no no.. the V10 Honda sounded the best by far. I was there many times, and I as a McLaren Fan, the Honda sounded really amazing. and it was the best engine back then.. not today :)
The most impressive thing about Alonso is how fast he still is. if you look at raikkonen and schumacher they weren't(aren't) really anything special at the end of their careers, but alonso is still at the top of his game.
Oliver My god, you're still stuck with these comments? Get over it, they've been gone for 12 years. Move on, F1's had a ton of different sounds ocer the years
No way they will ever bring these back. Through the MGUs the cars today are exceeding the performance levels of the cars back then by far. Imagine a V12 with an MGU, you'd easily reach 400km/h which is super fucking unsafe, imagine crashing at that speed, that'd be instantly fatal no matter the protection you install in an F1 cockpit.
They will never return, I was in Canada in 2016, the cars aren’t quiet now, they are so loud I wish I had brought ear plugs, with every car that passes, the ground shook and I could barely hear the person next to me, it was a great sound. Even though it might not be as loud as the v10 (I’ve never seen it in person) this sound is good enough for me
This video changed my life, I used to be shy at school and got bullied a lot, watching this video has given me the belief I will one day be a champion .
I love the Alonso's starts. I love how he drive. How he almost does not do errors. How he overdrives ALL the cars he drove. How he win all of his team mates on almost every race. Arrogant say few. What? He never put the fault on the team, but always said "that's racing". He inspired young drivers. He's not the funniest, or the kindiest, but for me, he'll always the best driver!
Actually cameras were pretty good back then, it's Liberty who for some reason convert 4:3 video to 16:9. For example - ruclips.net/video/1jnT4yGZeFI/видео.html
Nobody can predict the future, he went to McLaren, Renault, Ferrari, and McLaren again. Every driver dreams to run with one of these teams, but he was unlucky with the time
Eduardo Toledo his decision was correct at the time he made..later it turned out bad..! When JB made a decision to stay at Honda after 2008..he didnt plan or anticipate 2009 turnaround.
No, some decisions were really stupid: Leaving McLaren first time: Clearly they had a championchip car 2007 and renault did not. He left like a spoiled child, dumping on McLaren-Mercedes for not giving him Nr. 1 priority and became the key for the 100Million $ Penalty and loss of all constructors points. In 2008, the only win he got was the fake win by Renault, while McLaren won the drivers championship. Really a dump move just out of spoiled feelings. The move to Ferrari is understandable, the loss of 2010 and 2012 is not. The move to McLaren-Honda was really stupid, everyone said that they will not be on pace, that they have extreme hard times to catch the one year lead in experience by the other teams and guess what happend: 3 years of McLaren-Honda, 3 years of Alonso fighting Sauber. Well, at least he make 30 Million a year now. And the worst part is, he cant go to better teams, because he leaves scorched earth where he goes: Mercedes? Still hate him for 2007 (they payed the full fine for Mclaren back then). Ferrari? Disliked his attitude towards Ferrari and give him fault for 2010 and 2012. RB? Yeah, they only take their own talents.
I like the fact that even the slightest changes in throttle position was pretty audible in older cars. I can clearly hear Alonso nursing the throttle through those fast turns.
I was there in the main grandstand. I was only 5. That time i was just supporting the cars in red coz red is my fav colour so Schumi and ferrari were an instant fav.. That was 13 years ago.... It was the first time i ever watched a race live at a citcuit and not tv. I already bought tickets to this years Malaysia gp as it could be the last time im ever gonna see f1 cars on that track. I had to buy those tickets.. its a must go. Thanks to this 2004 race my love and passion for formula 1 developed and ive been a diehard fan ever since.. Im a Malaysian btw
F1 drivers still wanted it, but the Malaysian organizers had enough cause it wasn't profitable. Nowadays MotoGP and 24 hours Endurance races are held there.
If alonso is so special why did he get beat by a rookie in 2007 in the same car? 🙄 (i know they had the same points and same wins but the rookie had one more 2nd place meaning he beat the so called best driver in our generation as a fucking rookie)
He’s still putting in the work just as hard. Alonso is one of the best pound for pound drivers. This year the red bull/ Aston Martin is doing work. Alonso for top 3 for 2023 !!
The crazy thing about this clip is the Jaguar that Alonso battles with is Mark Webber who started in P2, but had an absolute shocking start. P2 overtaken by P19 and back again before the first corner.
Oh the sounds! Why can’t Formula 1 bring back the glorious sounding V10’s?? Make them hybrids if you want to keep costs down, but please give us these sounds back. It’s like listening to a piece by Mozart it’s that magnificent.
Listen to this engine, man. It's the last 6-gear car (alongside Minardi in 2005) to compete in the Formula 1 World Championship, and this one actually won the World Title
Formula 1 will probably never have an F1 chassis like that again. Love watching how he was able to chuck that thing into a corner like it was a hot hatch, regardless of the speed
I'm still amazed as fuck how they don't crash into each other at every damn corner. The car alone by itself is super hard to handle, but they also need to watch out for each other, switch gears, communicate with the team, see where to break etc. So many things going on at once. Maybe this is ignorant of me, but it seems harder than flying a plane. I guess learning to fly is really hard, but when you've mastered it it's something routine. While driving an F1 car seems like driving on a minefield.

