A super underrated combo for barret is the magnify materia and barrier materia with the enchanted ring. Barret can buff the entire team with manawall/barrier and the enchanted ring makes the effect last longer essentially nullifying the negative effects of the magnify materia.
Dylan Goodboy does the enchanted ring make the buff last longer on the wearer or does it make the buff cast by the wearer last longer?
Oh snap, I was just experimenting again with the accessories, I'll have to try this.

The only downside to Barrets melee weapon builds are flying enemies, he can't shoot them down unless he charges a special ability up or a wind spell is cast.

THE Hard Mode Endgame Barrett Build IMO: Big Bertha + Cog Bangle + Healing Carcanet/Gotterdammerug. Barrier linked to Magnify. Healing, HP Up, MP Up, Refocus, First Strike, Steadfast Block, Prayer.
I already Platinum the game but it’s so cool to see these videos. Never thought about using the melee weapons for Barret like that. Kinda hoping they release some VR training DLC or something since the combat is so fun.

For Barrett melee build. I found the Parry Materia to be very usual in cancelling inputs by his shoulder charge animation. That plus a roll gives Barrett great mobility around enemies.

I KNEW there was the potential for a Charging Uppercut / Overrun vortex! I didn't see anyone use it yet!
Haven’t tried it yet but maybe refocus limit on healer barret could be fun to spam even more buffs and even sneak some attacks in, esp w/ spectral cogwheel to get more limit from all of the barrier casting

Melee Barret's animations are so hefty. He looks like he's smashing straight through enemies.
I enjoy these videos and each character is great is there anyway you can put in recommendation of party builds? With the limited materia finding out what build for each character can be difficult for me. Especially since there isn’t a list what each of these builds have so I can compare and contrast then combine builds.
a decent build combo if you want sustainability is:
Cloud: hardedge or buster sword. magic materia + elemental on weapon, 2Xhp up, prayer, steadfast block, deadly dodge, healing, revival and first strike.
with this you get great damage potential with him, if you're controlling him then you get A LOT of ATB so sustaining health with prayer is easy. but got cure for a big heal and revive for emergencies.
if you get the accessory from the final VR mission, then put it on Cloud and refocus materia in place of deadly dodge. refocus is AMAZING for boss fights and as far as i can tell doesnt wear off until CLoud dies in the fight so thats cool. if you font have that accessory then the one that reduces damage when ot being controlled.
Tifa: steadfast block, chakra, healing, revive, time and the element materias that Cloud aint using in his weapon.
i dont control Tifa much but this is a great set up for an all rounder. healing revive for obvious reasons, the element materia's for what you need, time for bosses helps a lot.
personally i like purple rain for her weapon, great stats, decent bonuses. has reprieve jsut in case. it's nice. accessory is the same as Clouds.
Barret: barrier-magnify, healing, prayer, steadfast, first strike, 1xhp up, 1xmp up, whatever else you wanna put on him for the last two slots.
he's the tank healer obviously. big bertha for his weapon, healing coronet for his accessory. but can swap this for any status bullshit thats hurting you. like sleep or stun. i hate those.
Aerith: same as Barret but with magic up and whatever element is best for what you need in the last two slots.
healer and magic nuke for when it's needed. i use her silver staff cause it's a solid weapon, and same Accessory as Barret, as you usually wouldnt have these two in the same party.
now this isnt the best build, but it covers your bases and is designed you keep you alive as much as possible with as little thinking as possible between the prayers for no mp use and cures for the emergency big heals.
there are defo more streamlined builds, but this requires less micro management of gear and ability uses throught he game. case in point: i'm currently at chapter 14 of my hard mode playthrough and this is the build i'm using, and i suck at this game. only time i've almost died is when the enemy AI has decided to go ultra instinct and instantly stop my healers from healing even though the enemy was on the other side of the arena and targetting a different character.... god i fecking hate that shit in this game.
Personally I played Barret as the team cleric, but after watching this video and playing the game again, melee Barret is fun as hell.
Top Barrett build: “build around cloud.”
I only see people making melee or support builds for Barrett, but he's OP as a damage dealer if you Haste him. His Focus Shot greatly raises Stagger, especially if you use it with two ATB charges and if you aim at enemy weak points. Maximum Fury is great for wiping out groups of enemies, as he'll automatically switch to the next enemy once he's killed the first, but it's also great for just spamming a single enemy with a lot of damage. Point Blank is amazing for damage and stagger, and idk why he didn't include it on the Melee build. His other moves (Smackdown, Uppercut, etc.) do high damage, too, but if you've got Haste and ATB Assist on Tifa helping build your gage, and if you consciously Charge whenever you reload and make use of your Overcharge, you can pretty much have a constant flow of ATB and do nonstop Focus Shots and Maximum Fury and just wreck house.

9:35 maybe don't say trade-off will give you a ton of MP when you take damage. You literally only got 3 MP when you took over 7K damage.
sometimes in hard mode and your desperate for mp, 3 mp is good enough. especially if you heal away that damage with two chakras.
@@idleeidolon I'm pretty sure there isn't a single spell that can be cast for 3 MP unless you have certain accessories or weapon upgrades, but either way, his comment is inaccurate.

