I really freakin love Aerith's attack and spell casting animations... its like this is how mages really fight.

I don't think that is necessary, we don't yet know what will happen, and even in the original after that certain point it wasn't necessary to take her gear off, because every materia and accessory she had equipped is automatically placed in your inventory.
For me a big part of using Aerith effectively is learning to use Tempest punctually when enemies are stunned, pressured, & staggered. Fleeting Familiar is also really underrated, you only need to cast it once per battle so do it if you have the chance! It's really good on long boss fights. It boosts her DPS and I've heard the Familiar also boost her ATB gain.
Clarity Pendant + Refocus & Stop combined with ATB Assist & Soul Drain is a godsend on Aerith, especially on Hard Mode. It feels amazing to watch pull of 5 Soul Drains on a stopped & staggered enemy and get all of her MP back while filling her teammates ATB. I also notice Fleeting Familiar hitting multiple times when each Soul Drain is cast & she gains some ATB back.
Her Arcane Ward allows her to cast Offensive Magic twice with the 2nd spell cost reduced making her both a powerful & efficient nuker.
Alvin Rinaldo took me awhile to figure out a charged Tempest has a delay so if you use it with full ATB then expend the ATB it should fire off and give you a third ATB immediately.
Tempest is so good. Especially once you get stronger weapons, you can wreck so many enemies with that full charge
@@ubergamer2010 tempest is unlikely to hit multiple enemies unless they are all pressured or staggered and cramped in one place. Its powerful but only situational

Give her a fury ring, link an elemental materia to Magnify, then link another elemental materia of the same type to MP Absorb. Watch as she spams high damage spells for the entire chapter with no MP issues *at all*. Works for the other characters too, but Aerith does it best.

hmm this is not working for me? Does it matter where you link the materia whether its on an accessory or weapon.
Tip: if you want to have essentially 5 combat shortcuts, you can simply spam X mid combat to select the first command then map out any others in the regular slots.
Example: Aerith and soul absorb is the first ability in the list, so just hit X twice and select your targets to soul absorb. That way your not wasting a precious shortcut alot
I also do the same for Tifa and her unbridled strength buff that is needed most fights. Just mash X at the start of the fight (if you have First strike mareria). Then you can use the other 4 shortcut slots for other combos, etc

Funnily enough, I run a similar build to this. Though I have Tifa with Magnify=Haste with Aerith on Prayer instead of running Heal=Magnify. It's pretty free since Tifa can just jump out of danger most of the time and Aerith can just subpassively get her ATB up with her normal attacks and haste.

Fleeting familiar is another cool ability as well. While casting magic and abilities, the familiar attacks adding pressure and damage. It’s pretty neat

I use ATB boost instead of First Strike, you still can gain 1 bar of ATB similar as first strike. But when my entire team is almost wipe out, and no ATB at the moment, I can boost 1 ATB and save somebody 1st.

Yeah it’s just that first strike makes you pressure enemies at the start so it’s more for the offensive play style

