Now that's the type of people we need running our cities
Kudos to the Mayor of Sandy Springs for making no apologies...
Yeah, arming up costumed criminals is exactly what we should be doing
I just found out a director of a domestic violence facility gets paid like 50k a year… she helps facilitate resources and intervention among other things to help abuse victims and their families. A lot of the ppl she deals with are teenagers. They do not pay these ppl enough! This inc teachers and other professions.
Exactly!!
Very good money. Teachers complain too and they make more than enough
@@toordog1753 not sure about that. The teachers I know get paid 40k-50k usually. 50k and up if they continue with their education etc. That’s nothing for all they do. Parents are no help too. They usually make things worse. So I personally don’t think they get paid enough. I make more a week than my friends with masters in education and I’m a house manager.
Alot of people arent getting paid enougj
When I was a deputy 15 years ago, I made 32K a year. Boy I would have moved from NC to Sandy Springs for a 6 figure salary. They really appreciate the risks their police officers take and compensate them for it. I bet their application list is a mile long for 6 figure salaries.
Stop with the histrionics and the intellectual dishonesty. What risk? Being a police officer is one of the safest jobs according to the metrics, in fact most police officers will go there entire career without ever having to pull the service weapon on a perp.
Fair enough with them most likely not having crazy stuff happen but to say it’s an overall safe job is nothing but idiotic. They have to go out day to day dealing with FATAL threats that could show themselves any day of the week. That’s a part of the job. Hell idk about you but if there was even a slight possibility of me getting shot at on the job I’d want that salary for that risk as well 🤷🏽♂️
@@camquest6108 I’m in the logging industry, statistically my job is like 33 times more dangerous than a police officer. Where’s our love? Being a cop is not even close to the most dangerous jobs in the country. Most of them are pencil pushers with guns.
@@TheRTM still not a safe job you are risking your life EVERYTIME you contact a person and you are constantly interacting with the scum of society honestly how is that safe?
That's a damn shame 32k you guys deserve way more man
As they should they risk their life’s everyday.
I mean, if you want police officers to put their lives on the line, or take a bullet, then yes - this amount seems fair. Teachers should make this much. Firefighters should make this much.
When you offer this sort of pay, everyone flocks to you and you can really pick the best of the best. You can also get rid of problematic individuals much more freely because you know that you are offering very desirable positions - so finding a quality employee to replace a bad one is much easier. Tech and finance have know this forever, that’s why those jobs pay so well. Jobs that don’t pay well will always be plagued with staffing shortages and will always be forced to take “whoever” just to fill the open slots.
@@mettfury6204 and discounts on vehicles and homes...unless that's changed.
@@DumbleDoff School would be changed to the whole year and standards would be higher. You're not making 6 figures and just playing movies.
@@DumbleDoff very very very dumb take. Like objectively dumb
Good teachers should make more.
But if you figure there wages at approximately 175 working days a year, they make damn good money.
A local school was pushing for wage increases..a man researched and published what each teacher made, hours worked, and benefits .
Needless to say, the teachers quietly gave up
And everyone will taxed out of there home
They deserve 6 figures at minimum
We deserve it in New Orleans for sure lol
This is great. The question will be how many folks that apply are fit for police work per the background requirements.
Smart. Paying more means recruiting better officers. That means less dumb actions by officers that lead to law suits. Pay cheap and you get glorified mall security. You get what you pay for.
no, this is a fallacy. anyone who owns a business knows paying more doesnt get you better workers.
I support this Message - Hunter Biden
@@scottgust9709 have you read any research or viewed any published opinion to back your view? My experience is what I commented but I'm open to learning of other experiences.
@@scottgust9709cope. Cops are making more than ever before across the country and this will only continue 😂. Oh and QI will never go away either.
Without question I would try to join that police force.
Yup! And be a damn good officer too!
Two things: the pay, and the rhetoric. This level of pay is as it should be. Civilized society needs law enforcement. The more politicians and media disrespect and second guess law enforcment, the more the criminal element feels entitled to commit crime. The media must stop using police to create click bait to earn ad dollars. Plumbers can make six figures for strenuous, dirty work. Officers risk their lives every day. Restore qualified immunity to help with confidence. Great to see the lawn signs too.
