Granted, Ky having an install doesn't really make him *less* vanilla, it just means he's vanilla with sprinkles on top now. Also seems to function differently than Sol's did (or still will?), with Ky's being more akin to Kazuya's Devil transformation: you can only pop it at critical health, but it's permanent 'till death once you do. As for Sol, I can't imagine they'd go to the trouble of animating an actual Dragon Install form just to leave it as a momentary part of a super, but I guess we'll see.
I love how much of a meme Sol’s became after launch, everyone was so disappointed it wasn’t its own mode, but it just goes through almost every overdrive
I was literally having a conversation with my buddies in December about the idea of Ky having a dragon install, and now I might have to pick up Ky just for that reason now. Thanks ArcSys!
"He (Zato) sends out his shadow (Eddie) to do different moves while he's able to do certain moves himself. So that's a lot different from what he used to be able to do." Steve has apparently never played or even seen Guilty Gear before.
I think they either after every session of GG they play take a mind-wipe pill, or have guilty-gear-related short term memory loss, 'cuz this is not the first time stuff like this has happened. Even Max who was playing it just a bit ago has apparently forgotten everything from those 6 hour training sessions.
@@Valanway I mean, in some ways I can understand it. Guilty Gear is a game in which every character has some crazy bullshit that's unique to them so remembering it all is kind of a tall order. But that is common knowledge about the game so if you don't know something about a character, don't just make claims cause you're gonna look like a dumbass.
So here’s what I noticed when going back to look at the Ky and Sol transformations. When Ky got the install, they do mention how “he has to be at low health,” as though it is a last minute ditch effort to win. But with Sol, they didn’t specify that (even though he was also at low health). And these were the same inputs. So either Sol does have an install, but is done under different circumstances, this is Sol’s last ditch effort to melt an enemy if he is low on health (although it wasn’t specified), or they just turned his install into just a special and that is going to rightfully upset some people.
It's actually because one of his eyes is actually Sin's. Sin had troubles controlling his powers and it was due to his eyes for reasons? so the eye Sin is usually looking through is actually one implanted from Ky, and Ky has one of his eyes.
@@fletcherchristian1111 I believe it's from a novel, but there's a scene where Sol meets Ky and a young Sin and both are wearing eyepatches as they heal from the procedure. I don't see any reason not to consider it canon, especially considering that the super special gear eyes for Sin and Ky just so happen to be the opposite eye.
Keyboard warrior Dio I just think he’s neat. Can’t imagine trying to bring pretentious elitism to what character someone plays. Are we not allowed to eat pepperoni pizza because one dude thinks it’s generic and boring?
6:18 man I hate gatekeeping. A fighting game doesn't need to be nuts, all that does is turn me away from another fighting game I would like to play but just don't have the time or energy to learn.
The problem with that comes with the legacy players and the people who got into it after the fact *because* of the way the games looked and operated. People WANT Guilty Gear (and just about every other Anime-fighters) to be as wild and out-there, whilst also being fun, and don't want that to change-especially since every time developers have tried, it's either backfired, or didn't help their growth much at all, and at worst, hindered itself by isolating a lot of the initial fanbase (although that's a fighting game issue, not just an anime fighter issue.) It's the whole reason they got into it, after all. It's not gatekeeping when everyone who got into it willingly got into it, regardless of the barrier of entry integral to the game itself. It's more gate screening by the game itself, if anything. Besides, fighting games are all about the time, energy, and dedication to learn how they play, and how to get good. Even traditional and simple 1v1 fighters like Street Fighter have that first hill to climb. That's just how the genre works, and thankfully why legacy skill is so lauded; people who have it did their time and can reap the benefits. There's games for every kind of player, and it's up to the player to take the first dive in, regardless of any barrier to entry.
Every fighting game at a certain level will become hard and need time and energy to learn. Hell every competitive game does. Being nuts and being an asshole to players are different, GG series before has a lot of trashy stuff that clashes with the core game like FRC, character specific wake up timing, bnb being character specific etc. and YES I said it FRC is NOT a good system. A game can be nutty and beginner friendly, say BBCF, pick up Az and go nuts. ST is going a bit too far. Especially the damange is so high that new players are actually easier to get blown up.
A game having a high skill ceiling is not gatekeeping. If you don't want to invest time in it you can just play casually with other people your skill level and it will be perfectly fine, not everyone online is a freaking monster at the game, that's what matchmaking is there for. Games that don't have much going for them become stale. Not saying that's the case for this game, even if it is a departure from XX and Xrd
Man, they weren't kidding about Nago basically insta-losing when his thirst gauge is full, poor dude just handed that round to Ky there. Then again, he did do a few stylish combos in the process, so that was worth it.
The people most invested in this game (especially during this pre-launch period) are the people who were really into Xrd. The people who were really into Xrd are the people who really liked Xrd. The people who really liked Xrd probably want another game that's similar to Xrd, so they're disappointed when the new game isn't that.
Look at it this way: This game is trying to appeal to newer players. Who will people start out with? Sol. He's the main character. A super move that doesn't do damage but changes up all your moves' attributes might not seem the most beginner friendly for someone still getting to grips with the game's systems. Alternatively he may be in Dragon Install after the move hits or whiffs if the opponent it still alive, we don't know. But the input for that move is the Install input so...

