When Ryan Stevens was just 15, his life changed forever. He developed tics, began having seizures known as 'tic attacks' and at the age of 21, was diagnosed with Tourette’s Syndrome. Ryan is now considered to have one of the most severe cases in the UK. He joins Holly and Phillip, alongside occupational psychologist Nancy Doyle, to talk about how his condition affects his daily life.
Apologies in advance if you find anything offensive during this clip, however, we think it is important to allow Ryan to speak freely.

How can the hostess apologize in advance just in case someone in Britain gets offended?? This young fella is an absolute gem ❤
Some people have thin skin because they choose to.
Because the UK is a totalitarian leftist cesspool?
As he has Tourette’s he could say or do something offensive
He coulda said something really bad tbh
@@hazots4731and he can’t fricken help it, I have it as well bro
What a nice guy. So sorry he has to live with this.
Those middle fingers are pure gold lol
Poor guy cant imagine how hard it is to live with this ❤️
So good to hear you say this ❤️
It can be very frustrating when people tell you how cool and funny it is.
@@janwynne-woodhouse5144well tbf it is hilarious
2:29 is a beautiful sequence
I hope his old manager sees this, I'm sure it's what we all think of him. Like if you agree 👍
Come back and watch it again 😂
He has to be faking it
why would he show the finger. That thing certainly can't be involuntary. And if it is then I think I might also have this syndrome
@@ungarbagebin facts
He's not too bad. I've seen way worse, tourette's tics than his... some scream, bark even do violent movements... he controls it very well actually
Tics can be terrible and paralysing at times but also look like a simple whistle once every few minutes- he probably has his bad moments too and this was not one of them
I've seen that too, where they bark like a dog or they yell out filthy words.
Some days will definitely be worse than other
I'm proud of him to come on TV and tell his life story
Besides his little outbursts he seems completely normal, I reckon it would be awesome working with someone like this.
This guy NEEDS to have his own RUclips channel where he interviews guests. He would make millions!
So many ignorant people in the comments thinking that this is not neurological.
People who have tics never ever intend to do what they do. Shaming or making fun of the tics does not help in any way.
I don't see a single comment that thinks this isn't a neurological disorder. Do you have an imaginary disorder?
Thank you for saying this!! I have 2 vocal tics and everybody judges me cause of this. God bless this guy!❤
@@kaceyolsen8350 LOL
why are you laughing?@@sweiland75
We are the ignorant ones, ive got ticks from skull fractures, this guy is bullshitting. 🤬🤬
2:29 I’m not going to heaven for laughing! I’m a horrible person! 😭
Me too..😂😂😂
Tics aside, he seems to be a wholesome bloke
One of my best friends live with this every day the way he is Abel to be happy and positive regardless of everything this horrific condition is never not inspiring
I dont have tourettes and I still can't find a job.
Come to Ireland and say you are ukranian , you will get a job , a house , a medical card and everything free ..And I mean everything

@@niall6759 For real??
I can't keep a job
Poor chap. Sounds like he has a naughty parrot living in his head.
lol that’s a good way to put it.
As someone with Tourette’s that’s exactly what it’s like
Okay with me. It takes enormous courage and strength to be able to appear on television and educate people about how it is to live with Tourette’s.
THIS is the worst case? Wow I know people WAAAAAAAAAY worse than this.
So for the uneducated like myself who don't have encounters with people like this what are you referring to?
in UK they say.
Good for you
He had the Michael Jackson version of Tourette’s.
😂😂😂😂 gold
@@STRANGERINMOSCOW1 Thank you!!! XD
😂🤣😂🤣
It’s not a joke
I think my 8 year old son has tourettes, waiting for an appointment with his doctor to get a diagnosis. I've been watching videos of people with Tourettes and it's making me even more sure thats what he has. He will sometimes blink and scrunch his face incessantly and will randomly shriek or blurt things out. I feel horrible because I've gotten mad at him in the past for his behavior (like when he is yelling or throwing things) and I know if it turns out that he has Tourettes he doesnt necessarily have control over some of his behavior. I feel so bad, he always had some behavior that seemed sort of like tics but they never lasted long and he would go months without anything. Ever since his dad left it has been more noticeable and a lot more often and from what I read stress and PTSD can make it worse. I feel like such a failure not looking into this sooner for my son 😔
You are not a failure! What a great mom you are❤❤❤❤ wish you the best!