Totally agreed. I am most looking forward to him. I may enjoy him more than Cloud or even Tifa. I think they could make a badass Ninja style out of Yuffie too
@@Phillip-DeFreitas I wonder if the transformations will be only limits, or if they will have them be like stances that you can morph to on the fly? I really hope they take their time getting his combat just right. And yes yuffie as a quick ninja with some mid range ability will be cool.
I can imagine cid as a true lagoon with high mid range damage and somewhat fast close range damage prolly won’t be high on mp
Vincent is THE character im waiting for the most. I loved him in the original and i cant WAIT to see what hes gonna be in the updated !! I wonder if theyre gonna change the story in a dramatic way (like even having aerith living somehow) and if he will take a backseat to the magic role and have a more offensive long range threat instead of a support longrange like barret since aerith wont be gone from your party.

Hey @Khraze, really love your "build" video's. Quick question: can you acquire more than one First Strike materia by replaying levels? Just beat the game on normal, and want to try these builds out, but I would really like every team member having some ATB at the start of a fight.
There’s only 2 first strikes in the game but you can equip the third member with whistlewind scarf
I like to make him a tank DPS,usually grabbing agro and shooting elemental bullets while charging down enemies when they are close
Been trying to beat that hard mode Shinra sim with Cloud, Tifa, Aerith party and Shiva and Leviathan is a bitch, can't get past Leviathan. Gonna use Barrett tank and support build now so I can get to Pride and Joy and beat it lol.
Dunno if you beat the sim or not but a party with Cloud/Tifa, Aerith and Barret is very good. Mainly control Barret so that the enemy focusses on him, and have Steadfast Block to improve ATB gain. Give Barret Time materia so he can cast haste. Whenever you can, cast Aerith's Ray of Judgement as it does great damage and can put the enemies, inc. Benhamut, in a Pressure State for great Stagger increase
Have you tried a crit build with Barret’s EKG and both Luck materias? I’m in the process of leveling mine fully before running the summon gauntlet again. The EKG could potentially have more damage output than Bertha with some high magic damage to top it all off.
Planning on doing one. The big Bertha was there for the tankiness and healing against Pride and Joy. Barret still has room for a range spell and range attack builds.
KhrazeGaming after some experimenting with the luck materia, Big Bertha and EKG, the Bertha is still the winner in my opinion. Higher damage output with the luck adding to my critical chance. Slap the fury ring on for a bit more damage. Barret is so versatile and my favorite character to experiment with.
The only downside to magnify on barret is that it counters Aerith's endgame build which also has magnify

I ran a similar tank/support build with Barret, but I only used chakra with HP was in the red zone, to get the effect of his passive +50% healing when hp critical. Magnify+Manawall also just before bahamut fires off his ultimate, lifesaver up all the time. Prayer to recover from AOE damage, no healing materia needed. Steadfast block is a must, MP up never used, it's a wasted slot. Put a luck up for some extra crits.
I’m so dumb. Bc he was elementless I’ve been using only barrier for that fight. My thought process was “no element??? Physical damage then” I just made that fight 5x harder than it should’ve been. But hey I did it lol
@@jerin-domingoalcozar3156 yeah magic damage can be non elemental, thus you use Manawall ideally. Costs a lot but you should have enough MP for the whole Pride and Joy chain fights.
Matteo Mosca yeaaaah, I just used all my mp and atb to heal with no barrier. And then used Barrett to revive when my team wiped. The only reason I beat it was bc of the limit breaks of barrett and cloud before the 3rd mega flare. If only I wasn’t stupid and remembered that it was still magic regardless of element .-.
If you hit him hard enough during his countdowns, you can pressure Bahamut. I was able to take him out before he got megaflare off. Once I staggered him I took him out with triple limit breaks. If you keep up with recovery you really don’t need manawall

@rob13589 for me the whole gsme on hard was easier then that boss gauntlet in vr
@rob13589 hell house was easy for me. Just used the correst magic every time i could and he dealt no dmg. I hated sephiroth fight and his skill that was going throug counterstance and the one that was droping whole team to 1hp
I've tried this build and it was really effective. I am now essentially invincible in hard mode.

Yeah. Tanky boi madlad it is. Shook you recommended a melee build on Barret but I did notice how good it was but man, it's too slow. I'll def rework my tank Barret though. Had everything but Barrier on him. Idk why I didn't even think of it.

You always recommend the first strike materia in almost all your build.
However, in a longer fight like against bosses, I found it just a waste of materia slot that otherwise can be filled with other useful materia.

How can i see the duration of steelskin? No buff icon
Whenever you activate a buff, it appears in the bottom right window that displays he name. The icon should appear right under the first ATB gauge.

@@kratosgow342 i played melle barret in one of his solo arena battles and it was a walk in the park but in normal game he was my go to pray/heal support so i needed his triangle range attack to fil up atb so i never used him in melle later. Still hes dmg is amazing but overall he is less usefull
