- YES! You READ IT RIGHT! TOPLESS TOPLESS TOPLESS!
With the mechanical issues appearing to be sorted out, we focus on cleaning up some of the cosmetics, starting with a convertible top replacement.
The previous owner was quoted nearly $2,000 to have the work done. Is it really that much work? We'll find out!

THANKS FOR THE VIDEO! LIKE YOU, i WATCHED a lot of videos that made it look complicated and a long process. Yours was shorter and to the point with out all the fluffing.
Thanks! It's a hard balance between cutting out important bits, and coma-inducing long videos!
Really tryna psych myself up to try this. My daughter and I wanna try it
It's not a fast project, but it's not impossible either. Really, I feel the key is the upholstery stapler (anything electric and more powerful than your hand) and taking the time to line things up. Good luck!
Did you and your daughter ever tackle this?
Just getting finished with taking off the top, do you happen to have the measurement where to place the new top to the bar or any tips to make the stapling process go smoothly and for the first time?
I don't recall offhand, but what I believe I did was dry-fit the new top parts to the rear brackets (on the trunk filler panel) and get the material centered on the vehicle. I picked a couple reference point on both sides at both the front and rear of the convertible top frame.
Doing one right now on a 95 GT. Yee-Haw
Good luck! The electric stapler is your friend!
Yes, it was! When someone asks me if I know how to replace a convertible top on a Mustang GT, I'll be sure to tell them hell no! 😆
@@d.b.lawton4036 Not the easiest project, but beats shelling out the 2 grand I was quoted.
....and worth every penny!
Great video, when will we see part 2?
Ole - It came out quite some time ago - Be sure to check the playlist for this series and you'll see them all :)
@@DachsAutos Thx, I found it, for some reason it was not listed when I watched part 1.
What staple gun and staples did you use for this?
I don't recall the exact model as I borrowed it from my Father, but it was an upholstery grade electric staple gun that had far more punch than your regular hand-operated model.
Hey Shane - It's a Duo-Fast unit, model number ENC5418A - a.co/d/aX4rcQT
@@DachsAutos Thanks!
