The problem with this generation is no one wants to be responsible, so they blame everything on mental health. The very cause of that mental health issue is social media. If you've ever been associated with someone who is deliberately breaching what is considered normal by all reasonable people you won't be saying the things you're saying. How many children or young adults have sat down to ask their parents or care givers what it's cost them (not limited to finances) to care for them. The burden it is sometimes cannot be put in words and to have someone say just because you paid for my school fees. We will turn around and condemn them for not taking us to school but when they do it is rubbished because now we are independent. What do you imagine this father is going through? Come to the mental health side, I've worked in mental health for many years now, especially with young adults, in the west that you like to glorify soo much. A large number in fact I would go as far as say 90% of interviews conducted all tell the same story, they wish someone would've set boundaries for them long ago, they wish someone would've been honest with them about the trappings of social media and self discipline.
