"She's a myth that I have to believe in, all I need to make her real is one more reason" is my favorite line, and exactly where I'm at in life right now
"The differences (between the two tracks) are subtle - 'Vermilion, Pt. 1' is about the enrapturing, the buildup, the anticipation and the neurosis," says Taylor. "'Part 2' is the aftermath, the pieces that have to be picked up later, and maybe the guilt of having lived through it." Both songs are said to be about lost or unrequited love from a possibly suicidal person's perspective.
I prefer Pt. 2 myself, but I rarely listen to one without the other. I love them both because it's unlike anything I've ever heard before, with them taking a rough, heavy song like Pt. 1 and turning it into this melodious, solemn ballad. So, so glad you did these back to back! You rock, man. Peace!!
When I got to hear Vermillion part 2 for the first time, I was at a really bad place. My depression had led me to sleepless nights and thoughts of ending my life. in my head the song serenaded the concept of happiness from the viewpoint of a depressed mind. You want so badly to be happy, you're obsessed with the idea of living a "happy" life. Weirdly the part "I won't let this build up inside of me" is now tattood on my rib cage and stands for the fight I fight every day against depression. I accept that it's still there, but it's not gonna win.
This song is so deeply and emotionally connected to me and some of the moments in my life that haunt me to this day (you can guess what it is) This is pure art that can lay something important in your heart, Corey’s voice and lyrics speak through me
Ive also liked part 2 more as well the acoustic guitar i think is what does it for me it just sounds beautiful with Corey's vocals you gotta check out rats by ghost
SUUUUPER late, but honestly, while part 2 still deserves the lion's share of credit, part 1 is underappreciated for the ways in which it establishes the context for part 2.
Yeah vermillion part 2 is way more disturbing then part 1. They have similar lyrics but they are very different songs. One is the build up to the deed and the other is the regret after it is finished
This is still my all time favorite song. Came into my life when I needed to hear it the most, the lyrics felt like my train of thought word for word at the time and I get emotional every time I hear it. That's why slipknot is my favorite band, they are both ends of my music taste.
The album Vol.3 The Subliminal Verses changed my life. It was easily one of the most important albums in my life. Brutal and absolutely psychotic heaviness combined with gripping and often incredibly tender sentiment. Their music is nihilistic, literate, and intelligent. Vol.3 explored every dimension of Slipknot's sound and clobbered the barometer in each direction. Not only are the songs top notch, but the production of the album is some of the best I've ever heard; crisp and dense, almost every track bleeds into the next. Songs fuse and morph together, sometimes in stark and incredible contrast to the former song to make you stir in your seat. Needless to say bro, you should listen to the whole thing, in your own time if not for a review. \m/
I always love it when musicians do that. Put out two parts of a song, where the parts are totally different but are still linked. Another great example you could check out is suicide note 1 and 2 by Pantera.
Please stop reading the meanings of the song before you listen, look at that after so you don't go into something with a fixed view, song meanings can be ambiguous :) Make it what you will, that's why songs are great, so you can find a moment in your life when you can relate
He's doing the right thing cause rock and metal songs usually have deep meanings to them that people don't understand by the way the lyrics are being expressed, so he'd rather be informed first hand than to listen to songs confused.
i´d rather like to hear his fresh interpretaition by listening to the song with pulled up lyrics first - followed by reacting (or just reading...what will cause an reaction of corse) to the actual meaning. That would be ideal imo ;) But... thats just me. Feel free to feel different about it
no, you make your own opinion then look up the meaning. You're not going to read up on spoilers before you watch a movie so why do the same for a song?
I never knew the name to this song...but once it started to play, I instantly knew what it was. I use to lay in bed at 13 years old and just cry to this song blaring in my ears. Helped to get out my sadness for the night so I could sleep. Bands like Slipknot, Korn, and System of the Down were what I used to cry or silent scream to once everyone was asleep in the house....I was bullied most of my life. It was nice to find a strange sense of peace from this type of music.
im really thankful that you have taken the time to explore our beloved metal through your channel and found that there is still beauty within a genre that intimidates many on face value.
Corey Taylor is my favorite singer, and it’s not even close. I’m not a HUGE Slipknot fan (that’s not to say I don’t like them, they just aren’t top 5 for me) but Corey Taylor is just so incredible. He can do anything. Whether it’s screaming like a demon, or beautiful clean vocals like this one and Snuff. He can even fucking rap! He also has a ridiculous range. I don’t remember what it is exactly, but it’s stupid big. Edit: just googled it, it’s estimated to be between 5-6 octaves... wtf For comparison, we can all agree Adele is a great singer. Her estimated range is 2.5 octaves.
