Probably my favorite trend in reefing, I hope this one sticks around past just being a renewed trend. I personally have Tetraselmis & Tisochrysis in my home culture set-up, and I love the three primary strains they've chosen to sell to hobbyist's. With so many phyto strains in existence, a difficult supply chain to maneuver, and a large body of mixed anecdotal commentary by hobbyist's to sift through: figuring out if/what phyto to grow and dose can be an uphill slog. Mr. Pleskun has done the leg work for us. Tetraselmis, Tisochrysis, & Rhodomonas are far from exhaustive. But, they are three extremely useful and complementary strains common to commercial applications like pod & bivalve operations, and they continually show up in discussion in home culture (which has a very limited scale & labor pool). Most of us only have the motivation to culture one or two of these long-term as a hobby, so cherry picking these three should go along way. I will say, if you want to keep it at home. It becomes almost a second facet of reefing, with it's own minor work flow. And there's a certain satisfaction that comes from seeing my multicolored jars bubbling away on my indoor plant shelf intermixed with a host of understory tropical hose plants. Then when you feed the coral, you know what's in the bottle. And that confidences comes from transparence on the part of vendors like TSA. I case you missed it, I'm a fan of what they're doing. :) Plus, when I inevitably screw up and loose a culture. TSA has the strains I want to restock.
I’m cracking up at how intellectual and eloquently this man speaks about aptasia then at 10:43 I see Remy about to lose it and made me laugh even more lol. Very well made video.
You could culture at home but it's got some work associated with it. Definitely cheaper and more consistent when you can culture yourself but it's always available if you need to purchase as well! When you culture rotifers you have to harvest daily - I'd always just feed my tanks with them. There's nothing like live feed! ~Remy
We already know phyto does not do anything special that you couldn't do with almost any other food. Name me 1 coral grower who has shown better results than others just because he uses phyto.
Actually you should look at the studies fr scientists done on reef feeders and compare it to phyto your opinion will definitely be swayed just look it up
Give another couple watches...it'll settle in. At its core, coral can and will benefit more from live feeds like phyto and rotifers. It's a lot but it makes sense! ~Remy
Maybe start by reading some books by classic British writers, and less of the TikTok videos. The words will soon start to make sense. I'm happy listening to someone who appreciates the nuances of a spoken language
Get you someone that looks at you the way Taras looks at phytoplankton
TRUTH!! ~Remy
We are very proud of what Taras has done here for us, and continues to do for our hobby! Amazing video as always Remy, keep up the amazing work!

@@ReefBuildersVideo don’t live far from TSA. Got my Innovative Marine tank and Apex from them. Will check this out next time.
You telling me this guy isn’t Karl from workaholics?
I more worried about the Electrical Hazards then the Phytoplankton...
Why is he wearing a lab coat
Why not!? If I could get away with wearing a lab coat everyday I would too! ~Remy
Lifelong passion,…he’s like 30.
So, still true? lol ~Remy

This was just word vomit. Sad because it would have been a great video if it was broken down more clearly
