On hard mode, this boss gave me fits. Almost rage quit three times.
That's how hard mode was for me. Boss fights that I thought I would just cruise through, ended up becoming a major road block instead. Takes you by surprise and brings on the rage.
They really catch you off guard with the matchup knowledge going in blind or first time hard mode! Happy that I was able to showcase an easier method and overall crush that fight
The VLM (very lazy method) on hard mode is an aero spell now and then to bring him back to the ground and keep on circling around the container with Aerith. Takes ages but easy and safe for people like me xD
I know the feeling! I had to skip Chapter 9 bc the damn house made me rage quit so much. Figure I’ll go back to it after I beat the other chapters. Made it to 12 so far

A little exploit for people who run low with MP before a big boss fight. There’s an exploit in the game where if u find a box crate with a mako shard in it anywhere in the chapter, u can break it and save the game immediately after. Load that same file and the crate will keep respawning and you can max your MP out. I know there’s materia that conserves and gives back MP, but this is for people who don’t have those materia maxed out. Hope this helps u out on your hard mode runs.👌🏾

Awesome & flexible strategy, as always I managed to screw something up (took damage, casted slow a bit 2late), and still won the fight easily, so there's room for error here. Fury Ring on Tifa is so awesome I basically use it all the time now :)

Even though I didn't have much of a hard fight with Eligor (I am in Normal, so of course it is nothing compared to Hard Difficulty...), I still can't do as much damage in such a short time... I don't have as much materia /and not as maxed out as you are, this is due to end game bonus of keeping materia/levels from end game?)
Anyways, this is a way late reply to your vid (ppl are playing Rebirth now, I am just catching up on Remake storyline before I proceed with Rebirth...)

Was stuck on this boss probably the longest. Had no idea what to do when he flew around throwing javelins, really wish I knew the blizzaga stagger tip back then! Btw he is susceptible to poison, it was very helpful!!!

This game is enjoyable once you know the right set up.
Instead of Fury Ring I found it was much easier for me if I equipped the headband to each character, so that they don't fall asleep.
The asleep was the reason I was killed several times. So, that headband was a great help.
I’ve been having fun with Solo character No Damage Hard mode runs to give some variety to the fights we see on RUclips. For this fight I did solo Tifa and it was a blast

After a bunch of attempts and adjusting I was able to defeat him pretty easily, is worth mentioning I wasn't even close to this strategy. It was pretty fun to watch
Ice is the staggering best friend it would seem!
A huge part of this is using MP Regen weapons like Mythril Saber and Silver Staff, since you need MP for Ghoul as well. If you can get some back in between fights it’s very helpful. Also it reduces the cost of some spells. All for hard mode obviously.
Well the Ghoul fight actually comes before this fight and there are plenty of boxes in between to keep you up. But check my ghoul boss guide I just uploaded as well. I save crazy amounts of MP and defeat it in almost record time!

I screwed up the tactics on my first try and then beat him on my second try. Even though i can't manage to stagger him in the last phase and i think because the Stop spell and Blizzaga explode at the same time or after a bit second, and made his Stagger meter didn't filled up at all, but i still managed to defeat him though cause his HP only last short. Thanks very much!

Couple suggestions I might make. I saw this video after beating Eligor on my own, if I'd had trouble with it, I doubtless would have looked this up. But, Elemental Materia linked to Ice Materia on Cloud and Tifa. Make their melee do even more damage. Also, when he's Staggered, after casting Stop, a good Ray of Judgement from Aerith. It's the only other attack besides Tifa's Triangle Attacks that increases Stagger damage.
Thanks dude! I opt to keep aerith with ATB maxed if I can just incase so I normally don't utilize Ray of judgment because tifa goes ham with the stagger already and usually he switched phases before we can get it rolling. Great advice tho thank you!

Your videos helped me to understand the game better, particularly the one for the Hell House. After that, and a detour to grind out all of my Materia to max level, it was like Hard Mode finally clicked into place for me, and I breezed through chapters 10-13. Currently working on 14, and was amazed just this evening at how easily I handled the Tonberry. Your videos got me to this point. Thank you.