Yeah. I'd recommend The Rime Of The Ancient Mariner. It may be a little too long for him though. Maybe powerslave would be better. All live of course. They rock best live.
more a fan of part 2, the sound is so beautiful. I love to play it to some of my non metal friends before I introduce them to slipknot to get their reaction. oh and could you react to deftones once again, they also have a bit of a duality song, Back to School a.k.a. Mini Maggit and then Pink Maggit.
For me, this song speaks directly to unrequited love. Echoing “she isn’t real” over and over is like an affirmation to himself that she doesn’t feel what he does, and this love is not real because she does not share his sentiments. Almost like, she isn’t real - this love isn’t real - telling himself he must stop letting it build up and stop letting his feelings for her deepen. That being said, this could speak to so many things more than just unrequited love. Addiction, depression, etc. Things that seem real but are just stolen moments in the dark with someone/something that will leave you as empty as ever when the morning comes. The beautiful tragedy in his voice is so haunting and resonates on such a deep level. That connection is what music is all about
The breaths on between the "a catch in my throat....choke" and after that really caught my attention. Its like someone who is either out of breath or turned on by the stalking of the prey or something like that
Hey Alex! Yes, I was super impressed with Vermilion 1 and parts 2 and 3 as well. The obvious corpse raided up and floating around in the wind gave me a sense of ascension after death, but it also reminded me of the classic song from Kansas "Dust In The Wind" ("all we are in dust in the wind...". This journey with you and Slipknot is definitely one of enlightenment, because this is definitely a side of Slipknot I haven't seen before. I honestly love both songs, but I'm leaning a little towards the acoustic version of part 2 a little more, but both are bad ass! Thanks again for the reaction video, as always!
Personally I don't think the lyrics need to imply an actual malicious intent. During my breakup and eventual divorce this song held alot of meaning for me. It helped immensely. She meant the world to me, though fallible and imperfect. When she smiled, my heart would stop. In the end, she stopped smiling for me. At me. With me. And nothing I did could bring that back. The woman I married was gone. She wasn't the girl I fell in love with anymore. She wasn't "real" and I couldn't make her that person again. I had to delete messages, burn notes, destroy memorabilia to keep myself safe. To become the person I didn't want to be, but had no choice. I had to kill the memory of her to move on. Just my perspective.
Hello Alex! So I'm kinda new to your channel and I'm (literally) having a marathon with your videos and your reactions and I feel like you are such an open-minded person! It makes me so happy to see that a person who likes hip-hop is so open to experience rock and heavier sounds in general. I'm myself a big fan of rock, metal etc. but I also love other genres, because you know... there is so much great music in this world and it would be shame to limit yourself! I hope you're having an amazing day!!
Corey Taylor is one of the most talented vocalists of all time. He can do heavy music, but also great clean singing. Check out his solo live concerts, they are just amazing ;)
i stumbled across your channel through other reaction videos. I love that you are a "Hip-Hop Head" that digs deep into other genres with an open mind. Thanks for the hard work that goes into each of these videos. Don't let anyone throw shade at you.
I think it's about a dude that is so in love with this chick he's disillusioned about who she really is. He's been blinded by his obsession with her, and doesn't know what to do when she ends up just making him sad. She'll never be the girl he's built her up to be in his mind.
Your reaction to part 2 was the exact same as I had in high school listening to Vol. 3 and it came on. I had listened to part 1, so I figured part 2 would be similar. To this day Part 2 is one of my favorite songs. The melody, the harmonies, the string arrangement, everything about it makes it a beautiful song. Add Corey's voice and passion on top and it's almost perfect.
I would imagine he goes to a gif catalog and type the words he wants to say and then pick one and find the matching video. Which is awesome he is super good at it.
SONGS YOU NEED TO HEAR Iron Man - Black Sabbath STAIRWAY TO HEAVEN - Led Zeppelin (best rock song of all time) Kashmir - Led Zeppelin Black Sabbath - Black Sabbath Immigrant Song - Led Zeppelin
Pragmatic Justice I applaud your persistence! Of course most of those song are over 7 minutes long, sooo... & have you heard the Gregorian versions of all of the above? Kashmir may have been one of the best! Rock on all!
Maggie Rezac yea but their such classics and this channel is about someone discovering rock music so how can they not react to stair way or something like that lol
Douglas fresh I am determined. It'll happen...or it might turn into a meme kinda like the guy on Mike's channel who requests Paschendal by Iron Maiden every Song Suggestion Friday lol
She = life, love and peace. Not the surface of the words, deeper. My take, is that he's singing of the struggle to quell the fires within without openly showing it, to have love that can't fade or be taken away through betrayal or loss, and to greet death knowing nothing in life that truly mattered was left unfulfilled. No longing, no sorrow, no void.
