Been collecting for the original Xbox for about 3 months and have usually gotten a batch of 6 games for $60 or $70. Great prices for some classic games, or even hidden gems
@someguywithacoconut9895 except that last statement unfortunately isn't true. There are tons of people paying these absurd prices because the scare of physical games being a rare collectable since we are heading rapidly towards a digital only future, so we get games like zelda twilight princess going for over 100 dollars
Yep i got my copy of Quantum Redshift before they all get snatched up lol... found one for $5 at my local shop, and see it as low as $3.99 online! If you haven't played this, give it a spin! The very fact that people are returning to long-past favorites is a testament to the games & their makers. ♡
Both ‘Arctic Thunder’ by Midway, and ‘Quantum Redshift’ by Microsoft were my favorite (and only) racing games as a kid. I didn’t realize, until recently, that Quantum Redshift has an actual story behind it, with rivalries between the player characters. Playing Medal of Honor: Frontline & Rising Sun in multiplayer was also an entertaining, & memorable experience. My brother once threw a ‘nade at my father, and it glitched to my dad’s characters chest and exploded! This was before war games had sticky grenades, which is why this was so impressive.
I think Full Spectrum Warrior was developed in some fashion with the army for research or training purposes or something so it was meant to be as realistic as it could be in terms of strategy and options.
my buddy bought it for me so i'd learn to stop running and gunning in socom and battlefield modern combat. it didnt help lol. played the game for an hour and tossed it to the side. im still the same to this day with the same buddies. lol

Ah, Psi Ops and Second Sight, two games I always wanted as a kid since I saw them in gaming magazines. I bought Second Sight for PS2 this year, it was ok. 5:06 - I still play that every now and then. What's cool about that game is it plays at native 1080i on an original Xbox. Also backwards compatible on 360 as well.
Only heard of a few of these games, but owned Brute Force which of course I completely forgot about. Friends and I used to play it a little bit back then.
I've mainly been collecting for it this last year or so. I've gotten about 20 more to my collection plus this cool Spider-Man controller. I feel it's still the most affordable of those consoles of that era to buy for PS2 it depends but is definitely more expensive overall and GameCube like I've bought a few GameCube games but damn if it isn't super expensive to do so.
Rallisport Challenge 2 is the reason I ended up picking up an Xbox. It's got a great handling model with a solid selection of tracks and event types. Plus the DLC was really well done and added some unique and interesting vehicles. It's still going for about $10 right now.

@@pes5forever the rest of the game is great with a great challenge to it. The last level is kind of one of those levels where you can't go too high or the AA blasts you out of the sky, but you also have to raise up to take shots at the base, so you also have to evade a ton, but you're also on a time limit. All while transporting ground troops that you have to protect. Kind of makes the star wars trench run look easy from what i remember and that timer is the worst part. I'm sure there's a way to get it done no problem, but I haven't figured it out yet.
Psi-Ops was one of my brother and I’s favorite games to play as a kid. Such an awesome game and it was a Midway game I think so you could put in a cheat code and play the game in an old school MK Scorpion Ninja Skin.
Also Kingdom Under Fire was so dope! Always ticked me off they made the new one on Steam an MMO with pay to win features, that’s why it failed, they took a crap on an awesome series.

Super awesome video, MJR. As well as the PlayStation 2 and GameCube, I also loved the Original Xbox. Night of 100 Frights
Great picks overall but I'd suggest Phantom Crash and Gun Metal over Brute Force. Many of these games are backwards compatible as well. Battle Engine Aquila, Metal Arms, and Quantum Redshift will play on the Xbox 360, whereas MX vs. ATV Unleashed and Full Spectrum Warriors are also playable on the newer XB1/XSX systems.
Highly recommend Conker Reloaded, Grabbed by the Ghoulies, Fahrenheit (Indigo Prophecy), Midway Arcade Treasures series, Yager, The Warriors and Red Dead Revolver to name a few, the Xbox is such a sweet spot system for great games with fantastic graphics, gameplay and good audio too, when hooked up to a nice CRT, can be either a SD or EDTV (progressive scan) CRT with a decent sound system, you are in for a real treat and can enjoy really good examples of some of the best titles released at that time. I have well over a hundred OGXB games now, also really enjoy the XB360, which too is a sweet spot for games of that time period as it plays them so well, and they look great, especially on a VGA CRT monitor, something which the 360 has natively, the VGA output looks incredible to this day, much like the Dreamcast VGA mode, the OGXB can also do VGA if you get the official HD cable, it has analogue component output, just convert that to VGA, or your VGA monitor might be able to take component directly if it has sync on green, many do, it's worth it because the OGXB looks its absolute best on a VGA CRT monitor, Conker Reloaded in 480p on a VGA monitor looks better than a lot of modern games do.
