Resisting arrest is never going to end well, regardless if the cop is wrong. That said; what the hell prompted this cop to stop this person/car in the first place is a reasonable question. Because without reasonable articulable suspicion of a crime he had no grounds to stop her, demand she shut the car off, or get in her car. Well... that's not *entirely* true: it must be a lawful order. The courts already ruled that you're not guilty of anything if you don't obey a unlawful order. For instance: if a cop tells you to shut up, you don't actually *need* to shut up, since you have the constitutional right to say what you want.
HOWEVER, the point here is, that, as long as the cop is reasonable, it's also better to be reasonable yourself. What that woman did was the opposite of de-escalating things. The cop said he had a call, so if she just calmly told him what she was doing there, none of this would have happened. Instead, she went full mental on the guy. What did she think was going to happen? Her whole behavior screams a very snowflaky self-entitlement, which is so rampant these days.

It is likely that the arrest was illegal and given that, her behavior is immaterial. If the arrest was illegal, the charges will be dismissed and even a hack lawyer will be able to get the city to settle in a lawsuit. What the video does not show (and would show if they had it, and since they did not show it, leads me to believe that they don't have it) is the officer receiving a report of a crime and the description of an alleged suspect. The only thing the officer says is that he is responding to an alarm. Responding to an alarm does not give the cop the authority to stop the first person he sees, even if they are black. To stop someone, the police have to have reasonable articuable suspicion (RAS). At this point, the cop does not even know if a crime has been committed. He only knows that an alarm went off (There are so many false alarms in the US that some cities charge the taxpayer for responding to them). Next, if he does not have a license plate or a physical description, what reason would he have to suspect that this particular person was somehow involved? Without a call to 911 with a description of a witness, what reasonable standard could the cop apply to discern that this particular persona was responsible for a crime when at this point it time it is unclear if a crime even occurred. Without RAS that this exact individual had committed, was committing, or was about to commit a crime, stopping her was a violation of her civil rights. If you violated my rights that way, I would curse you to high heaven and sue you. If the cop did not have RAS, a lawyer will have the charges dropped, and if he is a good lawyer, he will recommend that she sue. It does not matter how she behaved during the detainment if the detainment itself was illegal. Unless my assumptions about the circumstances are wrong (no RAS), this would be a slam dunk for a decent civil rights attorney and the taxpayers will be on the hook for the settlement. My guess based on what I have seen in similar cases is that this one is good for about $200,000.

For when the person whose car you jumped in front of and hit rolls down their window to ask why you are detaining them you answer their f****** question rather than telling them to turn off the f****** car
Five when they ask the singular word question why you answer their f****** question rather than opening their door hitting them in the sternum with your elbow as you steal their car keys
Six when the person you just assaulted is a little salty about it you explain to them why they are being detained as opposed to grabbing them bodily spinning them around and throwing them into the nearest trash cans

I taught my kids ( already older) to respect but to not let a moron cop bend them over, that girl is pissed off and with reason..... The sheriff says Deltona leaders contacted him about the arrest after seeing social media posts calling the incident an "overreaction."
Investigators say a sergeant was responding to a burglary call Monday - but he accidentally stopped one street over from the correct address.
In the video, you see the sergeant try to talk to a driver pulling out of a driveway when things escalate quickly.
"Even though he’s in the wrong location - he believes he’s in the right location. He’s trying to establish a report. She wants to drive away. He reaches in to turn the car off to prevent a pursuit or anything from happening to anybody. She just unloads on him with profanity," said Sheriff Mike Chitwood.
Officials say the driver is 18-year-old Iyanna Rollins.
You can see in the body cam video that the sergeant tries to handcuff her. In an arrest report, deputies write that she kicked him and struck him in the head with a closed fist multiple times. They also say she kicked another deputy trying to adjust her handcuffs. WHICH THERE WASN'T NO REASON FOR HER TO BE IN HANDCUFFS.... that cop is an idiot.

How is this arrest controversial? That girl was not following lawful orders of a police officer, and the cop acted in his best judgement to turn the car off, fearing if he didn't, that she would have tried to drive off! He barely touched her, and then she threatened to assault the cop by saying she was going to punch him in the face. He tells her to stop, yet she continues to be combative and resist instructions! Her behavior is unacceptable! Regardless of if she thought she was not unfairly stopped, you still have to listen to and cooperate with the police! What followed next, she completely deserved!

@@loko8045 Well, I don't like the fact he did that only because it's very risky. Cop doesnt know if the suspect has a hidden firearm/weapon. Desperate people do desperate things. She could take off and drag him along for the ride. However, I'll go out on a limb here and say he did so to prevent her from escaping. He didn't want her taking off on him and possibly injuring or killing someone out on the road in her attempt to evade the cops. Happens to cops quit a bit. RUclips is full of examples of people driving off on cops and crashing into trees and tragically sometimes into innocent drivers/pedestrians who were at the wrong place/wrong time. Don't believe me?
