@@arthurkashapov2298 Please no, the movie is a detailed breakdown of the same story which is meant to be one of the most interesting mysteries of the first 3 seasons. That mystery was the driving force that kept me invested through 2wei herz, and watching the movie straight up deletes it.
It only makes sense to watch the movie first if you were actually about to drop the show before shit got real. Pink has watched more than enough Monogatari to convince me that he'll make it through prisma normally with no problem.

Its not that different in Fate.
Sir Lancelot wishes to lessen the burden for his King, a wish that Guinevere also held. They talked with each other and later saw themselfs as friends. It was then that Sir Lancelot became attracted to her. He learnt the King's secret from her. Though the king was actually a woman, she had married in order to maintain the pretense that she was a man and the image of a stable royal family. Lancelot "the perfect knight", Guinevere, the queen who had made her beloved betray his duty, and Artoria, the king who blamed herself for her loyal knight's despair, all suffered from the resulting fallout. Although Artoria did forgave Lancelot's actions Lancelot himself could never forgive himself. (It was not just the affair)

Sabre pretended to be a man for most of her life as king. While she was married to Guinevere for political reasons she had no interest in her. Guinnevere, lancelot and Saber knew each other since childhood.
Sabre knew that the affair was happening but turned a blind eye. Which cause Lancelots madness since he despised himself for it and wanted to be judged.
Btw Lancelot is stated to be the best swordsman in the round table. This includes Saber, so hes actually better than her in a straight up swords fight.

So after this would be Fate Stay Night. Fate Stay Night is based off a visual novel with 3 separate alternate routes that were intended to be played in a specific order, that being the Fate (Saber) route, the Unlimited Bladeworks (Rin) route and the Heaven's Feel (Sakura) route. Only the 2nd and 3rd routes have good anime adaptations by Studio UFOtable. The first was adapted by studio Dean back in 2006, but it's not a really good adaptation, so no one recommends it. You could either just jump straight into the Unlimited Bladeworks anime after this or you could check out the Saber route in the visual novel first if you are so inclined. The Saber route is generally the route to serve as the main introduction to the cast, so it's the simplest of the 3, so you don't miss too much jumping into UBW after Fate Zero since Fate Zero does set up all the routes, but you will miss out on a lot of Saber characterization.

    • @nelisezpasce
      @nelisezpasce Месяц назад +1

Ufotable just made them look pretty, they're eye candy that wasted valuable runtime.

    • @nameless8789
      @nameless8789 Месяц назад

@@nelisezpasce I mean to each their own I suppose, but if you don't like the UFOtable anime adaptations, you were never going to like any Fate Stay Night anime adaptation to begin with, so it's not like there was any point in catering to please people like you in the first place. No one else could have done better. The UFOtable adaptations are as peak as it gets and the franchise reached a much larger audience because of them.
I could maybe understand you having some criticisms of the Heaven's Feel movies since some scenes with Illya and Saber had to be cut to fit the runtime, although I think it was perfectly reasonable to cut those scenes in order to focus more on Sakura since it's her route. Saber had more than enough scenes in the other routes so it's not like the Heaven's Feel route had any more to offer on her character than what was included anyways. As for Illya, it would have been nice to get a bit more, but they included enough to properly convey her character and even added a scene with Taiga talking about Kiritsugu to provide closure on that plot point which was not in the visual novel and which I personally find to be an improvement over the source material.
As for UBW, I honestly don't know what there is to dislike about that adaptation as it is practically 1:1 with nothing of substance cut out. Maybe they could have added a few lines of Shirou's internal dialogue when Archer rescues him from Caster or when him, Saber, and Rin had a day out on the town, but I think everyone gets that he has survivors guilt, so I don't know that there is a need to waste run time hammering that home anymore than they already did.

"No one else could have done better"? That's complacent mentality:
There are infinite ways to adapt stuff. Creativity has no limits.
I know sometimes people can be obstinate, and reject alternatives.
But just think of all the possible (although unlikely) scenarios.
Now forget about them! You can still be gladly surprised.
Giving people what they want is great. Predictable, safe, it just works.
Giving people something they didn't even know they wanted?
That's genius. Innovative. Risky, but it can pay off big time.
Ufotable already did NLBW better in the Realta Nua Vita OP in 2012.
That is one aspect to improve. They lost to their past self.
I agree that they elevated other things, but it's still hit or miss.
I implore you to reconsider that scary mindset of yours.
Things can always be better, but not everyone can see it.
Use a bit of "projection magecraft" and try to imagine it!

