One thing i loved about the soundtrack, and haven't listened nobody talk about it, is how they made villians themes acording to their backgrounds. For buggy a theme that sounds like evil laughs, for Kuro a song like a synister mew, and for arlogn a deep bass trap since he comes from the dephts of the sea.
I couldn’t stop laughing when you said you didn’t care for Sanji and after watching you said he was one of your favorite characters. I watched that clip few times 😂😂😂
I genuinely had a lot of fun with this series! I love the anime, but I have yet to finish it after starting it MONTHS ago! This LA stayed true to the source, made changes to keep it new and interesting, and had an amazing cast. I see a lot of people saying “it wasn’t perfect” but neither was the anime. And I feel like that’s what made it special. Can’t wait for a season 2
You reminded me of the problem I have with most Anime LAs, their stories are boring since they are trying to be direct copies of the original manga and anime. I want live action films to have original stories like the usual filler movies.
Every other director: wait, but that's not fair! He didn't change 90% of the source material and didn't push his own agenda and story. He practically kept it the same. Viewers: that's the point!
My opinion of Sanji changed much after the Netflix series. This flirty but not simp style of him is waaaay better. Its sad, that after the timeskip so many stereotypes where added to the charecters. Sanji, Nami, Robin, Franky and specaly Chopper lost a lot of there soul.
I've never seen anyone who cares more to their craft than Oda, if his work involved and going to be presented to bigger audience, he want to involved and make sure it stays in his vision.
Those descent live action are getting shadowed by trash adaptation from netflix -_- Like, light in anime are pretty charismatic and charming, but in netflix it just...... weird as fuck
I legit said that the only hope I had for the OPLA was Oda working very closely on it and having a huge say in everything, especially casting and scenes and the fact that the actors Oda picked had so much respect for him, the original anime/manga and the characters they play. So much that even out of character they are still in character, all combined to make the OPLA surpass expectations and I hope even if it did cost a shit ton that Netflix will let us get more seasons
This live action actually re-peeked my interest in the anime, I was never a fan of one piece because it had that DBZ style of conflicts/fights. You know the takes 40 episodes of talking before a punch is thrown in. But this series made me want to re watch the anime.
I had zero knowledge of anything One Piece. I had FUN!!! watching the live action. Literally smiled more while watching this show than any in recent memory. That means more to me than anything else. I'm not a smiler.
I’m really really thankful that ODA is very protective and makes sure that he’s involved in everything that is necessary. I remembered being worried about how it’s going to turn but then Goda himself said they’re not going to do anything without him so I knew it’s definitely going to work out perfectly!
It was so good and I am not a huge one piece fan. I only watched the first season I think when my ex roomates showed it to me. I honestly was not a fan of the artwork but after seeing the anime, it made me cry and find a joy in it (but think the over whelming amount of episodes scared me off from continuing). So when this came out I was hopeful and excited to give it a new try and so glad I did. The actors, filming, lighting, choreography and the music just all made me happy. I cried, I laughed, I enjoyed it thoroughly. I haven't had a recent series just make me feel good at and enjoy it as much as I did, I almost gave up hope that newer actors didn't know how to act. I was proven wrong happily. I could nit pic at things and wish some of the costuming had a bit more of the real life to anime line smeared together but it was minor nit picks. I fell in love with Buggy, Mihawk, Garp, Chef Zeff and Shanks (may be the accents but I'll fan girl and buy posters, t-shirs and plushies of them, k, thanks bye xP). For likes of the main crew I more so have respect for all five of them and how they play them well (I'll buy Sanji and probably Zoro merch lol). Just praying Tony Tony Chopper has a cute Detective Pikachu vibe, I'll buy merch tee hee >^^
Thanks for recognizing Alice in Borderland. I love LA One Piece, but I think people are forgetting that AIB is also an adaptation (manga and short anime episodes).
