BltzZ In the original you could pair Poison with Added Effect to get something similar. Unfortunately we don’t have Added Effect yet in Remake.

Oh my god it's so easy. This fight made me rage hard the first time. Definitely going to use this strat on my next playthrough. I'm playing the original for the first time right now and wow Rufus is much easier in this.
Haha yeah he is! In the original if I remember correctly braver immediately kills Rufus which is a reference to the stagger that braver does in this game
I remember when I first fought Rufus on hard mode but I didn’t have any MP. Yeah, this fight took me a while.
Rufus is a trip to go against raw attacks I was so shocked to see how triple slash affected him so much
yeah, my problem too. I don't think I could have used this strategy. I had enough to cast regen on myself, I don't think that would be enough to do sleep and haste instead.
If that happens then you have to have ATB boost on and first strike. Start off with triple slash and go in on darkstar to build ATB then triple slash again build more atb to go into phase two. Start off with atb boost triple slash then kill dark star. When Rufus is by himself you gotta run away till he reloads then use braver on him haha

I did a no damage on Rufus a while ago. Glad to see that sleep is a valid strategy. Thought I just cheesed it lol. Had to dodge him a bit in the last phase because I had no atb at the start of it.
Nice dude! Yeah had to make sure haste and atb is on for solo fights to keep the ATB flowing in
Didn't know Rufus' weakness was Braver. Gonna try this boss fight again lol. He should try dancing with Cloud at the Honeybee inn instead.

I tried this strategy on my first play through on hard and although it took a couple of attempts to get the timing down, it did work like a charm. Hilariously quick. My ATB boost slowdown was barely a third of way up by the time the fight was over. Rufus gets absolutely rinsed lol. 👍

I’m in chapter 17 in hard mode right now. The trifecta of bosses at the end has had me rather anxious, especially given how much trouble this boss gave me the first time around. I’m definitely gonna be using this strategy when I get there!
It's very minimal on MP usage as well! Just be careful and use protective boots during Jenova so you won't get stopped often and don't use magic if you don't need to. Tempest does enough damage on its own. Also against arsenal on my latest FF7 remake stream we beat arsenal with 1 MP on aerith super easy
Did this fight 3 times in normal mode and got my ass kicked so I was dreading it in Hard mode. But you've given me salvation.

That's nothing. . I haven't beat pride and joy yet xD and I'm currently stuck on chapter 16 because I went ahead and collected all the manuscript from previous chapters thinking it was gonna be easier and the specimen boss keeps wiping the floor with me during the third phase because the game forces you to watch the mako poison attack he does and you barely have any time to dodge and get out the way with the other two you're not controlling which causes them to get damaged and poison too! xD that fight is seriously pissing me off more than the top secrets challenge.
Despite facts I'm following malicenx strat to beat specimen down to a T. I just don't know how he avoid poisoning and damage with the other 2 characters and I'm doing everything the same way he did.

@@Little_Yu-Gi oh yeah I know that the top secret challenge is supposed to be extra hard. I'm up to the point where I can discard shiva and fat chocobo easily and sometimes beat leviathan only to get rekt by Bahamut. I've kinda grown accustomed to losing with out rage quitting. Is just this chapter 16 boss is being a pain in the rear. I can always get up to the 3rd phase but is during his mako explosion attack where shit goes south because the cut scene of him charging it doesn't give you enough time to get out of the way with the other two which causes them to get poisoned and losing a huge chunk of health. Plus sleep/stop doesn't work for me during the 3rd phase so he just ends up mopping the floor with me. Even if I keep using cura to keep Tifa or cloud alive with barrett.
Barrett is the only one out of these two who plays defensively on its own the other two not so much they go on the offensive and get ravaged so I gotta keep alternating to distract the boss and hit him with firaga on his arm with the other two.
Best Rufus guide I've seen so far. Congrats for all of your great guides and Im enyoing the FF7Origanal livestreams as well. I hope you will bring out more guides about team constalations. Actually I have problems to find out new builds with new strategies. I just tried a team with the eSkill limit trick on aerith, then use her planets protection and use barret with manawall+all and use regen on barret and then I used cloud as dmgDealer but Ive problems to perfection it. Maybe you got any ideas for this✌️✌️✌️
It's a solid strategy but lacks a lot of damage overall tbh I'm doing something similar with the Sephiroth fight and trying to perfect it today haha. I'd say planets protection as aerith is all you need because then you can mitigate or dodge the magic attacks
@@BltzZ my friend. Shit on this perfect run. In my opinion in makes no difference if you take no dmg or if one char lose 50hp. I don't care cause your builds r working fine. So I say shit on that. I don't care and I guess that the most think so tooo💜✌️

I just came up with another strategy. Have elemental materia and lightning materia in the slots of the armor so his lightning attacks heal you and while he’s charging up the attack, he’s defenseless and so is his dog, so use that little time to get a few attacks in. Also, you could put Rufus to sleep if he doesn’t counter or resist it that way, you could try attacking the dog without him being in the way.
I’ve tried that and the electric attacks still got me. Did it work for you?