My Aerith setup for hm boss fights is a little different, not too much, I go in with gotterdammerung on her for a quick refocus, parry and steadfast block on her because she's not as quick as Tifa but you can still scoot around decently, keep prayer on to focus her mp on dmg, pop refocus at the start of the battle, and with first strike I can immediately go into arcane ward and nuking if I want while building a quick limit to use planet protector, which also nullifies all stagger effects from physical attacks and the animation also makes you immune though there are certain enemies where it does make more sense to switch back to healing wind, and then I like to get right up in the enemie's face and drop that sorcerous storm or fire a soul drain if I'm low on mana. You can usually keep enough mana on her with well-timed use of soul drains and if she has a max mpplus materia, so I forgo mp absorb for elemental materia and the appropriate magic materia on the armor if I know that I'm fighting a particular element or if the boss is likely to use that element often, which can turn some fights into cakewalks, though if it is something like Bahamut or Pride and Joy and I might go in with magnify-barrier because she can keep wall up continuously, though magnify-time is also great for group hastes and stops. Refocus lets you pop off a lot more prayers and rays as well, breaches if you're fighting something that casts reflect or some other beneficial status. I like two magic ups for high dmg and heals if I'm not using bladed staff, two luck ups with bladed though I usually prefer the crit setup on Tifa, but definitely keep a max revive materia on her on hm to prevent wipes, and at least one max hpplus to make her less squishy. I usually but not always leave heal materia off of her entirely and keep it on Cloud and Tifa for emergencies, though it is smart to have a max revive on everyone in hardmode unless you are supremely confident you can keep the one with it alive. I usually prefer the silver staff for the lower mp costs and higher mp regeneration, but depending on the fight I might go with guard stick for the added survivability. You still get the reduction to healing spells, elemental defense boost, and 10% reduction to physical and magic dmg while blocking, while arcane ward will keep you efficient with the damage spell mp usage. Arcane scepter is also good for it's elemental boosts and reduction in attack spell costs, it is nice if you're fighting something you want a elemental-magic attack combo on a ranged character. I'm rarely pressured in a boss fight after getting off her first refocus and pp, I can take my time and take the fight how I like it, get off a fleeting familiar early, then proceed to heal or nuke as needed. I only use arcane ward and spells on bosses, sorcerous storm is more than enough to clear most trash mobs, just parry-dash in and drop the lighting on them, then parry-dash out, and of course if they're stupid enough to come after you...kaboom! If I have room, I like to have an atb stagger so I can pop a quick ray to boost stagger before switching to Tifa for true strike and unleashing her triangle attacks if there is enough time, then back to Aerith while using Cloud to interrupt and intercept. Sure, I could keep gotterdammerung on Cloud for quicker ascensions, but I like playing Aerith and stretching some of these boss fights out a bit, I only wish her square and triangle attacks felt better though timing a good max tempest is fun, but her weapon skills are pretty great over all. Sure, if they gave her a teleport, it would be game over, as it stands, being able to nullify all physical damage and staggering effects pretty much indefinitely in a fight while popping off massive nukes and heals is already pretty op in most of the boss fights in the game, and made fights against hm Hell House and Sephiroth where a lot of magic is used a lot more manageable.
This is the only game i enjoy replaying especially the combat simulator.

i know they did an excellent job on the game and i an waiting for rebirth to come out next year. they did an rely good job on the customization as you can build your character any way you want too. i like the fact that the first part is Medgar only as i always wanted more of Medgar if they ever did a remake/reimagining of the game.
What I do for her battle settings is only bind things that don’t require you to select something from a menu. So for example I wouldn’t bind arcane ward since you need to choose who to cast it on regardless and that will take you into a menu defeating the purpose of having it on a quick command. I do soul drain, fleeting familiar, ray of judgement, and sorcerous storm. Arcane ward, lustrous shield and ATB ward I cast manually every time.
Shield became my best friend in so damn many situations. Love this skill personally. But i agree with your thinking. Since it puts you in command anyway you actually don't need those on shorts.
Notice how Aerith's eyes are lit up CRAZY green in this version, a lot moreso than even Soldier's who had been showered with Mako. That should tell you something about her connection with the Lifestream/Mako in general...
She has closed Eyes in intro cinematic unlike original. And when open, they are green. Detail surely not random. Theory is that she knows key part of original story from this moment in Remake.

I do the same, barret with lifesaver on, regen and chakra materia, just tanks the whole teams damage and let's me Focus on killing the boss with the other 2 characters

Bit dissapointing for me personally because i thought maybe i missed something super fancy with her as well as with Tifa. But i am also glad that i actually understand Aerith since she is my most favorite character xD

I actually found planet protection to be amazing vs bahamut after he wiped my part and she reprieved. I'm sure his umbral ball things would have hurt, but he attacked me dozens of times while I used arise on all the part members to max their HP before going into Pride and Joy. Gave me plenty of time to finish him off without having to worry about healing up before the next round.
If you’re having trouble against Hell House, playing as Aerith equipped with Bio makes even the hard mode fight bearable.
Ryan Brezzell I was finally able to beat Hell House on hard when I only had her cast poison spells. Poison attacks reduces Houses health so quickly I actually skipped the part where the two mechs joined up.

I think in term of skills shes the most balanced next to berret as her skills give her flexibility and wilynes making her a annoying enemy and a difficult mage to pin down id used and built correctly, like berret if he gets caged in he can slam his arm and give himself space or charge in and slam a difficult enemy very flexable and adaptive.
I don't understand what's the point of plus 20% magic when full MP if the moment you cast a single spell that bonus is gone
What about Parry on Aerith? It gives her a much better dodge if you're willing to give up a materia slot. Worth it?
It's situational, but atb ward has its uses. It costs 2 atb bars to use, but something the description doesn't tell you is that you instantly get one atb bar back upon use.
It's good if you are fighting multiple flying enemies, as Cloud and Tifa struggle to build atb against them and without atb they are basically useless against them.
It's also good if the enemy counters or resists magic, like Behemoth does. Or if it spams reflect and/or silence, like Jenova does.
It's actually more atb/mp efficient to give up Aerith's atb bar and allow an ally to use chakra, than to spend mp or 2 atb bars to use pray with her.
And last, if you are ever come under attack with her, just block, preferably with steadfast block rather than trying to scape. You are less likely to get interrupted and die, and the atb you gain can be used by others to help Aerith, instead of going to waste.
Wait, why does Today struggle to build Atb up against flying enemies? Whenever I use tifa and there are enemies flying around she literally flies at them and just ducks them up in the air lol.
Not trying to be condescending, I am only on chapter 5 so I'm fairly new. I suppose even tho she has an easy time locking onto flying enemies, it's still more difficult than an ground enemy right? Lol