@@nameless8789 While I think the UBW adaptation gets too much hate, actually one of the more reasonable complaints was the direction being too lifeless, and honestly, when you watch Deen Fate and principally Heaven's Feel you can see why, it just doesn't feel as alive even with pretty visuals.
But if we're talking about Heaven's Feel movies, it just shouldn't be movies, the run time hurt too much. Besides Shirou and Sakura, every other character got shafted like they didn't matter at all like Rin, Kirei, Illya and even Shinji and Zouken, that just made a lot of climatic moments involving these characters way less impactful if at all.
The plot had too much many 'How?' and 'Why?' moments that are obvious in the VN like Caster and True Assassin but absolutely nonsense into the movie, Angra story just felt like a random exposition that only the knowledge of Zero can save you from not get absolutely confused.
The fights are good of course but Saber vs Rider being the best one is such a shame when it really didn't matter that much meanwhile Shirou vs Kirei barely looked like a fight scene at all.
I just find a shame in this case because they clearly had the potential to have an amazing adaptation if it was 24/25 episodes, it's already a miracle that they landed the overall feeling of the route tbh.
And I just have no hope for Fate/Hollow Ataraxia, even if Ufotable is capable of doing like SoL they would certainly cut most of it even if it's the main appeal of it.

Great reaction series Pink, only you could've got me to watch this show again after ALREADY rewatching it, they were that good. I did want to fill in a few things in regards to watch happened in case you were curious.
For starters, the point you were making about Kiritsugu's philosophy is basically what Fate/Zero was trying to say, it just threw that into a single line talking about how he ended up with less people at the end than if he had just saved people at the beginning. And since it was unclear, Kiritsugu used his last two command spells to force Saber to destroy the grail, meaning she lacked the mana necessary to stay materialized and since disappeared. In terms of how she changed, Saber went from someone who wanted the grail to change history by saving her kingdom, to someone who desperately wants the grail because she believes her rule was fundamentally flawed because she is unworthy, her ideals fundamentally broke her. And while I won't say why, unlike the vast majority of servants, Saber keeps her memories between grail wars.
In terms of Kariya, his case is interesting because after Lancelot summoned Arondight (which nobody knew he could do), it basically consumed all of the mana from that bug Zouken forced Kariya to eat a few episodes ago. This should have killed him since the bug was also the only thing keeping Kariya alive, however the grail gave him just enough energy to drag his dying body back to the mansion, only for it to run out right as he reached Sakura. I quite enjoy Kariya because I like characters that have nuanced motivations though ultimately are trying to do the right thing. And even though he didn't really fight that much, being able to fund a manamosquito like Lancelot is incredibly impressive. From my understanding Gen has a degree respect for Kariya, given that he essentially took the Matou family crash course and became a sort of makeshift magi who still got the bronze medal, despite all the suffering that he endured or was produced by his participation in the conflict.
Fun little fact about Lancelot: according to the Fate/Grand Order lore, Berserker Lancelot could actually defeat Gilgamesh in a one on one fight, making him one of the few characters in the Fate lore who's even capable of doing that (without some super flashy power from one of the spin offs that I'm sure I'm not aware of).
Finally, now that You've finally seen the final anime in what I call the "Urobutcher Trilogy" (that being S1 of Psycho-Pass, Madoka Magica, and Fate/Zero), what do you think of Gen Urobuchi and his work?
I'll leave you with the afterward from the first volume of the Fate/Zero LN:
Gen Urobuchi wants to write stories that can warm people's hearts.
Those who know about my creative history will probably furrow their brows and think this is a sick joke. Honestly, I have trouble believing it myself. For when I start typing out words on the keyboard, the stories my brain comes up with are always full of madness and despair.
The truth is, I haven't always been this way. I have often written pieces that didn't have a perfect ending, but by the last chapter the protagonist would still possess a belief that "Although there will be many hardships to come, I still have to hold on".
But ever since I don't know when, I can no longer write works like this.
I have nothing but contempt for the thing men call happiness, and have had to push the characters I poured my heart out to create into the abyss of tragedy.
For all things in the world, if they are just left alone and paid no attention, are bound to advance in a negative direction.
No matter what we do, we can't stop the universe from getting colder, either, and on the same principle. This world is only maintained in existence by a series of logical, common-sense processes; it can never escape the bondage of its physical laws.
Therefore, in order to write a perfect ending for a story you must possess the power to break the chain of cause and effect, invert black and white, and act in complete contradiction to the rules of the universe. Only a heavenly and chaste soul, a soul that resounds with genuine praise for humanity, can save the story; to write a story with a happy ending is a double challenge, to the author's body as well as the mind.
At some point, Gen Urobuchi lost that power. He still hasn't recovered. The "tragedy syndrome" is still continuing within me. Is this a terminal disease? Should I give up on the pure "warrior of love" that I have longed for? Or mount a pallid battle steed and reincarnate into a bearer of the plague... could it be that I can only create pieces that give men courage and hope in my next life? (When I wrote this, I accidentally wrote "courage" as "lingering ghosts". I guess that's what I get for using IME - Ah, I just wrote "IME" as "hatred"... is there no way out of this for me?)

