I love finding a new idea, searching, and finding an excellent video already done by Samm. Rest Easy my guy.
You're seriously my favorite channel on youtube.
Thanks for telling me!
“Plus it’s freakin’ cute” - yes it is. I love this! Haha
Knowing how to use CNC machining opens up a whole new world of possibilities
jesus sam. u never cease to amaze me! great video
Ha! I had a hunch you were a local grom. I look forward to your contributions to bitchen. 😎
I once used a white oak plank from an aquarium canopy. Left the brass piano hinge on for extra slack points. 😏. We took it to backside of Blacks and fought for who got to use it next. No flex flexin 🤣🤣🤣.
Consistently interesting vids, keep it up Samm
thanks dude! might do something like this for a school project. its super cool.
I have been metal casting for years. I got into lost foam casting a while ago, making the foam blanks with a cnc router I built. The results have been pretty amazing.
If you can CNC the shape, why not just machine the aluminum? Unless you don't have appropriately sized raw materials, or your machine isn't good at it. Anyway that sounds cool! I need to get myself some better sand or investment.
+Samm Sheperd (SNRS) Hi Samm. It boiled down to, material thickness, degree of difficulty of the component machining time involved. I spent hours machining up single parts which can be cnc'd at much higher speeds and deeper passes with good dense foam, also you can make several dimensions to a part, glue them together and cast the final as one component with a very high degree of detail. Mercury marine make their engines using this method. You can even see the polystyrene foam detail in their castings. I think you are the type of person with the skill set that can benefit from these different applications.
Regards, Simon.
You do more with your hobbies than most people with their jobs
Whoa. You are talented, man!
I kind of feel bad just sitting in my chair and watching youtube.
Anyhow. Good job and thanks for sharing.
+Mr Wp most of my time is also spent sitting in my chair watching RUclips
pretty cool. I built a deck last winter and it came out pretty nice, still didnt replace my daily though.
thats so cool!
The car idea is genius lol
Cool!! Some time ago I wanted to build a longboard but I lost the interest In it. Maybe now I'll have some better Ideas for making it. Thanks for sharing your inventions
That's awesome!!! You could make custom decks and precision trucks and sell them!!! :D
I actually did a business plan with market research and profit analysis on the idea for my entrepreneur and small business management class. It is feasible.
***** nice!!!
super cool
Hey Samm. I only just started watching you but your projects are really catching my interest. Could you make a video showing how you create those compound curves in a design program? I have been a machinist for a couple years and have only been able to pick up the bare minimum of 3D cad programs (the basic block out then extrude shapes, and then all the cam stuff out there) I find it mind boggling how you are able to create these flowing designs accurately and I cannot wrap my head around how you do it.
Cool maxi pad board
Nice video! You've been posting more often recently!
And yet I'm still SO far behind making videos on projects I've already done or have very little left to finish!
Will you ever cover one of your long boards in to an electric one?
good question
Great video Samm! Have you thought about making an Electric Longboard?
I was creating fingerboard decks out of wood back in the day :D
bravo
You should try and make an electric longboard similar to a boosted board. That would be cool
A big propeller backpack sounds more fun
***** That's so crazy it might just work
ELECTRIC SKATEBOARD!!!
I'm sure that there some fans of your's that would buy some 1:2 scale longboard blanks that you made.
make a full scale one!!
time for an electric long board. also you 3d print and you smelt aluminum. how about loss PLA casting. I've tried it and it works pretty well
Yea I've been wanting to do that. Now that the weather is lifting I'm excited! I've already printed a youtube play button :p
Samm Sheperd awesome. cannot wait. just found your channel and your videos are great. I've done a little work with smelting and tried a loss PLA casting about 3 years ago with about 90% success. the failure was because I used greensand for my mold and should have used a sand and plaster mix for a hard mold. I plan to try again soon. I bought a cheap electric skateboard online and it's great but I'd love to make one that can go off roading as my board only works well with smooth concrete. I have a kit for a CNC coming in about a week I might exsperiment with making my own board. later this year I've got a glowforge laser cutter coming in and I wanna attempt a cardboard surfboard. look it up they are awesome. anyhow your videos are awesome keep it up.
Dear Samm,
F A N W I N G S!
have you ever heard of them?
Stefan.
Yes I have, thanks for sharing!
By aluminum do you mean alu-men-e-um?
That was pretty interesting. Think you might come back to that board and finish it down the road?
finish making mini parts?
+Samm Sheperd (SNRS) yeah, mini wheels and all.
Probably
+Samm Sheperd (SNRS) nice. It'd be a cool novelty in my opinion. Thank you for responding :)
You're making great videos and deserve a lot more views! But one thing thats a bit "annoying" is the fact that you sound like you didn't had any sleep the last week.
Interesting, noted.
you commented on his voice too? Lol, it's something diffirent isn't it :D
Combine the two things you love and make an Electric RC Longboard :)
Expensive parts...
+Samm Sheperd (SNRS) True true. Lithium Ion batteries are probably the most expensive.
awesome where do you get access to all these tools
+Boxxed Mause at my university
Can you send the files used?
1:47 kinda looks like a maxipad kyahaha
what's the difference between a longboard and a regular skateboard? sorry for the newbie question
+Ji-Sung Ko generally skateboards are thought of as the 'trick decks' used in skateparks, with the tiny hard wheels and such. longboards are much more diverse and besides usually being longer, they often have larger, softer wheels and have a laid back, smooth, cruise kind of feel. Though I think it's fine to call them skateboards.
+Samm Sheperd (SNRS) interesting. so are skateboards better built for doing tricks, and longboards for mobility? again sorry if this is an amateurish question
Ji-Sung Ko Yes you're exactly right.
+Samm Sheperd (SNRS) sweet! thanks for answering my questions
Were you limited by the size of the CNC router you were using?
The router I was using could have accommodated the full scale version. I would have needed to machine rotated 90º
OK. I have access to a 4' x 8' CNC router. If you were limited by the size of the machine, I was going to offer to help you make it full-size. How much spindle time did it take to make your half-sized mold?
Hah that was over an hour of machine time. I don't have access to that machine anymore.
Do you want a full-size mold?
John Hunt maybe, where are you located?
Now make a guitar!
+ArriCAT5e that's actually what that CNC machine was designed to do