I'd really love to hear your reactions to songs from the band Polaris! :D They are a metalcore band from australia, super dynamic, heavy, and they utilize that sweetspot between screaming and clean singing like nobody else! Polaris - Relapse Polaris - Frailty Polaris - Dusk to Day Polaris - The Remedy Polaris - ... :,D
There is also remix version of this. Is in the All Hope Is Gone album. It's my favourite Vermilion. Probaply because it's the first Vermilion I ever heard.
The idea for this video is that she’s blowing around in the wind like paper, or perhaps a fleeting idea- a figment of his imagination. Beautiful song, badass band. Glad you reacted to this! New subscriber:))
Glad to see a hip-hop guy getting into and liking hard rock and metal music. Slipknot is one of my top five favorite bands of all time and before I researched it myself, I always thought that Vermilion parts one and two were about unrequited love. I still interpret the songs as such and me and my girlfriend love these songs. As a good suggestion, listen to Slipknot's Snuff. It's about breaking up and having love for someone and them not reciprocating it. It's a track I listen to when I feel the pain that my exes put me through.
Add to Bucket List: Do a reaction with you. I love your energy and your positive attitude. I watch your videos every day. Your reaction at times is more entertaining than the music video's itself. Keep it going and keep it growing, brother. You are doing something and making a difference in someone's day out there. Take care of yourself, man.
I’ve always loved how similar both parts are. It’s like a regular and negative of the same photo. Your looking at (listening to) the same thing but it’s polar opposites.
Those last “I can’t make her real” never fail to make me emotional.
Same tho, that last section of the song makes me astral project every time
Same bro!!! So good
I've never been able to listen to the song without crying; reminds me too much of my ex-girlfriend whom I'm still in love with 💔
"She's a myth that I have to believe in, all I need to make her real is one more reason" is my favorite line, and exactly where I'm at in life right now
fr dude, it just give you that type of feeling.
His voice is incredible on this song it pisses me off when people say that he can't sing
Ditto
BRO WHO THE FUCK SAID COREY CAN'TTTT SINGGG?
His voice is beyond wonderful
@@negativecreep44 that's what I thought too
HOW could anyone 😄
To me it's like magic
Such an amazing being
Oh my god his voice is like honey
I've literally never heard a single person say he can't sing.
"The differences (between the two tracks) are subtle - 'Vermilion, Pt. 1' is about the enrapturing, the buildup, the anticipation and the neurosis," says Taylor. "'Part 2' is the aftermath, the pieces that have to be picked up later, and maybe the guilt of having lived through it." Pt 2 is heavy too, just in a different way ;)

He wont do it. I gave up after requesting it for 2 months with like 50-150 likes everytime lol
Atreyu1107 VG yeah he said he already reacted to it so I agree that it had to have been taken down...does anyone know why it was taken down?
This song is so deeply and emotionally connected to me and some of the moments in my life that haunt me to this day (you can guess what it is)
This is pure art that can lay something important in your heart, Corey’s voice and lyrics speak through me

Vermillion Part 2 is basically the acoustic version of Vermillion. Please do Left Behind!
Actually, part 2 is surprisingly darker than part 1. Pay attention to the lyrics and you'll see that they are very different songs.

Perfer part 2 more, although I'm a metalhead, this is quite beautiful. For me, it's quite relaxing.
Do this one :BEAST IN BLACK - Blind And Frozen (OFFICIAL VIDEO) 80´s power metal is back!!
Danzig-Mother pls :)
The lyrics are really powerful. This song is brilliant and sublime.
React to Opeth Ghost Of Perdition Live at the Roundhouse
Glad to see a hip-hop guy getting into and liking hard rock and metal music. Slipknot is one of my top five favorite bands of all time and before I researched it myself, I always thought that Vermilion parts one and two were about unrequited love. I still interpret the songs as such and me and my girlfriend love these songs. As a good suggestion, listen to Slipknot's Snuff. It's about breaking up and having love for someone and them not reciprocating it. It's a track I listen to when I feel the pain that my exes put me through.
Can you react to afterlife by avenged sevenfold??
This is one of my fav Avenged Sevenfold songs. The solo is so good.
Amazing solo Bruh!
That would be DOPE!
Du Riechst So Gut yes please!
Like em both... but I like part one more because I won a contest and $500 with that song 🤘🏼🤘🏼
I can't wait for you to hear part 3, its good as well and don't forget that there's a bloodstone mix they produced on part 2 as well
Do "Halo on fire" by Metallica!
One of my absolute favourite Slipknot songs
React to Slipknot - Killpop and Left Behind
I’ve always loved how similar both parts are. It’s like a regular and negative of the same photo. Your looking at (listening to) the same thing but it’s polar opposites.
Finally! Been waiting for this shiettt!
Next: killpop - slipknot
J A H Z I think he did Killpop already
Atreyu1107 VG oh, you're right. Thx
