I work as a hardware admin, and I actually have a collection of broken motherboard and other PCBs in a box to make coasters like this when I have free time. I have collected a few different colors. It is great to see that someone else had the same idea.
@@CoderM3 I only started using it maybe 6 months back so they might've updated it a short while before I started using it. It definitely is more user friendly than some other CAD softwares out there
@@CASSDesigns Love it. I may do this with my DS87C520 silicon wafer and chip I bought a few years back that I was going to make a display for. Never thought of using a resin.
I don’t remember the exact model (it was a family members’ that I borrowed) but I’m pretty sure I used the blade that was for metal and it came with the dremel kit. It wasn’t too hard to cut through, just be careful and let it cut like a sander don’t push it too hard (if you’re planning on doing this)
What was the point of the silicone casting? It seemed slightly redundant, since you 3d printed the casing already. Awesome project though, I'm working on something similar
The resin actually goes above the black piece I printed, I used that black piece to cover the cut edges to make it look nicer then cast it to cover everything

A moment of silence for that mobo sacrifice.....
Now it's my turn to create my own coaster out of my ryzen build...
This is so cool! It's such an huge coaster tho! haha
Thank you! lol I know it's definitely not sleek
DUDE you need more subs this is awesome!!!
Thank you I appreciate it!
Same motherboard from my first build, I might try something like this. Awesome idea thanks.
Maybe working on a phone motherboard will be more thinner. Good idea bro.
Thanks! That’s definitely a good idea, and I do have a few old phones laying around...
its kinda crazy, I like 3d printing you like 3d printing, I like RC you like RC, I like computers you like computers, or were both just nerds!
Looks nice, I would put a rubber material or something underneath to keep it more stable
definitely! I was thinking some rubber or cork at the bottom
very beautiful!
thanks!
Dude, this is awesome! I'll be linking this video on my channel and tweeting it. 👍
thanks!
@@CASSDesigns I'll also be posting to my community tab in an hour as a scheduled post. 👍
Wow great idea, thanks for sharing!!!
Maybe add some rubber feet. Trust me it makes a huge difference for things like this.
good suggestion! I was planning on adding either rubber or cork to the bottom
Great job and nice video!
Thank you!
Looks really good
Thanks!
U should have used the cpu as a heating element to keep the coffee warm.
I'm looking into doing that for another video now that I know it's possible
Amazing greeting from Brasil
Looks brilliant! Subbed
Thank you!
this is amazing
I'm here from reddit :)
I am from viêtnamse and i like video.
Awesome idea! I may have to try that. I am curious what 3D design software you were using?
Thanks! I was using Fusion 360
@@CASSDesignsWelcome! Oh ok. It looked like a simpler UI than the F360 Ive seen in the past.

@@CoderM3 that'll look nice! good luck
Lol... Still use a socket 775 motherboard in my main PC
What model dremel and saw blade did you use?

Like it when you put your coffee mug on its #Intel coaster, while the real hero is coasting in your current mother board #AMD 😂😂😂

Also - if I cast it into the other bigger piece I printed it would’ve been hard to remove the cured resin from the print
You wouldn't happen to do commissions do you? lol
how much does it weigh ?
A little bit over a half a pound
Its not coffeelake processor...
true that is a missed opportunity
