While It's impressive this is no where near tales combos at all. Tales is way more complex with the more skill usage needed and normal attacks.

It's way too good. I'm still shocked Square made a battle system this good. Years upon years, they finally evolved their battle system into one that as a fan I can be proud of.
A lot of JRPG that are stuck with a deprecated real-time turn-based combat would benefit A LOT from a system like this.

Wow very helpful video! One thing about Starshower buffing mechanic. The next ability must be casted while Tifa is still posed, fist on the ground at the end of SS and you will get a red aura. It's a forgiving window but as soon as she gets up, it's gone

Personally I'd not bother Putting Unbrittled Strength on the Quick bar For Tifa, you can Get it to go off just by Mashing X as it's ALWAYS the top ability in her menu. I'd also Keep those Charges up at All times, Storing them LONG before you Need them to Build stagger % as Just Keeping them up will Increase Tifa's Baseline Damage output passively. Then put in "True Strike" in it's place, as that move Increses Stagger Damage % Way Faster than her Triangle Attacks. As for his Uppercut + Divekick Combo, you can do that with the uppercut from Holding Square, not just the No-Chi Triangle attack. Divekick is also Tifa's Hardest Hitting Single attack, so it's worth Keeping for that alone (Though I usually don't Since I Kinda Prefer to Focus on staggering and once Staggered Boosting Stagger Multiplyer, which Divekick doesn't do. Personally I Keep chakra Slotted there Just in case). When you manage to stagger an Opponent, You should Hit it with Every True Strike you have Right away, Empty your ATB on that, then once you're out of ATB Mash Triangle to get in those first two Chi attacks you Charged up at the start of the fight(Rise and fall and then Omnistrike, don't Let her Do the Uppercut, it only gives 5% Stagger Damage and Minimal damage), by then you should have Charged up an other ATB (more if you've Refocused) so You can hit em with an other True Strike, at this point the Enemy's Stagger Multiplyer should be Damn Near 300%, but you don't have to stop there, and everyone in your Party are Doing that extra Damage, if you choose which move to do by everyone as Often as you can, the damage Stacks up REALLY fast and not many enemies can get up afterwards, even Summon Fights (The fat Chocobo is particularly Vulnerable to this since he stays Staggered way longer than anything else, you can take em out in ONE stagger even before you've done anything else in Hard mode outside of Simulator fights, yes I tested it in the summon chain Battle against him, it was Hilarious)
Starshower and Focus strike are both Perfect for all the reasons he said, though I'd Slot them in different places in the quickbar, I'd put Focus strike, the one you'll be using the most, in the Square Slot, since you're already gonna be Mashing that button to attack, you're more likely to hit that button by Mistake while Trying to chain in abilities into Normal attacks, OR put it into the circle Slot simply because the game's Already conditioned us to think "Circle = Dodge" and that's what Focus Strike does, All the other Moves are Kinda Arbitrairy as to where you wanna put them, but those two slots Kinda deserve special mention
As for actual build notes, on the First one he should Dump one HP+ and the Luck+, Though the Extra survivability and Crit rates are nice, those things only really work if you intend to do things with ONLY Tifa, and apart from that ONE Simulator fight, She's not alone. You're Better off Giving her ATB Assist, so that every time you pop 2 ATB Costing abilities in a row, you will give ONE full ATB Bar to BOTH your other Party memembers (at Which point get used to using L2 and R2 Because they Will have Full bars REALLY Often), Then replace the other with Skill Mastery Materia, it's a Materia that doesn't really do anything except in Very Specific Situations, but with this Build, those situations will happen QUITE Often. For all intents and Purposes what it does is that IF you can get ATB Stagger to go off with an Ability, and then Hit the Enemy with 2 more Abilities in a row, it will charge you up one by almost one more ATB Gauge to do an other Extra Attack and Keep the ball going. But if you're Using Refocus, then You Already have the 3 ATB you'd Need to activate ATB Mastery right there, so now you Effectively have INFINITE ATB to do whatever the hell you want, and every time you pop a skill, you give an ATB Bar to both your Other party Members, Which means they're pretty Much Permanently Full as well, all of a sudden expensive to Use in Hard mode Materia like prayer are WAY more effective than Cure, and you can have Cloud spam Focused Thrust to build up stagger like nothing else. and if you REALLY wanna Keep that Luck up, Just replace the time Materia, give it to Aerith, She'll have Damn Near Infinite MP if you have her spam Soul Drain anyway

I freakin' love Tifa's speed and strength man. Her abilities are freakin dope AF and doing things with her just screams Smokin' Sick Style. I overall just really adore her ability to chain everything within her kit.