@@sean_image it apparently only changes specials and that is probably due to it being a low health long lasting effect, rather than a short burst of high damage and Mobility, still a nice power up all things considered, I don't mind not having a full dragon install but my specials and supers doing more or even having different properties
That’s what happens when you eat out a gear.
I love how much of a meme Sol’s became after launch, everyone was so disappointed it wasn’t its own mode, but it just goes through almost every overdrive
I'm glad they were wrong about new people wanting to try this guilty gear. There were a lot of streamers who played this at launch and liked the game.
This is the best looking game EVER.
Welcome to guilty gear😎
Until Arcsys tops themselves again because of course they would lmao
@@darrylaz3570 True. I thought the visuals couldn't get any better than DBFZ.
So that's a lot different from what he used to be able to do."
Steve has apparently never played or even seen Guilty Gear before.
Watch Axel and immediately want to shout, "Zah wourld O!"
They took Johnny’s ponytail and gave it to Ky, now they took Sol’s Dragon Install and gave it to Ky
I love it
@Daniel Sohn took away, shortened, whatever
"Daisuke doesn't know a thing about the English language"
"He doesn't need to"
_Yes._
“Is Sol going to have Dragon Install back in Strive”
Well yes, but actually no
So here’s what I noticed when going back to look at the Ky and Sol transformations.
If they took away Sol’s Dragon Install, I just hope that he’ll still have a special victory screen for finishing with the new super
I wonder how they explain it in-lore, cause I'm pretty sure that the Dragon Install is Sol actually tapping into his Gear powers.
Ky did tap into his gear powers in XRD when he was shot
Dat Dizzy ass does something to a fella lol
It's actually because one of his eyes is actually Sin's. Sin had troubles controlling his powers and it was due to his eyes for reasons? so the eye Sin is usually looking through is actually one implanted from Ky, and Ky has one of his eyes.
The reason it called Dragon Install because Sol Gear form is Powerful Dragon/Creastation/Roach Hybrid that control Hellfire Magic.
Ky gets dragon install while Sin gets sugar water... Fair trade.
"Casuals are not tuning into Guilty Gear."
Me, someone who had never played a GG game in his life: "Now this looks like a job for me!"
That Ky disrespect was hilarious.
"And the L goes to...."
wait, where?
I think the lore is that that's Sin's eye in Ky's install. He took it from him to stop him from being too dangerous or something like that
2:55 Time stopped and Axl did Jotaro's pose...that was totally on purpose lmao
Pretty sure it's more similar to Jotaro's pose
@@SaikouShiva Yeah for sure it's closer to Jotaro's aggressive pointing stance.
@@Hedoro_Latoureux Oh, you're right, i've confused the poses. It's Jotaro's.
I'm so glad they talked over the video voice, made Ky's install reveal more surprising

Generic and boring. Couldn't imagine playing a series full of amazingly unique and creative characters and playing the lamest, easiest one.

6:18 man I hate gatekeeping. A fighting game doesn't need to be nuts, all that does is turn me away from another fighting game I would like to play but just don't have the time or energy to learn.
But the people who like games that are nut loses their series.
When Ky first went Dragon Install I screamed so loud my throat was on fire.
Nice pfp shiva
I really like these "Doods react" videos.
As a casual that appreciates fantastic art and design, I will be purchasing this game.
Man, they weren't kidding about Nago basically insta-losing when his thirst gauge is full, poor dude just handed that round to Ky there. Then again, he did do a few stylish combos in the process, so that was worth it.
People are saying this looks bad? It looks fucking sick, it's just not crackhead fast like Rev.
If rev is crackhead, whats plus R?
@@Quake2815 bath salts
People originally said it was bad because it’s a different game than before...now the same people are the same ones who can’t wait for its release
It should be faster than xrd though, with the lack of YRC and all,so let's see.
The people most invested in this game (especially during this pre-launch period) are the people who were really into Xrd. The people who were really into Xrd are the people who really liked Xrd. The people who really liked Xrd probably want another game that's similar to Xrd, so they're disappointed when the new game isn't that.
7:50 never ever heard of low health compensation in egg, just opponent was mid-air which won't allow a full combo with full dmg I guess.
Ky SMASHED Dizzy so much it gave him a Dragon Install
Hello Dizzy can I have Gear Cells?

Ky: Umm...

Sol: [INSTALLS] YOU CAN FUCK OFF!!!

Yeah, Max can be seriously ignorant sometime for no good reason.
I vaguely remember the joke behind Axl is that since he's an obvious reference to Axel Rose, his uncontrolled time jumping is why he was always late to his concerts. That's pretty much all that defined him as a character.
I think it'll be interesting if it IS good and becomes popular, but old heads don't like it because its different. I've always been more of a SF fan than GG, but prefer arcsys graphics / character design. So this game looks freaking perfect for me.
Its okay to complain about the simplified gameplay, but the doods didnt even play the older Guilty Gear that much. If they're a long-time and hardcore GG players, its understandable, but they're not. Even with the +R rollback, they only played it a couple of times. The recent GG streams i watched is from Sajam and Jiyuna, which i respected.
