    We often bacon and eggs for dinner on a Sunday night - a big fave in our house. Now my Mum (94 yrs old) is living with us she sat down and was sooooo confused. • @Alyssa-ye9mr
    @Alyssa-ye9mr 2 года назад +132

    This is brilliant. I wish my dad had done this growing up. So many times being hungry for hours and feeling like I couldn't just do GYO because as soon as he found out I had eaten something he would imply that I should have kept waiting until he was ready to eat and that I was wrong for not wanting to be hungry for an indeterminate amount of time waiting for him to decide when we would have dinner. Parents, if your kid is hungry and there's food they can grab and you don't feel like making anything for them for a while, please just let them do this.

    • @lapatti
      @lapatti 2 года назад +13

      In Italy we do things differently. We have at least 3 meals around the table, no matter what. I've never seen a situation like yours here because parents are judged if their kids get hungry, it's viewed as a dysfunctional family or something

    • @GuyG.KTalesOfAnimals
      @GuyG.KTalesOfAnimals 2 года назад +2

      I feel like some parents do this because it’s either that they’re having trouble picking up in spontaneous planning or that they want everyone to eat together or that their parents did this or a mix of those together, when I got into my teenage years at some point each family member ate when they felt so, family meals can be an essential part of maintaining healthy family rhythm, now that I am in my early twenties at my moms I understand having a meal together is a plus for me and do my best have some meals once or few times a week so I could maintain my family dynamic, yet sometimes I am full from something I ate earlier, so sit in table with them and have a nice drink and something to nibble on, I bet this could work with urgent GYO lols.

    • @GuyG.KTalesOfAnimals
      @GuyG.KTalesOfAnimals 2 года назад

      @@lapatti that makes lots of since for why people insist of having the meals together, some people forget the part of fitting the meal into the rest of the family food rythm lols go figure 🤷🏻🧑🏻‍🍳🍽

    • @ShadowMoon878
      @ShadowMoon878 2 года назад +8

      Here in South East Asia, we don't have family meals. Mum, aunts and grandma would cook all sorts of food in huge pots and the rest of the family can serve and eat what they want themselves, sort of like a buffet. And there will always be food around coz if your kids go hungry, you are a bad parent.

    • @Alyssa-ye9mr
      @Alyssa-ye9mr 2 года назад +4

      @@GuyG.KTalesOfAnimals It was just me and my dad, and we didn't have much of a rhythm. I think that was the problem. Meal times would never be consistent, I just had to wait for when he decided it was the right time for him regardless of my needs. That's NPD for you!

There's the 12,weetbix kid, the 14, 16, and so on. A.so very useful for same teenage bous after school. And you can eat them with butter and Vegemite/Marmite on top or butter and honey/ jam (jelly).
