Just finished reading a book titled, Wild Houston. It’s all about exploring wild nature around the Houston area including prairie land, flowers and plant life, animals and park land. There is some historical information on how the landscape and things living in it have changed but a great emphasis on trying to restore native life of all types (except Native Americans). A very good read especially if like me you are a foreigner living on these soils!
Mighty good hook design clearly Right time right place Right presentation..and game on Yea I got my feet deep cut a number of times barefootting in rivers n streams..not to mention countless thorns to extract..
Yeah, this area is normally not under mud or water. This is all the result of recent flooding, so stuff that people left here like glass, tin cans, fishing tackle, is all sitting under that mud.
I moved to Houston 6 years ago and only once have I fished there. All my fishing is done on the Gulf. But the one time I did i went with my cousin and I got scared shitless. Pulled out a massive gar and what I was told a snapping turtle close to 200lb. We had to go in to pull him out. But the weather was chilly. No bugs. I dont know why more dont do it.
Definitely some of the thickest mud I've ever seen on the channel. That second gar had to be over the six-foot mark. Love the way that location looks and if I were to catch Gar that big there I would have probably made a mud angel on my way out! Great video as always!
Me and my girl was just fixing to go hit the creek! Then, I had to turn on RUclips! I guess it can wait until after your video! 💯 Gotta take time for Wildlife! 💯

Getting a little dirty is the understatement of the year. Nice catches. Those gnats are ridiculous. I can see them flying around the camera. Plus that heat doesn't make it any better.
Can't say I have. Somebody suggested putting wooden boards out. But honestly, the filmaker part of me takes precedent over the fishing part, and I know how good for the camera shots all that mud is.
@jameshutcheson4910 G-Shock is indestructible! You here that G-Shock marketing reps??? Seriously, those watches are great for this. The clothes were hard to clean!

If this is the spot I think it is, is all of that buildup from the recent storms? Normally you have to scale about 20 feet of bank on a 45 degree angle to get to the water there, it’s insane that it’s almost level with the water now.
@@wildlifefishingshow absolutely bonkers. Although, it shouldn’t be surprising since when I drove over the river around a month ago it was the highest I’ve seen it since Harvey, I think

I gotta give it to ya Brother. You fish the roughest conditions in the business. That would simply exhaust most people. The hooks are awesome.

What you need is some old boards to lay out on that mud. I had to be pulled out once, but my boots stayed there.

I get the dramatic effect of the mud but I can't imagine it's good for the fish's survival especially after a big fight.
❤❤
Fish will be fine
It won't have an effect on it

You need a mud version of snowshoes for your gar fishing from the bank. Maybe snorkeling fins would work. Or maybe you've already tried this.