Took me way too long to finish this on hard mode, but I’ve been at it all week cause I’m so depressed that I can’t play FF16… no PS5. Then last night, my buddy called and said I could use his PS5 for 2 weeks!!!

If there is anyone still playing the game here’s a fast easy way to beat him also make sure you have wild stinger and it’s skill. when in second phase wait until he does that dash move and then right when he’s about to shoot you, use wild stingers counter, doing this will do a huge amount of hp

Thanks for this. Even with it, it took me a few tries. I was so pissed as I nearly no damaged him first try but the combo didn’t finish him off and then I just couldn’t get anything right, then bam, got him!
Oh man! That's rough haha atleast you clapped him up eventually tho!
I just beat him with my strategy!! When you finally beat the dog, try to not let him get close enough to shoot you, if you’re low on MP, run around to build up your ATB and when he attacks with the smoke screen, quickly use triple slash to counter before he repels off again. He’ll counter with his gun, so you won’t get the whole move in, but with the iron blade, you can cause damage to him. Also his counter doesn’t take as much damage as it would if he was hitting you with multiple bullets. If you can, try hitting him with a sleep spell since your MP slowly increases during the battle. It may take bit longer, but if you follow his movements and dodge his more powerful attacks while running around, you’ll eventually beat him. He may can counter most of your physical attacks up close, but he can’t defend himself against all. It’s all about timing and finding a clear opening. The materia I used was elemental linked with fire, ATB, Heal, Elemental linked with lightning in the armor slots so you can heal while the dog is there and get a few attacks in, binding, Barrier to reduce the damage from his gun attacks and ATB stagger. Instead of the fury ring, I gave him the revival earrings in case he died unexpectedly during the battle, but after my 8th or 9th time, I didn’t even need them.
Holy F.. thanks so much for this video! I hadn't too much trouble throughout the game on hard.. but Rufus truly was the most frustrating boss.. If you have no idea what to do that is.
No problem dude! Just put em to sleep and all is well haha. Yeah it's all about the mechanics and knowing what to do in specific phases. Make Rufus look like the spoiled rich baby he is haha

The whole chapter 17 was crazy. I need to keep this guy alive to recover my MP with Mythical Saber. Definitely don't want to go to the next boss with only 4 MP. Been chased by the dog all day and couldn't come out alive once.

Without a lot of end game grinding, you can't beat him in one stagger at the end. Just run around the map and stay alive and somewhat near him and wait for 'reload' then use braver. You'll finish him in that stagger easily.
Absolutely random, but I was reading the dialogue between Rufus and Cloud and forgot how many sexual innuendos there were, lol! Just another member of Cloud's ever-growing harem...
Also, that was sick how you toggled the striking! Never knew you could control when and where they attacked beyond the initial enemy selection. Learning a lot watching these videos :)
Easiest way I found. Use skill triple slash (1 atb, obtained from iron blade, does not need to be equipped to use skill) on the dog. It sperates rufus from him, so you can attack him without getting shot at. To heal and conserve mp Equip prayer materia (command materia, yellow) it uses 2 atb but if max heals appropriately 2000, and use Chakra materia (command Materia, yellow) cost 1 atb does health depending how much damage you guard against usually about 700-1200 hp. You can use pray and chrakra from ability menu (usually at the end of the list). The rest of my materia was heal materia, hp up, fire materia linked to mp absorption. For the last battle (without the dog) I guarded, attacked/healed while he reloaded, and used limit break cross chain.

Thank you for this, I was trying for 3 hrs and nothing. Had to try twice your way, first time kept forgetting to go into punisher mode. Also not lvl 50, currently 38 and my purple materia isnt maxed out. But my 2nd try when i did use punisher mode, it went just as fast as yours did.

Some additional advice load up aerith and Barrett with the material needed for their upcoming fight because u don’t get to go into the menu inbetween them

This is so creative man.. that last phase was really hard on 1st time playing it.. me and my sis have different approach.. like i let him do his booster like dash 2-3 times then i will do a counterstance, i can still get caught though, my sis will count his attack then she will know when rufus will reload, then thats the opening, when the time he will counter he wont have any bullets, just dont get too greedy.. nice vid always man..