Fable is sooo good!!! I really liked your video i had to lol a few times! Also: Honestly as a mega fan there are many things that could have been a lot better but overall i felt that love for the project and enjoyed it. If many more people love One Piece than i'm perfectly fine with it. I could talk all day about one piece and since I get so emotional every time and hyped the start of LA a few of my friends and family started to watch the LA and anime so it's a win for me
The actor for sanji put soooo much work in to being the character. If you don't see that then u gotta get over the eyebrows. Also where do I audition for frankie
something i really wanna note about the fishmen look vs Davy Jones or Thanos or any of those characters you mentioned, those are all cgi, however the director, Marc Jobst, and Oda wanted the Fishmen to be practical effects, for all the fishmen they made custom prosthetic hands and faces, for over 30 people, for only 3 episodes might i add. The live action has so much passion involved with it, even during the costume design they were very intentional with each outfit being referenced from a manga cover or sbs artwork, also the amount of work it took to get a realistic depiction of Anime characters that didnt look like it was just cosplay
The live action movie was not that bad. But the mini series. Was straight off copy of the manga, it felt so odd to me, the I can't sleep episode and shogun kayo scenes that I used were from the mini series not the movie
^^^^ - This guy, not an anime or manga guy...but I REALLY liked this series...for me, it's making characters that you can love, and even the villains where likeable...Luffy, was by far, the best thing about the whole series, absolutely nailed it with him...this is the first series in a while that I can't wait to see what's in store :)
To be honest, the majority of people were hype about the series after the second trailer. I mean yeah, Arlong looked kinda weird, but everything else looked pretty good. Obviously there were a lot of nitpicks from people, but that is normal. And of course the show turned out a complete banger.
wow fun fact, i didnt know that, i read gantz the manga thoo , and its absolute madness, i binged it in 3 days and that was the best experience ive ever had with a manga
Tbh i was in the latter who was thinking it'll be bad and good, and was hoping it's not as bad as death note or aot, yet i enjoyed it more than the actual anime, like how they turned syrup village from a mid arc into a horror like episode was amazing, like kuro didn't made me scared in the anime, but the live action actually got me sweating like when he deleted merry i was like "no way don't tell me merry's gone!" and i actually liked how they turned kuros move into just early "shave" was very good
i agree with what you said about kuro, but syrup village is mid o.O , it was a good arc bro, and introduced ussopp in a great way that made him deserving of joining the strawhats arc, unlike the live action where he didnt feel like he did anything interesting that makes him deserve joining, in the manga he went through hell with kuro before joining
@@AruReviews while i agree with how they removed ussop's hammer and how they removed him getting hurt and still standing up to kuro, heill they even removed kaya standing up to kuro, but i still think that kuro was done better in this version and definitely carried this arc
@@lightningjadejavierKaya stood up to Kuro after running and hiding for a minute. But yeah, Usopp was a little annoying to me at the beginning of Syrup Village in the anime and an absolute chad in my eyes by the end. While I really liked what they did with the arc as a whole it really lowered the stakes and robbed Usopp of three great moments (telling the kids it was a lie, choosing to defend the whole village in secret and alone if he had to, and actually being the one to save Kaya).
@@nfries88 kaya yes she did stood up to kuro, but yknow what I'm talking about the part where kaya is still having some doubts and kuro tries to play it off for a sec, like i think that scene would've made kuro a 100% better of a villain in the live action
@@nfries88 i also loved the arc with how it's a dark esc horror arc with kuros theme song literally being like the prowler's theme song, and like when kuro pushed ussop in the live action they could've made it that kuro slashed ussop instead and usopp stands up bleeding and still willing to fight, like that would've definitely been better, and i also hate that when ussop's one piece logo showed up, they added "ussop hammer" which wasn't even in the show
In terms of character, Aarlong worked extremely well. In terms of fights, I was slightly disappointed there was no bite. But this and my other disappointments were only in the last episode, the rest was great
Pretty sure the reason why the live action has so much budget, is that they have to do a lots of reshoots, and they cost a lot of money and time. But turns out to be worth it though.
