I believe there was a comment I was referring to that doesn't seem to be there now. If I remember correctly, the person said that just because there are puppets in Avenue Q, it was not reminiscent of Sesame Street and that the person who said otherwise had no idea what they were talking about.
The handoff of Rod from John to Jennifer is like clockwork. It happens in a matter of seconds and it's perfect! Little puppetry tips and tricks is one of the reasons why I LOVE this show!

I LOVE this show so much! I listened to the whole soundtrack all the time after seeing it live almost 20 years ago. Knew all the lyrics by heart. Last night I saw it again at a small production in Toronto at The Medley. ❤😁
I'd like to point out that the camera crew did an excellent job of focusing the cameras on the puppets and cutting the humans out of the shot when possible during close ups. It might seem obvious, but that kind of framing really helps sell the illusion. I also love how all of the puppeteers only make eye contact with the puppets. It really makes them feel like a shadow of the puppets like they're supposed to. It's something I never really noticed before because my eyes were always appropriately drawn to the puppets. But if you do happen to look, the puppeteers are always emoting exactly like their puppets, and have their eyes where their puppets should have their eyes.
I saw this show in NYC while there on my honeymoon. It's great, I wish I could find it somewhere legit, not recorded by someone in the audience, to show my son.
Saw this off Broadway when I was 13 with my parents... my choice.. Loved it! Didn't know what I was getting myself into, though! 😂 But, I appreciate it SO MUCH MORE now that I'm 23.. 😂