Haha no problem man! Just do some grinding to level up in hard mode since the AP is tripled. I recommend the beginning of chapter 16 which is what I did over and over again to master a full set of materia in 15 mins! Enjoy dude we got lots of guides that make fight soooo much easier

I totally needed this I'm doing full replaythrough of the game on the ps5 version in hard mode for achievement and that Jenovo fight took almost all my MP on Cloud and Aerith.
So this helped cause I hate the Rufus fight. I used the buster sword bur that's because I had it maxed out so it does a totally of 91 physical and magic damage and has 7 physical and magic defense and operator mode makes it stronger so it worked out I had to use poison at the end on Rufus and regen to not lose and I just cheesed it by parry dodging until I got ATB boost and then cast haste again and abused hitting triangle again while dodging around to do the spin attack in operator mode until I got 2 ATB bars and enough MP to cause sleep so I could hit him with sleep and a braver them operator mode and a braver again to finish him off as he got out of stagger which worked out sense braver is stronger on buster sword probably because it's extremely heavy and the skill was obtained from the buster or something.

Geezzz why I did not see this before dang ???? That was super fast Kill Man, i was having difficulties using NAIL BAT due to low Combo on strong attach mode :) but manage to kill him in HARDMODE using GÖTTERDÄMMERUNG ... I'm near to my Goal killing all boss using NAIL Bath 2 Boss remaining ... I wonder if you made Boss Guide for whisper and sephiroth?

I remember beating the living crap out of Rufus, flawless victory.
Not the dog though, to me he was the real BOSS in the fight and it was a huge pain in the ass to defeat him.
Rufus on the other hand, I put that mofo to sleep, ATB boost to Full ATB, 2 consecutive abilities and Litmit Break his his ass into oblivion.
He was gone in 60 seconds…

I had to use stop after sleep to keep him down long enough, this did not work on its face, 3rd round cast stop, hit w/ braver, cast sleep, full punish attack, triple sl. If i do not use the stop rufus ALWAYS recovers w/10-20% of his health and can be rough to finish off if your not ready. I bet your surprised I made it this far. Hell house broke my brain but I got a new one

It feels weird using status effects on Bosses. The Persona series conditioned me to never try it out because they never work. Great strategy it's impossible to mess it up with how you explain each phase. Like! Also I'm pretty sure they practice those exits everytime before they go to bed lol

Reno & Rude: "Ok boss were off to sleep"
Rufus: "are we forgetting something?"
Rude: "I'll go get the chopper...."
Loll I love that in this game status effects are more present than they were in the original game! You barely could use them like in the persona games as well

After seeing this I think the devs at Square might make the bosses in part 2 less susceptible to status effects. What are your thoughts on status in this game? And what do you hope they do with it in part 2?
I hope they stick around dude because in the original games of FF status effects are useless against bosses and become a mindless punch and hit fight which is boring. I love the creativity we can have with this

No worries, just keep on triple slashing and building up ATB to interrupt him and darkstar. Then when alone with Rufus use braver on him while he's stuck reloading!

At this point I got the gotterdammerung, I start the fight with Ascension limit break on Darkstar then immediately cast sleep on Rufus then punisher mode to kill Darkstar, 2nd Phase I'm blocking and evading Rufus Attacks until he reloads until I build my 2nd limit break then boom he's finished! 😅

One attempt at this doesn't work. When putting him to sleep, and then doing a barrage on him in Punisher mode, there's still a quarter of his health left for me. And Sleep doesn't work a 2nd time. Suggestions?

@@BltzZ Just finished the final battle, now I'll get a new safe file there. I imagine it's more fun if I start with mp and don't have to stall until I can cast sleep :-D But first back to the last 2 simulator missions.

Things that I love about this game is, the complexity. You can beat the beat bosses in many ways, I beat Rufus in a completely different play style, I rather using a counter to his attack. Cloud is counter attack is OP tho.

Lmao - has 3 MP from the previous fight so just dodged akimbo and was able to hit triple slash to stagger, punish mode combo then into Braver to finish. Almost every boss fight during my hard mode run so far has been with little to no MP 😅

Dang ok I had a killer strategy for harbingers involving Gotterdammerung. Ok I'll figure something else out :)
I beat the whispers without the gotterdammerung on hard mode the key is to equip ICE don't worry about the fact that the whispers are weak to different elements coz they are all weak against ice to equip your party with ice plus the usual healing and ATB matarias and you will be golden I did this 1st time and I've never finished a final fantasy game and I'm not a dark souls player
Whenever you get caught blocking his Bullets Akimbo, you can use Parry to cancel the lock animation on the last hit to reach him out easily while he is loading.

I have to come back to beat him but focus on using the lock on the drones to take them out first. Then lots of lightning magic. If you don't have MP use lots of aeriths tempest fully held down

Oh wow, nice tip on the Braver. Stop/Magnify works on both of them too if you didn't know.
Yeah originally I always used stop but it was inconsistent because sometimes stop would stop Rufus in a animation and braver would not work amd stagger him lol it was weird

The first luck up is from getting top score on darts in chapter 3! And the other is beating the squat challenge in chapter 9. It changes the game!
