Their first big hit if I remember right. As usual in those days, only the vocalists got any close-ups. Poor ol' Eric and Bobby must have been just a wee bit teed off.
We were so infatuated with the sounds, and the faces, that we never saw the work that went into making a 'perfect' video recording. Until a big screen with zoom, I never noticed that they were lip-synching to a master recording, and the guitars had no strings before, to keep them from accidentally touching anything a millisecond before or after the master. It makes you wonder about the drums - were they just a bunch ow towels inside the drum kits to beat on. The cymbals do occasionally move. This would have meant a lot of extra work, getting set up, to give us these perfect live moments in sound that we cherished so much.
I see they're playing their magical TV guitars requiring no connectivity to an amplifier. Decades ahead of when this tech was commonly available. /sarc
Believe it or not, but instrumental groups like the Spotnicks had RF transmitters for guitars even earlier. In any case, there are performances by the Hollies that proof that they were an excellent live band, what with Tony Hicks and Bobby Elliot.
Member that time Jimmy Morrison was laying out on Love Street naked as a picked bird? Cops came and just asked him to go inside. Wondrous times. I'm going to die soon, but I still have memories like that one.
I've already posted about how I loved SHINDIG over HULLABALOO back in the 60s because it was a LIVE performance, whereas HULLABALOO was all lip-synched. The Hollies, with Graham Nash were unbeatable when it came to harmonies, and song writing. But...the Beatles are still my favorite band.
The footage from shindig hasn't been sped up but this 'live' recording is definitely faster than the studio version. Also I notice the bass line is very different to the original.
For me the Hollies were one of the best bands of the 60s their harmonies were unique
A lot of comments about Bobby Elliotts drumming, BUT, the Bass playing by the late Eric Haydock ...who was co-founder of the group is top notch.
Is Fender pawn shop 6 string
Even Graham Nash himself considered Haydock to be a great bassist.
They’re adorable! Graham is such a baby
One of the best drummers from the Invasion.
I agree, and Elliott is criminally underrated as well. I believe he was the very best.
TALENT all over that stage
I'll bet Hollies fans could recognize Allan's voice blindfolded.
Love Tony Hicks.
Pure talent meets hard work. Tony looks like he’s 12.
He probably wasn't a hell of a lot older than that.
I think he was around 18 or 19 in this
Tony has looked like a kid for most of his life hahah
He was 19, so he was basically still a teenager
He turned 20 that year tho
He was the 'baby' of The Hollies
The Great Early days. Bring em back!
Finally a video with Graham Nash in it.
I found myself smiling through this video. They’re all so cute and the music of the 60s makes me so happy.
Lovely group!
"The Hollies" - FOREVER!
They are mere babies. 🎉🎉🎉Love this group❤❤❤
Sensational to hear the songs of the past, they are great.
The greatest band ever
Harmonies every bit as good as that foursome from Liverpool.
Has Tony Hicks always looked about 12?
He does look 12😂
Nah, the clear before he looked 11.
It's part of charm
The fab 5 of the 60s i could sing the words to all thier songs
Rare film interesting... Graham Nash voice clean & impressing
Bobby on top form as usual.
Just one look. Another true song. Song is very good even better
First record by the Hollies I bought..
one of my favorite groups ggd singing an musicaly talented
Aww Tony looks so innocent here 🥺❤️
Very good, cool music!
Love these ❤️
The talent was staggering in the mid 60s a Beatles style peppy pop song....
The Hollies
Their first big hit if I remember right.
As usual in those days, only the vocalists got any close-ups. Poor ol' Eric and Bobby must have been just a wee bit teed off.
Love this song! Thanks for posting.
Tony looks about 12, he now looks like a mature 12 year old....
Youth is beautiful.
Kids creating brilliant music
Lol…so young!
❤

Tony had just recently started eating solid food.
So great until today with Peter.....
The Hollies were no longer after Allan Clarke retired.
Blast from the past 😸
You really hear Graham
My God there young
They were all around 22/23 years old, except for Tony, who was 19
Que beleza de música
Awesome
This is first time I hear the original version of this song.
Ual, essa é bem antiga, estavam bem novinhos, que ano seria??? Amo the hollies 🥰

Graham Nash got to sing a few lead vocals in this one.

Tony couldn't lip synch to save himself.
Bobby Elliott over doing it as usual

Holy The Hollies 4Ever!!! ✌️🎸
Where is Graham Hash?
He's the one, center, playing that Danelectro Longhorn guitar!! Really young cats here..See they've got Eric Haydock on bass, before Bernie Calvert..
@@samburkes7552 thanks a lot.
thunderbirds
Bobby was banging away without a close up.... Threw in a few extra fills but nothing..
Beatles influencied almost all Pop Rock Music on 60's
Not in England
seems live, but where are the amps and cords ? 😄
It's not live. They are lipping.
Estaban chiquillos pero cantaban bien 👍
Bobby Elliot 😳
I always thought this was just a car ad.
Has this been speeded up?
The footage from shindig hasn't been sped up but this 'live' recording is definitely faster than the studio version. Also I notice the bass line is very different to the original.
No, The Hollies played always a bit faster than the actual record when they were playing live
@@Harrisonianne thanks for the info
Unlike the Beatles very dated
Lip sync.
nope not n this one
Sounds like the beatles, but they arent
