This is what my dad would make for us when I was like 6 years old up to when I moved out.. at lest once a week, lol i have the last in the back of my mouth how i remember it. me being older i never really see hem much or get to enjoy he's cooking but today I had to ask hem to make it for me, and he did, this was one of thos foods that bring you back to being a lil kid for me... and his was the best IMO lol.. thanks for the video
When I was a kid in the Chicago area, I used to go to this PePes on Calumet Ave. They had a version of this soup that is imprinted in my memory. It took me years of tinkering with the recipes found online to finally get close enough to please my soul. It was the cumin. I will deffinatly try this version to see what I can take from it. Thank you for the great content! 🤟
Yes, I agree cumin is a very familiar flavor for these types of caldos. Good food man! Knorr chicken bullion or powders are used A lot for convenient , consistent flavor for the broth. Arnie added a scoop of rice at the end and it probably had some cumin in it.
Pepe’s. That brings back memories. Growing up, there was a Pepe’s a few blocks from our house, the one on 112th and State St. I remembering walking past that restaurant many times, wanting to eat there. Never got a chance to. Now I live in Atlanta. 😊 Next time I go home for a visit I’ll make a trip to Pepe’s . 😊
My family always makes this in the summer. Its supposed to make the weather not feel as hot, compared to the soup. No idea of thats true, but i love it.
San Antonio in the house!! I love all of your videos! So glad I came across your channel! That Caldo de pollo looks 👌🏼 exactly how my daddy taught me to make it. 🥰 That ending though. 🤣 🔥 love it!
I've been needing to find a recipe like this since my favorite local Mexican restaurant closed--I used to get this soup there every time someone I knew got sick. Thank you so much!
Thank you. This reminds me of the caldo my mom used to make especially in the winter time. It was her favorite soup and it was the only time we would eat vegetables like carrots and cabbage!
Arnie, Thank you brother!! We just made this today! It turned out so delicious!!! You definitely delivered the goods and we say thank you and our spoons salute you!!
Never let me down on the other recipes I’ve tried from u. It’s cold today in Houston tx so I’m making some of this delicious soup for my family tonight❤ thank u brotha
Currently across the country for med school and homesick so decided to make caldo de pollo. Found your recipe and will be trying it tonight. But I noticed your Nieto sign in the background! Same last name so now I know this recipe is going to be good ❤
Nothing like a caldo de pollo, any time of year (mom would make it and other caldos in the dead of summer haha)... man and the jalapeño? thats the cherry on top for me. Thanks for sharing tio!
It's so delicious. I'm always torn between pollo and res. I'm going to make this for sure, but El Rocio, my favorite family restaurant makes a mean caldo, and it's chilly here today. Thanks so much Arnie. Now I know how greatness is made!
Man you can’t go wrong with Caldo de Pollo, you know what they say it ain’t Campbell soup🤣🤣 you’re right ArnieTex everyone makes it the way they were taught, I just made a small pot on Sunday and me and my wife had the last of it yesterday😋 it hit the spot especially because it’s been cold. True comfort food😉
Thank you for this video! A restaurant near me serves this on the menu and I have always wanted to make it myself. I will report back once I can round up the ingredients.
Great video. Thanks. I make caldo pretty regularly. Learned the flavors from eating at a taqueria I visited years ago. Again, it's a great video. Thank you.
For sure, caldo de pollo is a comfort food. Man, you got me started. I'm making some this coming week since we're having a bit of a cold snap. I'll have to give OG a try.
Just had my very first bowl of caldo de res next door at Tony's Tacos in Hastings,Ne. Moments ago. Very good. Wanted to see how Arnie Tex would make it!
This is amazing. My grandmother passed away recently and I find myself struggling when I can’t call her to tell me what to put in the certain recipes. 😭
🤎🤎🤎🤎 Soup is everyday round here!!! I made your version and I did it just like you did and the Pot's empty!!! Yummy...thank you for sharing your family's recipe.
Love this! I like to bake my chicken separate, and peel it off the bone, but I definitely remember my grandmother making everything in a pot. Awesome vid though, definitely brings me back to that nostalgic feeling of eating caldo at my grandmothers on a cold winter day.
Yes please, Albondigas soup! 🍲 I'm making Caldo de pollo rn I've added a little rice 🍚, but I've copied some people that have used a bay leaf? 🍃 🤔 Idk, but I don't have some rn and your recipe looks perfect anyway. Gracias 🙏🏽🙂
Try Knorr chicken broth powder, it's a pretty good starting point if you don't have broth already prepared . It's also common to taste a little cumin, just be careful it can overpower. Every once in a while my family would drop in a spoonful of tomatoe sauce and it changed it up a little too. Just a touch though. Happy cookin! 👍🏽
My wife is sick and this is my first time making caldo de pollo. Thank you for the recipe Arnie! 🙂
Hey I'm doing the exact same 😂
And you learned how to make chicken soup for her. She is a lucky lady :)

Ox tails are 👍🏽🔥👍🏽🔥 . You know something good is about to happen when the huge pot comes out 👍🏽

Looks wonderful. Any South Texas tips on the chicken broth?
We simmer chicken thighs a couple times a week so we always have some in the fridge
Try Knorr chicken broth powder, it's a pretty good starting point if you don't have broth already prepared . It's also common to taste a little cumin, just be careful it can overpower.
