I can relate, I've torn both of mine, along with most of the other cartilage in there. They'll scope it out and it'll be fine in a couple weeks. For awhile anyway until you have to have it replaced.

As soon as I discover circle hooks from halibut fishing back in 1991 that is about all that I have used for anything bigger than ten pounds mostly catfish. I was using them before they "discovered" them at the In-Fisherman videos. I was using the saltwater version that didn't eventually go bad and rust luckily I never lost fish

This is the footage from like 1 month ago, I do believe but there's so much thought/consideration that goes into every detail that
to do justice to everything going on you almost could make a 3-4 video series out of this 1 monster catch? Like a safety video
about Not dying in the mud that you're sinking in? WHAT is the Rod -n- Reel combo you're running here & line? I know that as
you've grown that you've hand picked a balanced combo to suit your needs & I hope by dropping that here that I can begin to
select my own combo. The largest Alligator Gar I've ever seen caught came from ditches & runoff canals like this and a few
were even smaller. IT's crazy to think such a beast is cruising along in a small fairly shallow canal but these are low oxygen
fish that can survive in shallow/hot & stagnant waters. You prove it over/over but you also caught fish in the street sewer
I guess in the greater Houston area.... lol, the only time I've seen this sized caught was from a boat & also bow/arrows
were used a few time. THe Cajun's make what's called, "Gar Balls"..... they scrape the meat off the back & it's a cottony
type meat they roll into balls, add whatever spice, roll em' in flour/meal , and fry em' up .... they are good if I do say.
Be safe man & I'll see ya on the next encounter. peace & GB ALL

Hey wildlife don’t know if you will respond to this but have always wondered since watching. How do you end up driving home after a big gar trip. ie the dirt, gear etc. do you have spare clothes or towels etc. I know it may be a wierd question, I want to catch gar, I have my own car, just don’t want to get too dirty. I want to fish on the brazos near Bryan college station. Need to get carp tho so may have to travel to Houston my spots the creeks and bayous. Need to check out if the ground is sinking mud like in the video. Also need to buy leader and small bait hooks. I have two setups, a 6000 and 8000. Will I be ok, or may have to chase them along the bank w the rod.