If bad cops stop breaking the law. The media won't have anything to talk about.
As long as the service lives up to the cost. Premium cost better mean premium service. No stupid mistakes. No fire arms instead of tasers. No shooting unarmed ppl, practice de-escalation. Then I have no issue with this.
QI never went away and it never will
So what ! Every police officer deserves a decent salary,$100,000 still isn't enough !
So they deserve more than our special forces? 🤔
@@bokc_nonpopularsalt1011 You can make that in SF. Especially with hazard bonus from overseas deployments and your pay grade.
@@2KCamaroZ28SS Right being police is a much safer job than going in foreign lands.
They should get paid at least six figures!
As they should.
Most police officers in Canada are on track to making 6-figure salaries (albeit, in CAD), within 5 years.
They get $125,000 a year with 30% more in overtime. They must enforce unpopular laws on an unwilling public.
Employers are paying employees more. But inflation and the price of everything has gone up.
inflation is winning by a land slide
A lot of money for people who aren't accountable and dont serve us in any way. This will end very soon.
Nope. Cops are making more than ever before and will only continue this direction forever 😂. Cope loser. Cops getting paid more than ever, have their QI going nowhere, fat pensions, amazing healthcare. While u live off food stamps 😂
How will it end? NYPD just got a new crazy boost in salary
they earned it they put their lifes on the line
Sandy Springs is doing a smart thing. Atlanta is huge and you can drive for miles without ever seeing a single cop in most areas... unless you’re in Buckhead or Midtown where literally the handful of the police force patrol. The rest of the city is ‘everyone fend for themselves’.
I mean they got enough snitches on the streets and self incrimination. Cops dont have to deal with much
Good for Sandy Springs, wish the states largest department would ; City of Atlanta.
Would the officers in Uvalde acted any differently if they were getting 6 figures?
When you pay six figures you have a better pool of competent folks to choose from. Uvalde = incompetent
Continue to Research the truth. The world is a lie.
So because of the actions of 1 department we should judge the 1 million full time officer across the USA? That’s your best argument 🤣🤡? What about when a doctor or nurse messes up and kills someone? Or when a lawyer helps a guilty man go free? Or when a public systems worker messes up and gets someone killed?
Trip they act like 100,000 is a lot of $$ . SMH imagine sitting in your office and a bank robbery happens , guess who supposed to deal with the situation.
To the men and women who put the uniform on to make world a better place.
Ty
$100k is a lot to officers that get paid less to work in areas with much higher crime. Hence why they are at full capacity.
I love that they pay them the police departments in Georgia pay to low yet they want these officers to deal with the foolishness that's on the streets also they should be given free apartments just like live in supers get it together GA pay your police and firefighters period!
What a complete waste of tax dollars
They should and the teachers also. Thats y its barely any
Now do teachers!
Go year round, get 2 to 4 week off for vacation like cops do then maybe we should increase your pay. For the now 1400 hour contract most teachers work with huge time off you get paid appropriately , while everyone else works 2000 hours.
Good ! If they do it honestly what's anyone's problem here. I think they put their life on the line of duty, it is a high risk job and it is totally justified for them to make those few extra bucks IMHO. Btw 100k IS NOTHING THESE DAYS. I DONT UNDERSTAND WHY THERE IS A NEWS STORY ON THIS.
Congratulations to the ones that actually want to be a officer cause man they are so disrespected & a targeted in some communities, that’s still not enough money knowing how life threatening the job is.
Especially after the Supreme Court has ruled they protect and serve NOONE But the state.
Awesome 👏!!! Good job!
This is awesome!!!
Higher taxes to include making up those salaries through traffic enforcement.
Good they deserve every dime.
Sandy Springs is probably a very rich community too.
Meanwhile, teachers who have degrees are struggling
How many speeding ticket do they have to issue per day
I would view a 2% raise as an insult, almost better to give no raise than to give 2%.
I’m a RN and I make more than 100k a year. Not risking my life while doing it either. They get raises while we the taxpayers pay for their stupidity.