Fate/Zero is a really great show and you can really feel the Gen Urobuchi vibes in it. Especially with Kariya, who reminds me a lot of Saya Miki from Madoka Magica. I always tell Fate fans that Madoka Magica is just Fate/zero with magical girls when I recommend it.
Gilgamesh getting his super anti-world out of his treasury is crazy and really shows how absurd the guy is. He has ??? number of Noble Phantasms, including a weird Indian spaceship, magic chains and a world-ending sword (+ good wine)?? You say he has the perfect counter to Iskandar, but honestly, from what we've seen in the anime, it's not hard to believe he probably has counters to absolutely everything. When he says at the beginning of Fate/Zero that the Holy Grail is already in his possession, most people think that he is just claiming Fuyuki's Holy Grail as his own. But I like to think that he actually HAS the real Holy Grail in his vault (that's funnier).
Anyway, Gilgamesh's crazy antics aside, I think he's really underestimated as a character by most people. Sure, he's arrogant and OP (and that's a lot of fun to watch), but he has a lot more depth than people give him credit for. In particular, his "values" are the most interesting thing about the character, and while I could go on for hours about how brilliantly Gilgamesh's concept and philosophy fit into the broader themes of the Nasuverse, I'll stop there because I think that discussion is better left for another entry in the Fate series.
Also Kirei is such a troll, giving Rin the blade that killed her father is peak prank. Though I find it concerning how much you think like him (Pinkcube evil arc?)
Finally, since the Fate watch order is complicated and everyone is giving their opinions, I'll do the same and throw this in:
Fate/stay night has 3 (sort of) anime, each adapting a different route of the visual novel. You should play/watch them in this order: Fate route, Unlimited Blades Work route and Heaven's Feel route. The Fate route is adapted in the 2006 Fate/Stay Night anime, but it's... really bad. Like really bad and boring and I strongly advise you not to watch it. So if you still don't want to play the VN, your only other choice is to watch the Fate/Stay Night: Unlimited Blades Work anime, which is also kind of bad. It's not horrible, and technically it doesn't cut that much from the vn, but it's bland and all around a pretty bad adaptation. It makes a poor choice to adapt the vn into anime format, and the psychology and themes of the characters are poorly portrayed (it does have its peak tho to be fair, but personally I believe the VN does it better). Also, I could be wrong, so please tell me if I'm yapping fake news, but I think the anime scriptwriter said he didn't understand the MC of Stay Night, which is... really bad ????? (and explains a lot of things). The Heaven's Feel anime (which is adapted into 3 movies) is good tho, sure it cut a lot of content and changed some things, but it's all for the sake of centering the stories on some characters and giving them proper spotlight (also the animation is fire). Though don't watch it without having seen Unlimited Blade Work, the films expect you to know the previous route.
But don't worry, to be honest, everyone makes a big fuss about the watch order, but the most important thing is that you have a good time 👍
So to sum up, I recommend playing the visual novel (especially if you like yapping about philosophy). But if you don't want to, then watch the Unlimited Blade Route anime and then the 3 Heaven's Feel anime. And after that, you're free to watch whatever you want in the Fate series (the Fate/strange Fake anime is insane, goes 200% into the battle royal aspect and has a ton of Fate/zero throwbacks, I'm sure you'll love it).
Regardless of how you plan to continue the Fate series (or not), your reactions to Fate/Zero were great. Especially during the second part of the anime, where you lost your shit with every episode. By the way, I'm going to ask (in case my comment appears in an episode, and because I think it's a fun question): who would you like to see summoned as a Servant in Fate? (And who would you summon if you were a Master?)

