He was there before the jumbo jets arrived, and the question is whether they should have the runways so close to residential areas, with all the noise and the fumes that brings with it.
He says that Southend Airport had its heyday in the 1960s, and by the time he bought the house, was no longer thriving, so it was a reasonable line of thought to think it would stay that way. The question is whether they should be allowed to build runways for jumbo jets so close to a residential area. If that was in Germany, he wouldn't be allowed to mow his lawn on a Sunday, but the jumbo jets can taxi past the bottom of his garden 🧐
