Hey man I just want to say you are my favorite fishing RUclipsr by a long shot! Your passion and appreciation to the fish is amazing that’s what a true fisherman should be. I love learning lots of new things in every video you post keep up the great work!!
Glad the thumbnail turned out great! What a beast of a fish to go with it. I hope your meniscus heals up more without any further damage. A great video as always and I look forward to the next!
I can relate, I've torn both of mine, along with most of the other cartilage in there. They'll scope it out and it'll be fine in a couple weeks. For awhile anyway until you have to have it replaced.
Awesome video, always my favorites! Your alligator gar videos helped me start my journey catching dinosaurs , got me a few 3ft to 5' 8" gar but haven't got a 6fter yet. Gonna try one more time this year! Thanks for all the work, education and dedication!
As soon as I discover circle hooks from halibut fishing back in 1991 that is about all that I have used for anything bigger than ten pounds mostly catfish. I was using them before they "discovered" them at the In-Fisherman videos. I was using the saltwater version that didn't eventually go bad and rust luckily I never lost fish
This is the footage from like 1 month ago, I do believe but there's so much thought/consideration that goes into every detail that to do justice to everything going on you almost could make a 3-4 video series out of this 1 monster catch? Like a safety video about Not dying in the mud that you're sinking in? WHAT is the Rod -n- Reel combo you're running here & line? I know that as you've grown that you've hand picked a balanced combo to suit your needs & I hope by dropping that here that I can begin to select my own combo. The largest Alligator Gar I've ever seen caught came from ditches & runoff canals like this and a few were even smaller. IT's crazy to think such a beast is cruising along in a small fairly shallow canal but these are low oxygen fish that can survive in shallow/hot & stagnant waters. You prove it over/over but you also caught fish in the street sewer I guess in the greater Houston area.... lol, the only time I've seen this sized caught was from a boat & also bow/arrows were used a few time. THe Cajun's make what's called, "Gar Balls"..... they scrape the meat off the back & it's a cottony type meat they roll into balls, add whatever spice, roll em' in flour/meal , and fry em' up .... they are good if I do say. Be safe man & I'll see ya on the next encounter. peace & GB ALL
Hey wildlife don’t know if you will respond to this but have always wondered since watching. How do you end up driving home after a big gar trip. ie the dirt, gear etc. do you have spare clothes or towels etc. I know it may be a wierd question, I want to catch gar, I have my own car, just don’t want to get too dirty. I want to fish on the brazos near Bryan college station. Need to get carp tho so may have to travel to Houston my spots the creeks and bayous. Need to check out if the ground is sinking mud like in the video. Also need to buy leader and small bait hooks. I have two setups, a 6000 and 8000. Will I be ok, or may have to chase them along the bank w the rod.
I admire that you are willing to get down in the mud to land and release those massive fish.
Thoughts and prayers for your washing machine
Power wash before throwing it in the washing machine
It's a good day when wild life uploads...
Nice re-enactment of evolution. One day, we all crawled out from the mud. 🤣🤣🤣 That Gar was huge! Nice catch. 🐟 🐠 🎣 🐡

That mud was treacherous, and that fish was a behemoth.

Interesting concept, pounds by the sound when gars surface. You have super powers.
Imagine being waist deep in that mud and a banjo starts playing
What do you mean that sounds terrifying

Where are you fishing at?
All I could think of is “smoke that gar and make some gar jerky”!
@JemicoTX that will never happen

Another great video. Yeah, wear a knee brace. Safety first. You can't enjoy your second favorite hobby if you can't get to your fishing spots.
how many lb main line you are using for this big fish ?
@@samouil I use 100lb mainline, 100lb mono topshot, and my gar leaders are 400lb kevlar braid
Nice catch what will u do when u get to 2ksubs
Look into Dr Barret Brown out of Texas orthopedics on Fannin st. in Houston. Top Dr list, he fixed my left knee up!

You tear your knee like 3 times a year