I did this last night, I actually found it to be ok. I cast regen just before the reflect and I think that helped. I somehow breezed through this one but got annihilated in the climb up the pillar and reno & rude
They need a regroup ability or action or a party call materia anything to make your team group up

I realized I missed stealing the Bladed Staff the first time and failed to return to this chapter for it after clearing the game. So now I’d have to squeeze that steal in this Hard mode fight 🥺🥺🥺

Man I should have paid more attention to this guide. But I ended up having a limit break and he was about to do the gaze attack and I just lucked out and hit him with a limit break since I only had like 100 hp left.
One year later I still can't beat this boss it's killing me. Using pray keeps me alive till about 40% eligor health. So big thanks for the tip and utilizing this materia.

I got it on my second try thanks to this guide bc my stupid ass forgot undead things get hurt more when you heal them. And plus i wasnt expecting healing spells from the to strongest magic casters to do that much to ghoul lmao i just realized im not on the ghoul video but my point still stands tho i really wasnt expecting the healing spells to hit that hard for him and also i havent maxed out all my materia and theres some i just have 1 of like refocus and atb stagger and only a few hp ups vs the absolute monstrosity that is the mp ups but those are both dwarfed by my healing materia collection. Sadly only about 2 or 3 magic ups

Damn pain in the ass in hard mode! I like the way Tifa gives him an extra butt kicking at the end... He deserved it!
I beat him in the first try on hard mode, but I did not expect the reflect, I was not equipped with chakra, so I needed to let the characters die to use arise. Also, the wheels from the boss bounced the attacks, it took me some time get used to. It was a tough fight, with lots of moments of almost defeat
Every FF game that has come out since FF12 I’ve hoped they’d revisit the gambit system and FFXs character switching system. Feels like it’s the appropriate time for FF7R part 2.
I hope that will be the case for remake part 2 as well. It would suck to see the immersion destroyed because of limited party space. Id love to be able to switch characters on the fly man that would be so cool
BltzZ yeah I also hope they make the characters even more specialized in different roles than they are in this game, specially against flying enemies. Let us see Yuffie and Vincent do their flippedy dippedy shit from Advent children. Also Cid is a Dragoon he better be able to jump on the flying enemies (and not miss).
I think gambit system is overkill. If you have a gambit system, you don’t have to switch your characters or be proficient with all your characters. We should be playing the game, not letting the game play itself.
I knew Blizagga will do insane damage and I had it only on Aerith, I had trouble with mp because I exhausted it on Ghoul battle and Aerith had like 20 mp and I thought it will heal me fully before battle as it starts in new chapter. If anyone else is having problem, have Aerith (First strike) and run around destroying crates and soul drain, Save and quit repeat 2-3 times to have enough mp to cast Blizzaga 3-4 times. I forgot to equip Blizzaga on Cloud and he had wind materia, still destroyed the boss with your strategy. Thanks

I got my first game over from Eligor. I guess I was just really unprepared for him since its was a boss battle so soon after Ghoul
Those are tough so I wouldn't consider that a gameover haha. It's just so much too soon to worry about I wasn't expecting it either. Like how in chapter 17 it has 3 bosses back to back lol
Also i finally beat hell house after trying for a week and a half. And the half a week was trying how you said
A whole ass 4 days doin what you said and the time before i beat it i got it to about |■□□□□□□□□□| and then sweeper and cutter came in the fight on some WWE BS and i almost beat them until aerith went down and cloud had like 5 or 6 mp and was about to revive aerith and hell house did house call and cutter knocked me into it.
Is it possible to remove Reflect from your party members? I couldn't find a single button to do it when Dispel or Breach were selected. Same thing for Curaga but in the opposite way, can you cast it on enemies when they have reflect on?
I guess breach but idk never tried it I just timed and waited it out

Yessir! I usually always use it in the beginning so by the middle of fights we always gain back limit break.. Gotterdammerung also refills limit break overtime much quicker too

Personally, I just make Aerith and Cloud spam Blizzaga and I equip Tifa with the Elemental and Ice combination. Basically made circles around him. XD