i have her setup almost the same way except with bladed staff, 1 magic up 1 hp up and 2x luck ups. magic crits hit for 9999 pretty commonly and she just destroys.

Are you asking if her square attack is physical damage and not magic damage?
I'm not 100% sure as I am fairly new to the game. But I would guess no. The only time an attack would be physical and not magic is if the attack actually physically connects, or its something "man made" (best way to describe it) like Clouds sword or Tifas fists connecting to hit something, or Barrets gun (bullets) or a grenade hitting something.
Since she is (what looks like) "summoning" an attack out of her staff, I'd say that's magic.
Again, just a guess/best observation, I'm not 100% sure.
Why Fire and not Lightning? It has better tracking and during the Pride and Joy it it's more weaknesses without having the Ifrit troubles against Bahamut.

I just wish we could switch out materia mid battle..i use access but by the time you see an enemy's weakness you already in the fight...

Another general hard mode tip if you're using magic in non-boss fights, keep slashing boxes if they give you Mako shards = MP then save the game. Reload and smash those boxes again. Rinse and repeat until you can't gain anymore MP.

Sorry I realize I’m probably super late wit reply but if u got the first elemental materia there’s another u can get from completing all side missions. Afterwards u complete ones for Angel of slums, she’ll reward u wit letter in wall market close to big wall you have to climb later on

your heal magic is based on magic power so why not use circlet to round out both your magic attack and healing? I had Aerith at 500 magic power and doing 8000 cura heals. faster cast time than curaga in a pinch.

the sad thing about Aerith is that she is not in many chapters as a playable character.for most of the game you have Cloud, Tifa, and Barret . Aerith is a great character their just is not a chance to use her very often as a result many of her weapons are not leveled up by end game.

MP regen good for Hard playthrough??? Hard has no auto mana regen/bench regen/items
It's ok for it but tbh if ur fights are lasting long enough for it to be noticable then you're probably not playing the combat super efficiently. Best advice is just to try and avoid spamming spells vs normal enemies so that you go into boss fights with at least 80% of ur mp. As long as ur running Mp up materia then you should have plenty left
Just use normal spells for every other fight. If possible, put on magnify+attack spell. Break crates as some will restore your MP. If you have Aerith, just go crazy on Soul Drain, especially on a staggered enemy. Use elemental materia+attack spell on your weapons for weaknesses.
you can regen MP via Mako shard that you can get by breaking the boxes.
in hard mode..i always cast soul drain before Aerith die..and arise her with the other member..dont bother to keep her alive. basically i play her like this..spam skill...agro..soul drain..die..arise..repeat.

Start two characters (one is Aerith) with First Strike, Arcane Ward at the start of fight, and then have those two characters do Level 3 spells is a FUCKTON of damage in most fights. The Hard version of Shiva becomes so much easier
Aerith ultimate build is to build around cloud.
I'm not a fan of having to almost beat the story to unlock fast travel and doing the Colosseum so late to grind. Not quite open world.

Yes, Bahamut summons Ifrit when he reaches 50 or 40% HP. It the challenge where you fight against every ingame summon. First Shiva, second fat chocobo, third Leviathan, fourth Bahamut/Ifrit, fifth Pride and Joy. I a fun hard mode challenge took me ~4h to get past Bahamut :D

Donta Crowder That is something I never did actually 😂😂 I summoned Leviathan against Bahamut/Ifrit because his attacks are of no element (like Bahamut). One tip you only have one summon in all those 5 fights and a second one would be take your two elemental+fire and put them in your gear for absorb fire damage. Than you can ignore Ifrit an focus on Bahamut and you getting healed. That also works against the 5th fight because he too haha fire attacks
Yes it’s quite easy, done it on my first time, I wasn’t even fully powered up, just make sure you have magnify and barrier and use it before bahamut uses mega flare
