I like that analogy - that you want to be the MANAGER of the house, rather than having the house be the manager. I agree, I want to be in control of my things... and then I was spending more time dealing with the house and having less time for the family. Yes, when you reap the benefits, that definitely helps one to stay motivated b/c everything flows better and stress is at a lower level with less clutter. Compound interest... exponential growth - yes, all of that. A great book is The Compound Effect, where you make little incremental changes and while it's small at first... it adds up really fast and leads to exponential growth! But once you free up your time from managing your stuff, then you have time for all the other things that you actually enjoy... or time to learn new things. Enlisting the help of the rest of the family also frees up time and things don't feel as overwhelming. The finance benefits also really was a gamechanger for my family.... I felt less compelled to buy more things and now we're able to save a lot more and invest and are almost done our debt free journey. It really is a snowball effect! Great discussion and advice.

Thank you so much for this thoughtful comment, Natasha! That’s really awesome that you have found more motivation from the results you’ve seen! I (Caroline) have not gotten too far yet in my journey and I’m so excited to see more results. And wow! The financial gain you’ve seen? That’s amazing. So cool that this can affect all areas.