As long as we learn from our mistakes, there's no point in shaming ourself
Reading your comment made me very sad. For your son but more so for how it made you think of yourself. Please don’t consider yourself a failure,
From reading that alone I can tell you really care and I’m sure you’re a great Mother and I’m sure he sees that too. Best of luck ❤
I have now found out that my son most likely just has childhood tics and should outgrow them within the next few years but to keep an eye on it. I guess it is quite normal for kids his age to have some physical tics which I didnt know about before. I so appreciate all the lovely comments from everyone, that really makes me happy. ✌💕🇨🇦
You are a fantastic mom and the fact your here writing about it you are strong and beautiful. Your son is so special 💙
She wanted to laugh so bad 😂😂😂😂 but he’s strong 💪 I know this is frustrating 🥺
Im only about 30% into the video but he seems to be kicking its butt 😊🙏🏻
You know dang well the hosts are trying sooooo hard to not laugh. Cause it's hilarious!!!
i have tourette first time people make funs on me but now i get lot of support
2:30 I feel bad but that tick made me laugh a bit love this tho 😊
I don't suffer from tourettes but usually when I'm alone I'll make strange faces open my mouth wide and just do crazy stuff like act like there's a bow and arrow in my hands
This is a terrible disability,Im curious if theres a study out there as to why they may think this is so bad in the UK,Id like to watch it
I actually never thought there would be pain from holding it in 🥺
There have been those who shout out obscenities or wildly hit someone they love - it's awful to have in any form but this fellow at least isn't offending anyone - do wish him well.
2:29 for quick reference
Thank you
solid timestamp my boy 😂
How did he get that tattoo?
@@lostpockets2227They probably put him to sleep.
Helio what is 229 ? Doesn't anybody speak in complete sentences anymore ?
It's like he can't stop his subconscious mind from expressing itself.
Its not even his subconscious mind tho, its just random brain signals
Many years ago i used to have tics every now and than but i do not have them anymore. They just stopped occurring and i have lived a normal life ever since.
At least he keeps the cussing down. I feel so sad for these people 😢
The birds he flipped at 2:31 😂😂😂
And he says it's driven by his surroundings. Hmmmmm.
I know taht feeling where a pressure builds up and it hurts very seriously to try to resist it.
I have RLS/WED, where my legs have to start moving at night, and it hurts like crazy to resist it.
im certain this man would trade everything he owns to get rid of this conditions, it must be so exhausting to live with this
He got that "Woooo" on point. Better than Ric Flair
Better than Michael Jackson😂😂
Worst part is most likely when trying to drink or eat. 😕
Despite having both Physically and Psychological Disabilities the Australian Government gave Me a job in the ultra secretive Australian Department of Defence, during which tenure the Australian Army attempted to recruit Me as a Colonel in the Royal Australian Corps of Military Police.
Regrettably one of My Psychological Disabilities prevented Me from accepting, something I have regretted ever since.
That was in 1988.
Bless him 💜
2:27 I am an epileptic and I have two kinds of seizures. My seizures are focal temporal lobe epilepsy… I am curious if he is allowed to drive or is he able to keep his focus on the road… I can appreciate being brave enough to bring this on television. I think I might have a difficult time telling the whole world about my seizures. This is a fantastic video Ryan. Thank you for presenting your point of view and answering questions. I thought your description of holding back a sneeze is absolutely perfect.
Im epileptic with one of mine being focal temporal lobe epilepsy also and this didn't occur to me so also curious, I'm only guessing as he's fully aware and conscious during his tics that it would probably be ok. My understanding is that I'm not allowed to drive as I also lose consciousness regularly. Curious if it is ok for him
this is so sad people making fun of this guy it’s not his fault his got a condition u got to put your self in his shoes would u like people taking the piss out of you err NO so don’t do it to him
Totally agree. People should start thinking how frustrating it is already for the sufferers, and to then be made a laughing stock through no fault of their own. There is something desperately wrong with mankind and its lack of empathy.
I don't care. Take the piss out of me. 😂
@@mailmanjoe I bet you’re a real hit with the ladies… 💩🤦♂️
So now I realize most parrots suffer from Tourette's too...
The Schofield loved that “silver fox”
I mean, shout out to the tattoo artist, who did an awesome job..even for a normal person it is very exhausting to NOT move while getting a tattoo...
2:32 imagine do that at the interview
i would like to have a friend like this
What a shame. That must be howling.
Ive had mild tics due to autism i cant imagine having tourettes whete theyre worse and constant
The ones i get are pretty rare
The worst ive had is my arm flipping up (one time i had a glass in my hahd and got soaked my psrtner at the time couldnt stop lauging)
The other id an eyebrow raise/twitch and my head might twitch
The wordt i had was a full body jerk that sent my phone flying across the room
There’s no Tourette’s in me the only thing I got is Asperger’s
Seems quite talented with his sound affects. Could do sound effect tracks for some cartoons and movies. 👍
0:51 no wonder he has got the extreme cases of tourettes
"Silver fox!" 😂
Bless him but just picture him and Pete from big brother in the same room 😂
But he is so sweet
thats ridiculous that not many jobs accept people with tourette’s in the uk. So many jobs here in the us accept people with tourretes or maybe its just the state of california because i haven’t been outside of cali before. But the coworkers I have are so used to and understanding of my tourretes and the regular customers as well. That theres no issue. I think they should make more people aware of tourretes in other countries it would make life easier. I have tourretes and i have 2 jobs and go to school. They shouldnt make it a huge deal we can still do normal stuff if people dont make fun of tourettes.
Maybe because they can get a disability allowance instead? Still wrong though, give the man a chance!
everyone: wow I feel bad for him.
people with ticks: (TICK ACTIVATION)
mine isnt diagnosed, but i cant even type without a tic occurring.
