think. Cbum, Arnold, cutler, etc. they had the genetics and the “ base” but took what they needed
cbum pretty much confirmed he takes everything except tren
I hope to see more interviews about this subject
Great interview. Phil Heath is one of my favorite Mr. O’s. Very transparent and honest.
Phil never ran insulin my ass 😂😂😂
I mean he had a big substance belly for years. But either way he's a legend. And true why buy from dealers instead of professional hormone doctors who get the medical grade products
I've seen insulin and GH causing that. Steroids don't, from what I've seen
Alot of pro athletes in all sports use substances. Therfore I personally don't judge. It only sucks when people in for example the Olympics have enough science and funding to cycle stuff and not get caught
But anyway back to bodybuilding.
Nick walker personality is so trash, he's the embodiment of gen z toxic entitlement
I judge. The rules rule - or you are a theif.. @@VirtousStoic

Once you are done cleaning all of these up. Come talk about doping.
Go watch the countless documentaries on how Olympians dope and have the science teams to help them avoid getting caught.
People dope because there are scientists helping them cheat. Not just some trainer or dealer.
Is it fair or ethical or right. Nope
But if you think most of your favorite athletes are clean, you are living in dreamland.
At the end of the day, doping or not. Effort is needed to succeed. More effort than you will ever achieve in your lifetime. Substances don't work like popeyes spinach buddy. And nowadays there are so many ways to dope without HGH Tren HRT etc. That it's harder and harder to catch.

He says he never took insulin. Bullshit
PED usage will always be the biggest mystery in body building. They don’t talk about it, don’t like to talk about it. And unspoken rule is, don’t ask each other about it. They will go to their grave with their true PED usage.
It's worse in other sports. It's the media and making steroids into something equal to terrorism.
Among hardcore gym people gear talk is an average topic.
its massive doseage...2000- 5000mg /day TESTO
impressive how he know exactly what everyone else took
i think the guys with worse genetics (dont respond well to drugs) would take the least. the better you respond the closer you can get to the maximum optimal dose for each drug while continuing to see results. while others would lack progress regardless of dosage.
1. Genetics
2. Drugs
3. Lifting
In that order
These guys always downplay their massive drug use. Without drugs they are just another gym bro.
Not really, these guys are elite genetically, trust me they would still be big, on small doses or even natty, if they wanted to
But I agree with you, I think many of them massively downplay there usage, and would be no where near the size, without them,
@@WillThomas-hs3ojI don't trust you!
They get their blood checked regularly, and their training and diet is so strict it takes a lot of descipline to do
Phil is crushing Chris on this debate.
Phil really wasn't allowing Chris to get a word In lol.

Wow. Phil sounds like such a down to earth guy! I mean common 😂😂😂!
This is better than Tom Platz one shot of deca weekly and 20mg of winny 😂😂😂😊

I heard tom platz saying he injected test every 24h
I met Phil heath at LA Fitness in Tukwilia Wa didn’t recognize him and asked if he was in town for the Evergreen classic lol he was like “I’m a pro” as he was Mr Olympia Seattle legend
1500mg of test, which I'm sure he was taking other drugs along with, so let's say 2g a week, it's hardly the minor amount he's trying to convince everyone of.
Definitely has the genetics 🧬 and the argument about hyper responders is valid however it’s easy to downplay your use of AAS because you don’t want to admit the chemicals played that big a part in your development.
@@vinceandrich4603 Exactly

Phil was the greatest ever, 3D body. The top of his forearms are unreal 👏
"Dude I barley used anything, only like 1750 of sust a week"😂
in the pros, they on like 2000mg/day
Some people in the comments are such amateurs that they don’t understand that Heath is a genetic unique, like many other Mr. Olympias, and this allows them to achieve success at low dosages. These people are trying to judge by themselves, but you don't have the genetics of a 7x Mr. Olympia, how do you know how his body works on such low dosages? This is madness
Great show
Phil heath, Dorian, Ronnie, big jay, all top level pros always conveniently say they took less than everyone else 😂
If one person could be a genetic specimen and get away with low-ish doses in the beginning of thier career, Phil Heath would be the person.