  • @nadie7800

The next fate series after fate/Zero is Fate/Stay night, the og.
The main problem is that Fate/stay night is divided by routes and the first route named fate was adaptated in 2006 by Deen and is considered one of the worst anime adaptation in the franchise, while the other routes named unlimited blade works and heavens feel were animated by ufotable, however a lot of context is lost by not watching the first route.

As for Saber, to me, it is more like the mix of his personal preference of blonde royal girl + his responsible as the watcher of humanity, how can someone with the position height like him not loving Saber, a lone saint figure and an extreme of selflessness who carry out tough and good deeds on her own with only few appreciation from others, because of no one does, so he is responsible to. Thats why all Saber like hero including Jeanne is blonde(just kidding).
Although he wouldn't show his serious face casually, and his logic is similiar to Rider, in his case wanna to teach her pleasure so she finally share his vision, screw all those moral acts, this world can not be saved easily, let them spilling evil in each other's face will do better.
About the spliting ships, it is refer to the diversity of humanity. Killing the evil/victim of system/loser side will not stop humanity from manifesting their chaos properties, by always pursuing fun they always build new ships and choose to board on ship they like, after sometimes holes/system flaw will appear again and it is time to work counter guardian(spoiler).
Emiya's doing is not wrong, human system fails to cage human's evil, someone has to do the dirty works anyways, but it is the same as softer way like chivalry, that alone too can't save the world.
But why human guts are full of evil? Maybe God's creation is aimed or accidented who knows, to create interesting plaything with emotion, hence both extreme side of the emotion is needed, just like how Ryunosuke sees God, thats why at the last Gil's speech to Kirei, your question will slay the Gods themselves, we are beast created by Gods, when truth is reveal, Gods will pay the price for that, just my interpretation tho.

The more I rewatch the ending of F/Zero the more I see Kiritsugu as a bum. The dude couldn't accomplish anything in his life before saving Shirou. He just kept losing what little he had because of his ideals and delusions. Only in his role as a father was he able to give something of value. But him being a miserable man is what makes his character appeal to me.

Heres some deep lore about Saber, and Mordred being Sabers child. Merlin using magic temporarily gave Saber a penis so she could have a child with Guinevere. But Saber was drugged and raped by her sister Morgan who wanted an heir to the throne to take over.
Mordred was kind of a homuculus as through the pregnancy and birth process she (mordred in a girl in this universe. In another Fate series where Arthur is male, Mordred is also male) was experimented on and altered. This caused her to grow up much faster than normal both physically and mentally, though it made her a bit unstable and did enhance her a bit.
Mordred then joins the knights of the round but Saber has no idea this is her child since her child wouldn't look this old yet. Later on Mordred reveals her identity to Saber and wants to named her proper heir. But Saber refuses. Mordred gets upset since she thinks Sabre doesn't find her worthy (which might also be the case). But the reason Sabre refused is because she planned on being King forever since thats what the will of the earth and the fairies who gave her excalibur wanted. She was immortal unless killed so she had no need for an heir.
Mordred being upset then causes the rebellion that leads to Sabers downfall.

I’m not that big into Fate lore anymore but if the grail can only use a method you comprehend, couldn’t Kiritsugu have used a”Geass” type of spell/contract on mankind? Probably missing something obvious here but it seems the most logical way imo
