I know I am late to the party, but I just wanted to say - Well done! Excellent mechanical skills and very entertaining. Great foundational skills - in fact that shows mastery. I hope you have learned to bring in some musicality. If you want to know what I mean, listen to Buddy Rich's West Side Story drum solo. He actually intones the song "I Feel Pretty" on his snare drum. I saw him do it in person in the 1980s just before he passed away. He was amazing not only because of his stick control, but also because every song he played he complimented. He didnt just keep time. That is what makes a great drummer. They just dont keep time. You cant imagine that song any other way then the way they play and the song wouldnt be the same without the drums. That is Neil Peart's gift. He does it with every song. Best wishes for continued success!
@@yes-rn5sk well i forgot about this lel. I will say that currently there isn't anything here that i can't play technically, putting it together and transcribing it would probably be the biggest challenge.
Nick does Quad drumming I hope I wasn’t expected to know that because honestly I’m a trumpet player. I commented this when I was about like 13 so, thanks for teaching me something :)
+PaperLantern Visuals I don't think it's meter that I'm talking about. Maybe it's my phone, but it's not giving me enough clarity to hear the individual hits on skin from one tap to the next. Please forgive my ignorance in theory, on which I know practically nothing about. Hence, the lack of proper terminology. Hope this explanation helps in clearing up what I'm trying to say. But I do play a little, but only by ear and self taught since I was 11. Now I'm older than I care to mention. But think I saw the last dinosaurs tail rounding the corner. Play purely for the love of music. By no means am I trying to belittle his abilities, only to hear how good he actually is. If I've been given anything in music as far as ability, it's got to be in the way I hear. I wish it were in playing or singing, but I'll take whatever I can get and be happy for it. Hey, I got too much time on my hands. Ya thimk ??? (lol) Later bud, and keep playing.
+Lawrence Kedz Hey man. I hope my comment didn't sound harsh. It wasn't my intention. But yeah, I could see how you would hear that. Even on my monitors it sounds sorta clipped and distorted. The on camera microphone he's using isn't the best for recording marching drums. The environment where he's recording also really contributes to how it sounds. (The Gym wasn't be best place to do it.)
+PaperLantern Visuals Yeah, I totally agree. That empty gym is creating havoc with that mic. Just maybe, if he were 2 or 3 feet closer "or" even further away, maybe it wouldn't be so bad. What I got is a Galaxy s5 hooked up to a couple of monster Fischers. And as long as I power them up to about 35% and keep the phone on a 2 or 3, the sound is usually great. But hearing this recording like that on this end, does his playing no justice. That's just too bad. Real good drummers are not easy to find. Don't think I saw your comment as harsh, but definitely saw that I didn't explain my problem with this recording sufficiently. If you heard what I'm hearing on this end, I have to think you'd agree. Have a good life my friend and keep playing.
Danny Pendergrass No he didn't, they had a sneak peek of the 2015 drumline and he was there, he did not age out. The video is on youtube if you don't believe me just look up blue devil 2015 drumline.
Dude, all those red thumbs, they have no clue what you played, so you have to forgive them. Take it from an OLD BD. You are on the right track. Add some match grip, keep increasing your strength. Learn from the best (scojo) and ignore the riff raff. Also check out Danny Raymond Jr. and Jeff Prosperie for some additional stuff to incorporate. Strength and honor, good luck with the snare career ! All those rudiments? R and L sided? Guess what? It pays off in the end. \m/
The only thing they haven't mastered: Driving. And opening their eyes.. On a serious note, though.. vkxhgnkgfrihcfncjbmfgsksnjlbb He's way too good at this! I'm so jealous, and intimidated!! I thought I was good.. He sure knows how to lower a drummer's self-esteem and crush hopes and dreams... Wtf.
rudiments are solid. but all the drummers out there don't be discouraged and try to compete with this. when time began music obviously started with vocals and then drums. drums are inherit to all of us. everybody sings and everybody drums.
That shit is hard as fuck. But I must be honest, it got kinda boring because you were playing what sounded like the same rhythm over and over again with stuff in the middle. But still that shit is hard as fuck and I know I can't do it.
He's not the center, Andrew Zamora is the center and has been since the 2012 season. Kaito made the A corps, so I don't know where you're getting your information, but don't spread rumors if you don't know with 100% certainty.

+Anthony Jackson ikr, and I think one of the trumpets is behind everyone else as well.
+Chris Mathew and one of the sax's is flat

+Jesus Christ Wrong the drum major wasn't watching the snares feet.
+Anthony Jackson I don't know about you guys, but I couldn't hear the flutes

yeah, no kidding
he wore rist bands cause he thought the sticks would get tired and sweat

I love you Jackson. ❤️
10 years later and this is still one of my favorite snare solos ever
That snare sounds amazing!
"Nice Warm-up!" says Asian Dad.
Now I know what part of my bloodline I get the gift of playing from lol wow
Nick Fuck you.
NJI oh my fucking god 😂
Lmaooo
I think if this was recorded outside or somewhere besides a gym it would have much more appeal. The acoustics in that gym give me a headache.
Man and to think I though this was going to suck. Nice chops man.
He did end up marching BD, after all
Oh yea! Nice!
246 people were jealous
Very awesome. But damn that gym echo ruins it for me
Great solo!! Now your with BD and congrats on winning I&E gold this past season!!

Absolutely fantastic. It's videos like this that make me wish I had 1) gotten into drumming a lot earlier and 2) kept up on my marching chops