Awesome video my friend. I love the original Xbox, I've been collecting for it for over 20 years now. I love the Original Xbox so much, that I own a complete North American Original Xbox set, along with several different variants for various games, and some import titles from PAL and Japanese territories. My brother and I played Bloodwake a lot when we first got the Original Xbox. It's definitely a title that every Xbox owner should try out. I enjoyed that Metal Arms Glitch in the System, another fun game that runs better on the Original Xbox compared to the PlayStation 2 version. Full Spectrum Warrior was a fun title. It's awesome that it's backwards compatible on the Xbox One/Xbox Series consoles. Brute Force is one of my favorite early original Xbox games that I've played several different times over the years, but I've never actually beat the game. I kept restarting the story over after years of not playing it. I need to finally beat it this year and see it's ending. That's a game that's been haunting me since the first day I played it. Keep up the great work on the channel.
@@zachross8081 Yeah, I wish the Xbox Series X had 100% backwards compatibility with the Original Xbox. The games that are backwards compatible, run really well and get a great visual boost to the graphics.
Man, some of these games gave me serious nostalgia. Does anyone else remember a game called Giants: Citizen Kabuto? I loved that game when I was younger. I’d love to see that game featured on this channel. I’ve been subscribed for what feels like almost ten years now.
MX Unleashed was the reason I got into alt metal. Trust Company, Ra and so much more on that soundtrack were such core memories as a kid playing with my cousin.
Max Payne, Halo 1&2, Taito Legends( Rastan) Midway Treasures, Namco Collection(Rolling Thunder), Mortal Kombat Deception and Mortal Kombat Armageddon, etc. Thanx for the video!
I missed ya Metal Jesus, I was wondering why I hadn't seen any recent videos, probably last like 6 or so months.I thought you quit making videos, turns out, I had been unsubscribed. I resubscribed immediately. Oh and Kingdom Under Fire, that was a deep dive, I had forgotten. It brought back alot of memories of the OG Xbox. Great video as always.
There's an obscure game called Special Forces: Nemesis Strike you might want to spotlight. It's a third-person shooter with vehicles and a sky diving gimmick.
Just a heads up on Full Spectrum Warrior: it has a sequel / expansion called Ten Hammers, whatever you do, don't pick that one, it has a bug that deletes your save file and forces you to start the game from the beginning, I could never get past the third mission because of it
I have Psi-Ops for the PlayStation 2. I remember getting stuck in it early and never returning to it. I do want to give it another go eventually. One Xbox game I did get for 20 bucks (I think at least) was Tony Hawk 2X. It's basically Tony Hawk 1 and 2 from the PS1 and N64 combined into one game. Very happy to have it.
One of my favorite underrated Original Xbox games was Kung Fu Chaos! It was a fighting game that plays kind of like Powerstone 2 on the Dreamcast with players fighting against each other with also the ability to interact with the stage you are in. 😇
Finally Quantum Redshift gets some recognition. The OG Xbox has the most underrated and barely talked about game library in all of gaming. And most of them still look great to this very day. Another great game that no one talks about is Voodoo Vince also on Xbox and Xbox One.

Yeah, I was also reminded of Dropship, have not played since release though.
@@pes5forever the last level is insanely brutal. I'm still trying to figure out how to beat it.
@@GregAtlas I never got that far so I don't remember, hopefully I find time to play it again.
Thank you for this video. I am currently collecting for the original Xbox and this helps a lot.
Glad to hear it!
I appreciate this video a lot, don't know a whole lot about the Xbox and it's fascinating to see what I missed out on
Psi-Ops was such a good game. It desperately needs either a sequel or a remake. Or both!
Even just a remaster running in 4k with slightly modified controls, consistent 60fps and a budget price, would be enough.
Awesome list Metal Jesus!
