You can further boost the effect of the H2O2 if you put a flexible cone shaped nozzle into the syringe. I've made one of those flexible translucent 10ml pipettes. With the nozzle you can isolate the area the H2O2 is sprayed on. If you keep the nozzle with syringe/pipette in place for a while the dilution is minimal and efficiency is further increased.
Is in easier to do the 3 day dark?
can the hdrogen peroxide hurt the surrounding corals? I'd like to try this but dont want to kill anything.
Ryan at BRS dips some corals in hydrogen peroxide. Probably safe..
Depends on the coral. Zoas and softies are fine. I would be a little more cautious around something like a smooth skin deep water Acro
There's a lot of discussion I've ready about nitrates levels for LPS tanks. I've seen ranges including 10-15ppm and even 1-5ppm. What are your thoughts the appropriate nitrate range (if I'm already keeping my phosphates between .08-.1)?
Hydrogen peroxide works very well. I had a rock that was heavy with bubble algae. I was able to remove rock. Spraying rock with peroxide killed all bubble algae. I never thought about using like this. Reading an above comment makes me wonder. Maybe a hanna alk syrindge with tip is something i should try.
That’s what i was using as I have a few kicking around
Battling turf algae in my nano as well. Ill have to get hydrogen peroxide a try ive been mainly doing manual removal only