Anyone else super appreciative that they kept the core mechanics of the Materia system? It was always a system I thought, "this is perfect the way it is."
You should be mentioning true strike for increased stagger percentage. It increases more than your triangle chi abilities (rise and fall/omnistrike/uppercut). So order should be use your atb charges for true strike as they will still be buffed by unbridled strength and then use your chi abilities. Suggestions for pressuring enemies and dodging is awesome though.

Absolutely this! Right when I stagger an enemy, I immediately build up 2 ATB charges (I'm nearly always sitting in chi lvl 3 with Rise and Fall ready), then spam out True Strike x2 followed by your entire chi combo (Rise and Fall/Omnistrike/Uppercut).
Good point. I wonder why he doesn't plan ahead to be at chi+2 before the stagger and then just stop / True strike / Rise and fall / Omnistrike / Uppercut and then divekick as much as possible.

Having now played the game thru to Hard Mode and seen all the characters through everything, I gotta say “Tifa” does have the most unique BadAss combat system and style of play as well as DPS character. Everyone of her moves are just BadAss, including her Limit Break when it comes up and that Dolphin move is so BadAss that I get giddy when the Limit Break pops! Aerith have the most raw magical power and can pop numbers played as a Black Mage, but Tifa is just damn fun to play.
Aerith was definitely my favorite character in FF7R cause her abilities were diverse and useful and necessary on hard. But I wasn't playing Tifa like this, maybe if I had, she'd be my favorite instead and platinuming the game would have been much easier.

I preferred 2 Luck Ups with Purple Pain for massive critical hit rate boost and damage. I typically use ATB Assist and haste myself and an ally to trigger it. Also include Skill Master to use Unbridled Strength then trigger a massive ATB Boost (the third one with First Strike also on) when using the first attack move. With ATB Stagger also on, Tifa ATB is pretty much unlimited. She is a monster. True Strike Starshower True Strike Rise and Fall Omnistrike is like 40K damage on a staggered enemy
does this setup guarantee every hit is critical?
@@cloudstrife316 no, it doesn't but if she has 25% hp or less she will have crit nearly every hit with that setup. Crit builds aren't exactly minmaxed in this game unfortunately
I use a similar set up with Tifa Purple Pain with Two Luck ups etc but didn't think about using Skill Master, good call on that one. Cheers.
Yeah I don’t think Crit is 100%. Another tip tho is to pretty much never heal just Tina. Easier to get the damage bonus while she is alive and critical health then just revive her (with this build) if she dies. Especially since she has reprieve she won’t just insta die when low. I didn’t really look at fights in terms of how much HP an enemy had tho - this build especially is how fast can you stagger an enemy bc once staggered even fat chocoholic (chocobo) will die to Tifa. So wouldn’t worry about critical hits, just learning what to do to stagger an enemy ASAP
I'd also mention the pressure combo of being at chi lvl 3 and using Overpower followed by normal attacks. Being in chi lvl 3, your normal attacks after an Overpower do a special follow-up and ends with a ground slam that stuns quite a few enemies for a moment and keeps pressure on them, so much so that you can keep some enemies nearly infinitely stunlocked by repeating that one combo (Overpower>Square finisher>Overpower>Square finisher). All in all though, awesome video! Keep up the good work!

Gotterdammerung might be too op on Aerith, pop refocus right away, and then Planet Protector as soon as it comes up, now you're invincible against normal damage and you can pretty much keep it up the entire fight if you're using Aerith's abilities to build her limit gauge faster, and of course her healing is op so refocus makes her that more efficient at it. Made the Hell House fight so much easier the second go around on hard mode, and some bosses have no response to it at all, even Sephiroth on hm was struggling with that one. I put lighting-elemental on my armor and just swallowed all of his physical attacks, beat him first go on hard mode with a final focused strike from Tifa. I usually keep Gotterdammerung on Aerith and the transference module on Tifa, my two favorite characters to play in the game. They did such a great job on everyone's combat system's, but hard mode really makes you appreciate the depth of Aerith's and Tifa's systems. When they are together and are used correctly, they're damn near impossible to defeat, and can bring any boss down in no time.
I didn't consider using Gotter on Aerith, good call here! How is your group setup for this? What abilities are you using with Aerith to build her limit quick enough?
@@mcarr416ix usually ray of judgement or a double burst of magic using arcane ward, the more stagger you produce, the faster your limit gauge rises. I also keep steadfast block on her, so I can block more damage and gain more atb and limit when the mob is focused on her, and parry for unblockables. Her limits come pretty quickly as it stands, and with Gotterdammerung they come even quicker, so if the boss is dealing a combination of magic and physical damage she almost always has Planet Protector ready to go before the last one has worn off, and I just have to worry about the magical. I usually keep transference module on Tifa since she is using unbridaled strength constantly among other moves so she can build limit faster than Cloud, who I like to keep at least one atb bar on ready for interrupting spells and other skills that Planet Protector can't save you from.
You say you put elemental + lightning in your armor for Sephiroth's physical attacks? His physical attacks are lightning based?
@@Me-it7cu At a certain point he begins using elemental based weapon attacks, lightning being one of them, and the last aga spell he uses near the end of the fight is Thundaga. He clutch healed me a few times with it.
@@Me-it7cu But no, I meant I swallowed the physical attacks with Planet Protector, only the elemental damage got through, and I was interrupting any attempt to cast that wasn't Thundaga.

