Andy Lau: 藕斷絲連 - English translation and romanization (see description)

- This is the animation video for the Andy Lau's song 藕斷絲連 ("Root Broken, Thread Remains") with English translation and Yale romanization. The title is a Chinese idiom - an analogy between a lotus root and love. Though the root may be broken (lovers separated) the thread remains (they still miss each other). If I'm not mistaken Andy himself composed the lyrics for this song.
It is a sub themesong for the TVB series: The Edge of Righteousness. The main themesong has the a faster but very similar melody, different lyrics; I did a video if here: • Andy Lau: 現實是場夢 with r...
English translation, video animations and the overall presentation were done by me. Static background image was obtained from Google Images search. The character in the background is from Sega's Yakuza video game series. His name is Goro Majima and if you have played Yakuza 0, you'll see this song's lyrics describe his past quite fittingly.
This is one of my music videos so be sure to check out my other videos and subscribe to be informed of future updates.

This is probably the most underrated song of all time. Never in his concerts well that i know of. I really miss cantonese songs 90s. Its all mandarin these days. Do i think chinese songs have lost its flair? Maybe im hk person and that is why i think that. Sure qian mian and wang qing shui are good..lei si ngor det lu yun w kenny g is good. I guess its the market. I think this is the odd pinnacle w other songs from his motorbike movie 1995 and thai boxing movie 2000. Ai bu wan canto also good. Yuan jin- Also a beloved canto song. Please kiryu character YUAN JIN. 😄. Andy is good w emo. Jacky is technical. IMO. Lols. I prefer Andy. I love your shirley kwan. Nan det you qing yun. Faye Wong- Lei Yut Foong. Monsoon.
Soo freaking wholesome, favourite era for Chinese music

It sounds vaguely familiar...not sure, but nevertheless great song. Thanks for sharing with us!
It's from a TVB drama that I wrote about in the description. Perhaps you heard the song while watching it?
@@lookatthesigns if it’s from a drama, may be I indirectly heard it while my parents were watching it 😅😅
@@victorkam715 haha that could be it. Here's the themesong of that drama: ruclips.net/video/ZpQezvA0itY/видео.html
Basically same melody but faster and different lyrics.

lookatthesigns What’s the name of the drama please?

Fun-fact: the majority of my viewers are from the United States.
Did I tell you the story of the world's greatest SADIST meeting the world's greatest MASOCHIST ???
The MASOCHIST begged BEAT ME.. WHIP ME
The SADIST replied I WON'T..I WON'T !!
I’m sorry to hear that
Ooh lol it’s a quote

SADIST don't you know ??
Can someone tell me the name of the tvb drama of the faster version of song? Thanks in advance!
2:55 attached or ATTRACTED ??
Attached is correct. The last two characters mean to miss or yearn for, so I chose to use attached.

You really help me to understand (dimly) the OTHERNESS of Chinese thought (and PRACTICE)

To court someone?