I would be more worried about an Atlanta mayor or DA not having my back.
So people can shoot a ball in a hoop and become millionaires but a cop that’s supposed to risk his or her live daily to keep people safe is barely over minimum wage?? This is almost sinful for America.
These officers have absolutely nothing but a high school education most of them have come out of the service they're not qualified to do much of anything other than that and for them to make that much money listen up it is not the most dangerous job in America being a roofer is 5 times more likely not to come home to his wife and family everyday as a cop law enforcement in this country is mounting
Here's another public comment regarding your shoot a hoop become a millionaire and America America is not the greatest country in the world nor has it ever been the greatest country in the world that's just purely a lot of political patriotism and propaganda that people put out in this country this country is about as seriously corrupt is any other in the f****** world our entire economy is built upon the defense contractors nowadays why because our patriotic companies in the 80s when Reagan came in and gave the rich and the corporations everything they wanted with the trickle-down theory will they trickled all that money overseas and took all the jobs away from America's America is currently on a downward slide into a pit of s***am I being 67 years old I'm hoping I can watch it happen before I die
With as much as they get disrespected, and as much as they risk their lives every day, this salary is not only justified, but deserved...
Good for them. In my department our chief is the only pereven getting close to that amount. I've been here 4 years and I don't even make 40.
People that are in the health care areas in hospitals and nursing care places should get more wages up to get more pay in the hole world .
That's too high, but if the local city wants to pay it, that's ok I guess. You can only do it for the cops though, if you do it for all govt officials, your tax rates will be insane.
Given the nature of the job, it's more than fair
most dangerous job they should get that at least...
not going to solve the ongoing violence when your gov keep on releasing these criminals back into the street. You may get a 6+ figure paying job, but how long do you get to live until you get hurt or killed to see that 6+ figure pay?
The cops don't do anything to earn that money
They should be well paid so no weird stuff goes aside
Citizens are a trip. They’ll pay ridiculous amounts of money to watch some overgrown man child chase a ball, but they scream bloody murder when the people who protect their homes, their health, their lives and teach their children ask for a fair wage. They think that the financial goals from when they were kids are still valid, but the respectable earnings of 25 or 40 years ago or now barely poverty level! $134k is barely modest middle class income now, and five dollar a gallon gas is a serious pinch!
Our values are all misplaced...smdh...lived there a few years, it was nice and peaceful.
They don’t protect a thing
It's a life and death job some people forget
Exactly 💯
My sister is a New York Deputy Sheriff and she made over $100k and she is retied and makes about $45k with her soc sec and pension.
Good for her
How many young hard working kids at minimum wage does it take to pay for one under educated L.E.O.?
Subbed 👍
What about social workers, case managers, non profit workers who work to keep folks out of the criminal system?
And teachers
The people you mentioned need to start inside communities to help families learn how to raise their children. Also, how do you shift a culture that glorifies criminality with everything from music to facebook and tick tock videos. The peole on your list want to do important work, but they must be taught, as part of their degree program and ongoing certification, much more about what actually happens when crime is committed, and about the behavior of criminals. Judges should also be educated/CE in this way. Law enforcment knows first-hand what's going on in the street and in communities.
@@backdeck9978 law enforcement are trained to take lives not to save them. Social services attempt to ameliorate the barriers folks face such as mental health. Teachers are educating the future of the U.S. If a person is having a mental health crisis, a cop only knows to shoot, not de-escalate. An ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure.
They better be robocop making that type of money. Sacrifice your body 🤣
Give it to the rev collectors
In Chicago it's the same thing but they never tell that part
Awesome news! "A good worker, is worthy of their hire." I'd live in Sandy Springs, if I could afford it. It's a 1st World City.
True
It's called hush money
What are the taxes like tho lol
So what you're saying is that if you pay people enough, you avoid employee shortages? Who would have thought?
Yep
you go out to california and you have patrol officers makeing well over 200K.
i once saw a news story on a corrupt detective in cali who pulled in 450K per year.
in all fairness when you factor in the cost of living 200k in california is worth less then getting paid 100k in sandy springs ga. money goes way further in georgia
I’m going now damn
So no plans to lower taxes?