Some medications can give tics & touretts. My nephew went through that. It went away when he stopped the meds.
My goodness this is a lot ❤
Lovely chap he’d make a good entertainer
I want him as my best friend
This is definitely the beans and toast version of tourettes.
Bro liked being called "silver fox"😂😂😂
Hey Moe! Nyuk nyuk. A wise guy!
I have autism. You don’t “suffer” from autism - it’s a part of who you are.
Hi fellow autistic! You're absolutely right
The only thing I'd say I "suffer" from is the crippling anxiety which thankfully is doing better
@@borntoslay3996 i would not have been better off without autism
I have it as well, I was only diagnosed when I was 28, I’m 32 now and since being diagnosed it has been a LOT easier to understand certain things, my main problem is I can’t understand emotions and HATE being touched, to a point where it makes me rather angry
Others around people with mental illness, like Tourette's, may suffer though. Tourettes also may offend people who are violent and may lead to them being harmed. In America, where the Left has made an industry of offense and anger, it could dangerous. God help them...
@@LilFoxyCosplayEverybody has autism nowadays. It’s getting popular. I remember back in the 90s you very rarely heard of autism. Unless it was something now a film like rain man.
How do u get tattoos with out moving amazing
They need to put him in quiet place 3: make the movie more action packed and interesting
I really wanna know how his brain is wired. Like I won’t do something I don’t want to. What makes his brain do things involuntarily?
I know its not his fault, but i can't get over how he kept hitting on her.
Bless his heart ❤
Seems like a cool guy
That guy could become a musician
I can't imagine how it feels, and I'm learning ignore the tics in order to follow the conversation.
But, as harmless entertainment, the obscenity is magnificiently hilarious.
My nephew was the first person to be diagnosed with Tourette’s in the uk which was very upsetting even teachers would say oh here’s the kid that barks like a dog !!!!!!this only came about after seeing on a programme in America when on holiday .we were sent all the literature about it after contacting them .doctors in the uk we’re not geared up for this so it took sometime educating them .one doctor prescribed medicine but still didn’t know what it was ,which is ridiculous ,another doctor prescribed a medicine that was even banned ,so be careful guys .Ritilin was given to 600 kids in America many years ago as an experiment to stop Tourette’s …..600 kids died
If you are given medication make sure it is resperidol this is what’s given in America too .this does NOT stop you from working only uneducated people would try to do this !!!!
It is a condition so be respectful
2:28
Every time I see someone with this condition, they are from somewhere around the UK. Is there something environmental going on over there possibly
i was literally thinking the same
Torurettes is far more common for people who are close European decent
They got that super high grade tea
Trend is decreasing post Brexit
No
Isn't Lewis Qball from the UK?
it ressemble at parkinson at certain point and they have recrdescence of this disease, tourette too i think, it s two disease with stress and energic person. my brother have parkinson at 30, now 47.
How his tattoo artist done his arm?
This is where the vine came from
I would hire him immediately!! His tourette is amazing !! 🎉
He should work at a call center
Or as a tennis umpire
Too bad they think they have to edit out the the tics or don’t show him. 🤔🤔🤔
I like his squeaks and whistles .at least he doesn't bark like a dog, or yell out filthy words like some. Tourette's ...I thought they said that modern medication like benzos and SSRI s greatly helped Tourette syndrome
Poor bloke 🙏
Poor wanka
@@mailmanjoe idiot
Hed make a good school teacher
My children had a high school math teacher with Tourette’s.
There’s not much swearing so this doesn’t shock me too much , I’m sure there’s people far worse than this with Tourette’s.
The thing about watching people with Tourette’s is that no matter how mature I try to be, I always end up cracking up. It really is a sad thing, but I think these tv shows have Tourette’s people on for the shock value or humor.
Severe?!
You've got to be kidding me! 😂
IKR!! The most severe case(my opinion) is Jack Francis also from the UK. He's on YT and TT.
.
i wonder if smoking weed helps them like it helped people with parkinson's disease
How did he manage to get that tattoo on his arm?!
a full shot of bear tranquillizer
Not sure but there's some tattooers and hairdressers that have tourettes themselves and theirs a few on social media
It might be funny for other but I bet it is one of the worst things I have ever seen. Hope he does well, he has more courage than all of us.
I hope he gets a miracle soon but until he gets it he could act in a movie without a script🎥😏📽
I have tics
How do they anchors control themselves! That’s right their job depends on it
If he had wheels, he would be a bicycle
His touretts don't seem that worse
it may not seem bad but trust me, it is a much worse feeling than it is when it makes a 'tic'. i dont have it but i know it is because there is a yter that raises awareness for tourettes and she ctalks about a ''burning or tingling'' feeling when she is about to tick
3:35 really? it’s bad
I hope he's got tons of job offers after this interview!
What did he say at 4:56?
I think he said silver fox
Dude's prolly cool to chill with for a bit.
He seems fine , I've seen worse