I’m only at the part of the story where you ha e to run stupid errands before saving Aerith from Shinra. Recently jumped back into this with Intergrade after taking a long break from chapter 3 and this game is incredibly underrated. Can’t wait until I get to this level with tifa, currently she’s the hardest for me to use

I use Tifa more than Cloud as long as the situation allows it. She's strong AF.
Same she was really fun to play plus she was pretty op in some if the fights I had. I remember not doing enough damage with cloud since I forgot to upgrade my sword so I switched to tifa and demolished all the enemies in the blink of an eye

There's another way to chain Focus Strike instead of dodge canceling into deadly dodge. Simply cancel a FS into a normal attack chain, then follow up with another FS. This will proc the ATB Assist materia as long as you used the second FS within a short window, giving your party 3/4 ATB bar for free. You can cancel FS any time with parry, but this will reset the ATB Assist count. This can be endlessly chained for Tifa when she has haste, essentially making her the ATB cow for the whole party while avoiding lots of damages via movements.
I personally am already in the habit of controlling Tifa during a lot of boss fights for ATB generation, and just pause to issue commands to the other party members.
I prefer to put refocus and gtdm on Aerith so that every ATB Assist fills one bar for her to case a spell
I also put Steadfast block on Tifa since I think (need confirmation) if reduces the damage you take during parry

I have my tifa set up with purple pain, the bonuses are very solid and I basically gave her all the base elements so that she can raise her atb fast and throw out small spells to pressure and stagger enemies faster with the weakest spells

When it comes to staggering I normally have my chi full and get my atb full. Start with two true strikes the hit triangle to spend the chi to finish with a star wtv move with a chi trap.

That build and video play is just so insanely good how Tifa plays in her ability that it just demolishes enemy’s as DPS. Still they may be some variations just slightly changing 1-2 Materia to this build as a play around build. That could include play around with Elemental Attack 3⭐️ (Lightning/Wind) + Elemental Materia, which makes every time Tifa strikes the enemy her fist 🤜 attacks are buffed even more with elemental power. Or say switch just 1 Materia to buff her attacks with Enemy Skill (Aura) which makes her do aoe damage every time she does damage on hits or just being in proximity to the enemy. Loading her with DPS can mean someone else buffs her for the Time-Haste/Slow to either buff Tifa and or Debuff the enemy to up Tifa DPS. But it is just insane how much more Fun and Crazy Tifa can be and compared to the other characters.

you should have tifas chi doubled stacked before staggering. then dump those then true strike after the atb builds back up or even more unbridled . youll have over 300+ stagger real quick. bosses usually die first stagger. specially if you add the stop.
Great build. The use of Time materia as well as Luck materia is something I didn't explore before, so that's a good addition. On that note, is there a good reason you're not using True Strike once the enemy is staggered?

Beat the game first time? You can run the game multiple times and not be disappointed. So much trophies to get, so little time hahahaha
Replay the game in Hard Mode and Japanese voices man. It's a whole new experience.
I'm playing on hard right now and this guide will jopefully help me, bc. on normal I was unable to play Tifa, I always got hit within 2 seconds after switching to her
Go play hard mode, you won't be disappointed with the boss battles. The battle system is designed in such a way that it gets really rewarding to learn the mechanics of the fight and your characters. Unfortunately, in normal mode you can pretty much mash attack to victory which is why some people might not like it.
For fun super long air juggles, reset a weak weapon and get all materia slots and concentration. I recommend Purple Pain since it has 70% activation chance.
Tifa's a combo machine in any action-oriented FF game
in my game tifa was the tank and high dps. She was too fun to not play anytime. It was like a fighting game character in an RPG.
I went back to the original FF7 for about an hour and I realized just how awesome this game's fighting system is.
t captures what I imagined the characters to actually fight like in real time. I just can't praise the developers enough, this is how you do a love letter to the fans!

