I'm sure I'll calm down at some point, but like I said, new to the party. You are phenomenal. Singing your praises to any who will listen. Bravo sir. 🙏🙏🙏
Stunning! Passionate! Vibrant! Strikes me as one of your best, Bob. I originally learned this on piano, then later on guitar, and I did in ways intertwine the two over time. This arrangement, with your variations and improvisations, is the bomb! Just incredible!
It's a shame Montoya never had a chance to play one of these. Beautiful piece , Robert. Thanks. I'm curious as to how a Stick would sound with some stomp boxes in the chain . Might be interesting.
I can't stop watching your videos you are so amazing you show that this instrument is unlimited (of course if a genious like you plays it) and I assume hard work. But at the end it is so beautiful and gentle and I don't have really words to express my experience when listening to you , joel
You are amazing… I’ve can’t even listen as well as you play :). I hope to buy a Grand Stick ~soon. This instrument looks extremely challenging. A lifetime dedication.
Too bad that the name of this ARTIST is not mentioned in the title or description. His name is Bob Culbertson and he has produced quite a few CD's of music on the Chapman Stick. There are also several videos of him on RUclips if you search "Bob Culbertson", Yes, it is a fantastic instrument and Bob is a true artist on it.
You are still the BEST, love Michale formerly of the "Mannequin" & "I Thought", Era of centuries past. Continued greatness of your gift love always. MKMFOSB
Wow!!! Once again you've blown my mind! You've inspired me to learn Malaguena! I've never seen it on RUclips, but do you perform Prelude in G from Bach's Cello Suite No. 1? I'd love to hear it.
Robert is probably the best player of the stick. ( IMHO ) and like most experts he makes it look dammed easy which I bet it is not. That said I would love to have one if I had a couple of grand floating around, which i don't
My dad did this in the 70's... I'd bet he he wished he knew about this instrument, he did it the REALLY hard way. Laid down the bass line into a cassette recorder and then played guitar with the bass track into another cassette recorder.
I will start looking for lessons to play this instrument. I seen this at the del mar fair 20 yrs ago. And didnt know the name of it. But i want one. Rudedoge
I came across this instrument for the first time a week ago, since then I have spent a few hours listening to it, I am impressed with both the instrument and Mr Culbertsons ability on it. However the instrument does not lend itself to classical or flamenco pieces it sounds too clinical. That said a new instrument to me wow I cant wait to see how it develops over the next few years and I would love to get my hands on one.
Personally I think the Stick is really good for classical pieces, because it has almost the range of a piano and basically the same ways of expression as a guitar (vibrato, glissando...). But yeah, the sound the Stick produces (especially when put through a very clean sounding amp) is kinda 'sterile' compared to the sound of a nylon strung guitar and less percussive than a piano because of the way the sound is produced. I think it would be interesting if Stick players would try to plug the Stick into a full valve guitar amp that's on the brink of saturation. Just add a tiny bit of growl and grit to the sound.
Ghenghis khan Dunno, pretty much every Stick video I've seen used a very clean tone, although there were one or two that had a little bit of overdrive on them. A slightly pushed Fender Deluxe or Vox AC30 would do nicely, I think. Sadly, money's too short right now for me to get a Stick, but hopefully soon I'll get my hands on one. Cheers!

i love the versatility of the chapman stick! you can play almost anything in it! and you sir are a true master of this precious instrument

Very well played. I play this on classical guitar. This is amazing what I am hearing with the Stick.
It's a shame Montoya never had a chance to play one of these. Beautiful piece , Robert. Thanks. I'm curious as to how a Stick would sound with some stomp boxes in the chain . Might be interesting.
Impressive.....most impressive. I felt a ripple in the force. Seriously though, magnificent piece and killler execution of it.

That's brilliant.
Given that the song was originally composed for piano, it actually totally makes sense that this should be played on stick.
