Richard Ross has a great talk on this subject. 0.12 phosphates is not the reason, I''ve been well over 0.4 with no algae. A lack of herbivores is what gets you here most often.
a lot of people misconceive algae is due to an imbalance in water quality. sadly, that’s not true. algae exists in all forms wherever there’s water & light. water flow isn’t a cause. look at the algae in rivers and lakes.
Hey man im getting green algae on the skeleton of my corals and it is killing my acans please what can i do ? I just bought an aquamaxx 1.5 hob skimmer
When I do a big cleaning like this, I just siphon the water into the filter sock with the return pump running.
Should you also use a brush to scrub the rock?

Thank you. Is this the talk from Aquashella? I am checking that out now. And I agree I have had a lack of clean up crew.
@@TheCoralReefTalk I think I saw the High Tide Aquatics talk, but he’s given it several times (macna, aquashella). I’ve never battled GHA since ✊🏻

Do we need to wear gloves for this process?
You don't necessarily need to have gloves to pull out the algae.