Was that the amazing* John Hancock joining you for that hunt?!
The original Xbox was SO special and fun! Thank you!
*I know, I know: "immortal"
(friggin LOVE that guy! ;)
Oh man, what a trip down memory lane. I loved the original Xbox era. Brute Force, Full Spectrum Warrior, and Blood Wake were some of my favorites.
As a European, this is the only thing I envy to America. Finding a full store of affordable old games is impossible here.
Btw. Xbox 1 is a great, legendary console.
We don't have free Healthcare so we need something to balance it out.
@@Cinemaphile7783 Good point. That is true.
Man, the intro of your videos still takes me to 2016 when I started watching your videos. Love it.
Wow, thanks!
Jason please give us an updated ps2 buying guide soon. I’d also love to see a hidden gems video for ps2 down the line as well
I have a great idea for a future video. Topic: Cheap Effective Video Game Accessories: I recommend GBSC, Xbox2hdmi (Electron Shepherd), HD VIDEO CONVERTER Scart HDMI, Brook Wingman XB Converter, and anything else that helps with video game adapters/add ons in general. I love that kind of stuff. thx u MJR.
Super awesome video, MJR. As well as the PlayStation 2 and GameCube, I also loved the Original Xbox.
There are a lot of super awesome games for the Original Xbox and here are some of the games I like to recommend:
Bloody Roar Extreme
Crimson Sea
Street Fighter: Anniversary Collection
Soulcalibur II
Wreckless: The Yakuza Missions
OutRun 2
ToeJam & Earl III: Mission to Earth
Crazy Taxi 3: High Roller
Spikeout: Battle Street
Grabbed by the Ghoulies
Loons: The Fight for Fame
Chase: Hollywood Stunt Driver
Gunvalkyrie
Capcom vs. SNK 2 EO
Marvel vs. Capcom 2
Breakdown
Sudeki
Freaky Flyers
Disney's Extreme Skate Adventure
The Simpsons: Road Rage
The Simpsons: Hit & Run
Tom & Jerry in War of the Whiskers
and
Scooby-Doo!
I have fond memories of playing split screen co-op Brute Force with my brother and two friends. Was very fun!
This is seriously unlocking some lost memories in my brain. That mech / jet game was sick
I wish we had more original Xbox games for backwards compatible on Xbox One
@@zachross8081 Yeah, I wish the Xbox Series X had 100% backwards compatibility with the Original Xbox. The games that are backwards compatible, run really well and get a great visual boost to the graphics.
Kingdom Under Fire is a hidden gem. I loved it as a kid. Really fun mix between tactics and hack and slash!
I remember playing Battle Engine Aquila on my PC in the early 2000s, and for the time amount of detailed units on the battlefield just blew my mind.
I am so glad someone else mentions Metal Arms Glitch in the system. was by far my favorite Xbox game.
Man, some of these games gave me serious nostalgia. Does anyone else remember a game called Giants: Citizen Kabuto? I loved that game when I was younger. I’d love to see that game featured on this channel. I’ve been subscribed for what feels like almost ten years now.
How about Fuzion Frenzy? Microsoft's answer to mario party, and it still holds up today!
A lot of the Inde game stores by me have good prices. Usually $10-25 for Old games.
MX Unleashed was the reason I got into alt metal. Trust Company, Ra and so much more on that soundtrack were such core memories as a kid playing with my cousin.
Trust Company 👍
OG Xbox is so underrated, there are so many good games on it
Max Payne, Halo 1&2, Taito Legends( Rastan) Midway Treasures, Namco Collection(Rolling Thunder), Mortal Kombat Deception and Mortal Kombat Armageddon, etc. Thanx for the video!
You had me at ‘story driven naval combat game’
Preaching to the choir here. Original Xbox is my favorite console. Incredible video Jason. You highlighted some excellent titles.
Much appreciated!
I thought NTSC (U.S.A.) Xboxes could not play PAL (European) games? Is that not the case or only in certain cases?
Yes, unless the Xbox is moded
- Oddworld Stranger
- Beyond Good & Evil
- Call of Cathulhu
- Dreamfall
- Fable
- Half-Life 2
- Indiana Jones
- Jade Empire
- Psychonauts
- Voodoo Vince
- Tombraider Legend
- Riddick