Your cops make more than your teachers???? SMH......
if thats what is costs to keep someone in armed uniform to apprehend the murderers and rapists ...
Police officers should always make 6 figures. Police officers should start at 1 million dollars per year. Why should professional sports athletes make hundreds of millions of dollars to play sports and cops who fight crime and are in danger every single day only get 25-30k?. It doesn't make any sense at all.
For the grief the cops have to put up with and the b******* they're not paid enough
2% raise during 9% inflation - haha
If i were a cop I'll apply for Sandy Springs police department....
Good putting ya life on the line. You should make bank.
And if they screw up, they get paid leave
I hurt my back working for FedEx Ground and they wouldn’t even give me an unpaid leave to heal-!!!! I made $300 a week- saved 16.6k (with the 6.5 they gave me to shut up about my pain) and I couldn’t do a damn thing with it- may as well have robbed a bank.
*gotta make 3x rent to NOTbe homeless*
With a smaller force you can pay them more
True.
Most of them makes 6 figure and the ones that makes liss then 100k like 65k or 70k they got to make the other 30k secretly under the table of the police force in some ilegal ways
That's out of an LAPD mouth who is retired by now
watch out for jigs!!
I hope so... dangerous job...
This is what businesses do keep control of you. 75k is enough to be happy and comfortable. Studies show that more than that, and people start to feel STUCK in their jobs. It’s a mental thing- they can’t leave that kind of pay without feeling FOMO.
Listen to a few tech people talk about working for apple or Google. They’re perfect illustrations.
The thin yellow line of cowardice
Give me 100k and I still will not work for 12 😂
Good they deserve to be paid 6 figures damn they have a high stress and high death rate if any job deserves to be paid 6 figures it's LEOs 💯💯🇺🇸
I'm just asking. do you feel like you deserve more where you work at? or do you feel like someone with less experience deserve more money. what about truck drivers, hi-lo drivers, security guards, cashiers? no disrespect just asking. the police job is one job they choose to take like any other it comes with a no guarantee.
They deserve more than that!
That's INSANE.
Nah, not really. It's how you hire and retain GOOD officers. If you're upset you don't make that much, make yourself worth the income and go find a good job.
@@2KCamaroZ28SS how much should you think military personnel make?
That means people are spending money
That's a good thing. That's how you keep good officers on the street.
And keep the bad ones on payroll
Lol y'all all in these folks pockets 😂
Is America safe?
THAT'S A GREAT THING.. IT'S NOT ENOUGH MONEY FOR THE CRAP THEY HAVE TO DEAL WITH ON A DAILY BASIS 🙄 😒..
Thats b.s
Wow and it takes less training to become a police officer that it doesn't become a barber how much do Barbers make
Quality cops??. 🤣🤣
happy officers, happy civilians
"Police officers making six-figure salaries?" Better remember that before they empty their mags into an unarmed driver, 1 less taxpayer to put food on their table !!!!
Oh, are you talking about the one that was shooting while running from the police?
maybe the one that was shooting through the walls of his neighbor, almost killing her and her kids.
And cops still have the audacity to complain that they’re underpaid.
So what?
Sounds like Kingsmen
if they are...thats great
Good
Lived in Sandy Springs for a few years. Great area!!! Cops know what they are doing. You can walk the streets safely with your loved ones. For all you knuckleheads who think this is Mayberry, remember GA is stand your ground state. So we definitely have some insurance when the ba element slips through. A dead offender has zero chance of reoffending. It was nice to have officers more compensated for their risks. An unappreciated employee is surely one of the worst employees.
Sure, there's more people here but that translates directly into more taxes and revenue, does it not? Definitely need to provide more incentive for police, but at the same time the pay should reflect the quality of officers. *That said, I haven't met an officer here yet that's been anything short of courteous, professional , and down to earth. Then again, I'm not out there acting a fool either lol.
Also, if the pay were increased by a significant amount would it extend to counties around Atlanta as well? Only metro?
They just ought to!!