Tifa may be hard to use, but if you do the right things, she's definitely the funniest and most satisfying one...God, the damage...
with a atb combo(idk if that is the name, the one that restores atb to your allies when using skills) materia tifa becomes a very good atb battery
Try using Force Braclet instead of Cog Bangle for Tifa and Aerith, the defense isn't that good compared to an extra materia slot that's also connected. (It depends how you play and if you're good at dodging / blocking).

feather nuckles are my fav for tifa. Better atb regen and she starts in chi level 2 75 percent of the time so u only need to cast unbridled strenght once to get her to max performance
Do you use the True Strike ability at all? And can you follow up a Starshower with another Starshower or would a Divekick make more sense?

Awesome game
For the Magic Build, use the Enemy Skill Algid Aura, which adds an ice attack to your melee. Also, I believe it converts your regular attack to a magic based attack, meaning it's power is tied to your magic stat. Link Enemy Skill to HP absorb to gain steady HP.
Chi Trap looks so great
WHat is the optimal usage of the 3 characters? Pick one like tifa and keep building that ATB fast, or swapping across the 3 maybe and keep the ATBs for the stagger window?
The gotterdamerung kills me. The item that will help you defeat the end game bosses is only obtained after defeating said bosses.... yup. It's a final fantasy game.
Believe it or not the current meta is now to try and get the gotterdsmerung before even trying to complete the game on hard mode.
This is because for these challenges you always have three characters of your choosing, you always start the fight with full resources, and you get 50% hp and mp back between every fight.
Whereas in story mode there are many parts where you only control a predetermined two person team or even just Cloud and you never recover mp except from finishing a chapter.
That's clever. But even after 90 hours of playtime i still can't beat these guys (probably says more about me than anything). Had no problems getting through hard mode.
@@fo1k1ore You can try beating the summons one at a time in the vr hard mode to familiarize their moves. Its easy once you know how to cope with their attacks

@@fo1k1ore Elemental + Fire in the armor slot should let you ignore Ifrit and get free heals. For Pride and Joy, his lava will also heal you.

FFVII remake is Tifa Hack and Slash with some RPG side game attached to it for some reason
dang tifa is OP af, the OG game, tifa can deal damage upto 9999 on a speedrun by just equipping it with right stuff and some materia and also luck (which damage a lot, if not you get around 4-5k damage).

Wow, i guess i just suck at playing with Tifa. While i like her Charakter the most i prefered the others in battle. Tifa kept taking too much damage when i controlled her on hard Mode. With barret or cloud it seemed easier for me.
But seeing what is possible with her is just awesome.

True Strike dog. On enemy stagger, after Gotterdamerung refocus, True Strike > Rise and Fall > Omnistrike > Starshower > Overpower

But, it doesn't look look stop worked at stopping your enemies' stagger gauge at all in the video. You can see that after casting, both Fat Chocobo and Bahamut's stagger gauges continue to drop at the same rate. Perhaps it works on normal enemies, not bosses?

That would be fun, but i guess the aggro system in the game would not work for this online mode thing, since "the player" always get attacked and in online everyone are player :/
Did you mean steadfast block instead of ATB stagger? As far as I understand ATB stagger won't prevent damage nor would it increase the ATB bar when enemy is not staggered.

Weird that you showed stop on staggered Fat Chocobo, since he's immune to stop.
As he explained in the video, it still stops the Stagger meter, which is why he used it then.
@@salidarx If it actually worked, the boss would've frozen completely and you would have seen a small time status affect underneath its stagger bar, but since fat chocobo is immune to stop, its stagger bar was unaffected.
@@NeloAngelo51 If you watched the video closely you will see the stagger bar stopped moving for at least 3 to 4 seconds

I just use metal knuckles, overpower and starshower. True strike if they're staggered.

Focused strike was designed to only be used when an enemy is in the pressured state to help to build stagger. Overpower works for getting them in the pressured state
You can use focused strike as a movement tool because it's basically free on hit. This is what separates it from its general usage. Tifa doesn't have a counter so focused strike somewhat fills that roll