This video was fantastic, the Sanji part got me in tears of laughing so much, you just gained a new subscriber! Also if Hasan ever reacts to this masterpiece of a video, unban me in chat king, please
look to be fair on arlong the cgi on him would be so expensive the budget would skyrocket, thanos, avatar and stuff like that had massive film budgets to accompany it and practical effects were just cheaper to do
1:52 does Alice in Borderland also count? Because that series is even better than One Piece! Also, I’ve just finished Parasyte: The Grey (and later figured out it was from an anime as well) and it’s awesome! Definitely worth watching! It’s not Japanese though
Bro, no way Gintama LA is bad. The original anime/manga was supposed to be very goofy & crazy with cool action scenes sprinkled throughout the story. The LA version captured that perfectly. The fans love the fact that it didn't shy away from the goofy-ness because the point of the story is goofy-ness, full of parodies, out-of-the-box humour, 4th wall breaks, & silly plot twists. The seriousness, although it's there, wasn't the main selling-point of the story. No fans watching/reading Gintama to see Gintoki to be a king of something or becoming a leader of some organizations or taking revenge on some big bad boss enemy. The fans are watching Gintama for its goofy-ness & silly plot twists. Having the same reenactment from the source material isn't bad if it fits the theme. Not everything in an adaptation has to be a carbon copy of the source material, sure. But not everything in an adaptation has to be new either. There's a certain portion of how much the adaptation should copy the original & make it own thing, depends on the tone & theme of the source material. In the case of Gintama, it actually fits well considering how absolutely goofy the source material is.
ok, i was a bit harsh on it saying that it was trash, but hear me out, im the biggest gintama fan you ll find, i made that anime my whole life, even the name of the channel is inspired by the suffix kagura adds after every sentance, but still i didnt like the live action that much, i guess i need to make a whole video about this just to be fair and express my point, but at the end im glad to have gintama fans like me in here :)
I just got back from Tokyo, Japan. I wrote and directed a short film that is a live action adaptation of the popular Manga and Anime - Parasyte: The Maxim. It’s more like a prequel to one of the characters stories in the film. And grounded in reality, but still with cosmic horror elements. I’m an American director, but I made sure that it be as authentic as possible, so I have a full Japanese cast and filmed with an all Japanese crew. I’m looking forward to sharing it when post production is wrapped.

I cared didn't care to care at wci
In case you didn't know, Gintama is one of the LA that actually succeeded here in Japan.
This live-action turned me into a One piece fan, it's thAt good!
Same
Thank you for taking me through what it was like watching this stuff before release. Sp cathartic
My opinion of Sanji changed much after the Netflix series. This flirty but not simp style of him is waaaay better. Its sad, that after the timeskip so many stereotypes where added to the charecters. Sanji, Nami, Robin, Franky and specaly Chopper lost a lot of there soul.
I usualy dont expected too much from live action anime, but this one blow up my expectation ODA clearly did a good job
I've never seen anyone who cares more to their craft than Oda, if his work involved and going to be presented to bigger audience, he want to involved and make sure it stays in his vision.
The Japanese Death Note live action movies are pretty decent. Changes the back half of the story in a major way but its good.
Those descent live action are getting shadowed by trash adaptation from netflix -_-
Like, light in anime are pretty charismatic and charming, but in netflix it just...... weird as fuck
I watched the One Piece live action, and i loved it! So much that i watched the series and stopped at season 10.
I’m glad you loved it! Your view on live action was hysterical!
The casting director for One Piece needs to win every award, including best actor, best series, and the nobel prize for physics
This live action actually re-peeked my interest in the anime, I was never a fan of one piece because it had that DBZ style of conflicts/fights. You know the takes 40 episodes of talking before a punch is thrown in. But this series made me want to re watch the anime.
That’s Toei Animation for ya
It isn't abt the fights and stop the bs it's gud at the start it only gets bad post ts
Even then just read it
@@royalfun1031 I know Netflix one piece is a good show, if that’s what you meant.
