I love that you mentioned how people of all ages and experience can just learn and create. At 70 I returned to painting after losing my husband and found all kinds of supplies that I'd accumulated through failed attempts. This time inspired by you and other YT artists I decided to learn, progress and not quit. OH you mentioned a fighter pilot who'd become an artist. Is he on YT? THANKS, Taria
Hi Martie, so happy to hear you have returned to art! There's no age limit on creativity :) I think when I mentioned the fighter pilot it was in reference to Masterchef! I find people who discover their passion or change their direction after accomplishing a lot in a previous career very inspiring :)
I’m happy to have discovered your channel and work. You have a generous spirit in sharing the work of others and what inspires you. Refreshing. I changed careers at 47, turning 56 tomorrow. You can start over at anytime. Thanks for the video, so many amazing artists.
People are hard. I'm on Ian Fennelly's page where he says those motion figures are there, but have left the scene, LOL. Most times I leave them out! Like you I've been trying and finding abstract shapes, or using the belly of the brush for a head for instance works, kinda. I find the smaller brushes work better too (I use Rosemary & Co spotter brushes for small details because they are so controllable). It's like impressionist people shapes and that works for me not thinking about people shapes faithfully if that makes sense. I wish I knew Art terminology, lol. Always enjoy your inspiriation Artists. Fab Artist's here, and many new ones to explore. I love Will's approach because it's how I've been working lately, using sketches for a kind of 'mock-up' with colour/shadow/highlight colours noted, plus ideas about what to include or leave out completely. All backed up with a sneaky photo, but photos don't show the shadow and highlight colours properly. So documentation of colours and stuff is important for me when I'm excited to do a painting that goes beyond the sketch. I've already put Tony Grogan on my abebooks search and hope to find secondhand, it seems like a treasure trove of ideas. Always enjoy it when you highligh Artists, yet may burn a hole in my pocket, lol. Looking forward to your progression with tackling people in motion because it stumps me! Love always 💚 👍
Another great, inspirational video! I've always struggled with drawing people, maybe because I try to make them too realistic. Also, the wedding sketcher idea is such a good one! I won't be surprised if that starts becoming more popular.
Thank you! One suggestion for the website. If you put at least one example clip of how the videos look like on the website, it would be extremely helpful for people to decide if they are going to like it or not before signing up (or walk away).
Thanks for showing other artists sketches of people, i liked also the book review, i think its great that sketches dont have to be a exact copy of a artist environment...mikelle art mom🎨✍👩🎨
This was super interesting - thank you - some wonderful artists in there. Was surprised to see the Tony Grogan clip - I have this book as well - someone gave it to me. I'm an educational illustrator and I so envy the bright palettes and abstractions these artists bring to their work - my stuff is so rigid! Are you still in South Africa?
@@tarias_sketchy_adventures Great! If I see any of his books - sales or wherever - I'll get hold of you - send it up to you. I love your work as well and this particular video was very inspiring - just what I need! Thank you so much.
Practice people sketching anytime - FINALLY a video library of people in motion is here!! peoplesketching.com
thank you for the mention! It was a nice surprise