In the rain he is matched. However in the dry i totaly agree he is king.
Unlike Webber who was shocking

Mike Sellen if he's not consistent than he's not close

The Renault V10 sounded the most unique among all of the engines during this era
Don't rule out the 2000 and 2001 McLarens!
R24 was the best sounding Renault V10 by far, it was really unique.
The Mercedes V10 is the best sounding.
no no.. the V10 Honda sounded the best by far. I was there many times, and I as a McLaren Fan, the Honda sounded really amazing. and it was the best engine back then.. not today :)

13 years ago already... Alonso is slowly turning into a veteran
Hommes d'influence That loves to make funny memes based on Honda hybrid engines!
Quelle influence !
"Slowly" - There are exactly three F1 drivers who started more Grand Prix than him.
He's been at it since '00 though.. No way you couldn't call him a veteran.
The most impressive thing about Alonso is how fast he still is. if you look at raikkonen and schumacher they weren't(aren't) really anything special at the end of their careers, but alonso is still at the top of his game.

Back when he had no GP2 engine
Diablo Chrome he called his Honda engine "gp2 engine" in 2015
Diablo Chrome Their engines are still vastly less powerful that F1 engines, hence the joke.
Konrad Daszkiewicz that was too much of a compliment, GP2 certainly sounded better although I believe they've gone Hybrid too this season.
VTEC kicked in

The car had quasi launch control software
Two things I miss from this video: Sepang and the brilliant sound of those V10 engines 🔥🔥🔥
For most of the F1 drivers and engineers, Alonso is a living legend. For most of the people ( losers mostly ) An arrogant good driver,....
Wow the camera quality makes it seem like this is from the 80's. Those T-cams really improved in these past few years

KÖNIG SCHUMACHER exactly ! Hamilton and Vettel are just 2 good drivers in fucking OP Cars lol. Alonso is a Masterclass driver in a horrible car.
Kinda hard to be so certain at this point, when the only time Hamilton and Nando were in the same car they were identical.

Also nice start from the jaguar as well👍
That jaguar started p2. Go figure mate
Correcting oversteer with by turning in more is crazy
Alonso has always been a beast when it comes to starts.
In race competitions all should drive the same car, if that was like that, Alonso now will have 20 titles
2004 F1’s best moments: superb Alonso’s start
2024 best moments: 30% of vehicles out within 20 seconds from the start

That gorgeous (light on fuel?) Jaguar though!
Driven by Webber, I assume.
Most aggressively brave F1 driver ever. & that’s what made him a mfk living legend
This sound is f1 peak. I absolutely miss this high screaming of a barely contained fury of an engine at 20 000rpm blowing ur eardrums as it goes by
Was that Webber in the Jag? he is crazy with those overtakes.

The guy in the Jaguar is actually my hero. He forced so many overtakes that actually helped Alonso to pass as well.
It's Webber he started on the front row and had a very bad start.
The way he slowed for that corner early and let the others take each other out to leave the path free.