@@droehnix I mean the anime
Manga even better
@@royalfun1031 I like it now I just couldn’t get into it when I was younger. Back when it was in toonami.
i trust oda on this one.. his masterpiece and greatness should be known by all people not just manga fans.
It's amazing what can happen when the source material is respected.
The way of the house husband is one of the best live actions ever made as well
I had zero knowledge of anything One Piece. I had FUN!!! watching the live action. Literally smiled more while watching this show than any in recent memory. That means more to me than anything else. I'm not a smiler.
I loved the One Piece live action.
I’m really really thankful that ODA is very protective and makes sure that he’s involved in everything that is necessary. I remembered being worried about how it’s going to turn but then Goda himself said they’re not going to do anything without him so I knew it’s definitely going to work out perfectly!
The live action helped me getting into the anime, and God if I liked it 💕🔥
Great breakdown!
I absolutely DIED at "Gordon Ramsey"!!!!
😂😂😂😂😂
tbh usopp’s actor really nailed his comedy and charm of usopp, he does need to get better at the serious moments though.
I’m happy you point out the good the bad and ugly up till release and that it isn’t perfect but it’s pretty good:)
This is hands down your best video
wow so i should make more videos in 5 days XD
I agreeee
@@AruReviewsyes we want more your contents
Both one piece and this review were awesome. Nice work sir! Subscribed! 🫡
Much appreciated!
I think post trailer, people were actually much more positive. You can see the like to dislike ratio on it vs the teaser for example.
Do not dare counting Ghost in the Shell among the good, pal.
I can't believe you actually called Zeff "Gordon Ramsy"
Alice in Borderlands was also top Tier adapdation
Aurora music was a freaking wonder, it’s trully incredible.
I'm ✨Cumming✨
Great video man, really well made.
Glad you enjoyed it!
something i really wanna note about the fishmen look vs Davy Jones or Thanos or any of those characters you mentioned, those are all cgi, however the director, Marc Jobst, and Oda wanted the Fishmen to be practical effects, for all the fishmen they made custom prosthetic hands and faces, for over 30 people, for only 3 episodes might i add. The live action has so much passion involved with it, even during the costume design they were very intentional with each outfit being referenced from a manga cover or sbs artwork, also the amount of work it took to get a realistic depiction of Anime characters that didnt look like it was just cosplay
the live action was amazing, I'm happy. ODA IS A GOD
*casually walking by*
C'mon, Gintama was exactly what it should be. 🤣
The live action movie was not that bad. But the mini series. Was straight off copy of the manga, it felt so odd to me, the I can't sleep episode and shogun kayo scenes that I used were from the mini series not the movie
@@AruReviews Oh, I didn't know there was a mini series. 🙂
@@dashalinda5724 you gotta watch it then...if you are a true gintama fan :)
I can see the high cost due to set building and CGI. Kudos to Oda he knew what to hold and pulled off a great show.
I love that you used a Made in Abyss ost towards the end of the video! Great choice 🎉
Thank you! 😄
Watch it
To be honest, the majority of people were hype about the series after the second trailer. I mean yeah, Arlong looked kinda weird, but everything else looked pretty good. Obviously there were a lot of nitpicks from people, but that is normal. And of course the show turned out a complete banger.
it was super goated, unique and fun :) keeps a lot of crucial information without leaving too much out
since you mentioned Alice in Borderland the director Shinsuke Sato actually
made some great anime/manga films like I AM A HERO/ INUYASHIKI/ GANTZ
wow fun fact, i didnt know that, i read gantz the manga thoo , and its absolute madness, i binged it in 3 days and that was the best experience ive ever had with a manga
straight up, the show became my background noise after watching 5x's straight
"People were pissed"
Influencers are content creators, not people. Either way they get something new to leech off from.
Good thing they allow Oda to have some control in to this Live Action which kinda help in a way
Tbh i was in the latter who was thinking it'll be bad and good, and was hoping it's not as bad as death note or aot, yet i enjoyed it more than the actual anime, like how they turned syrup village from a mid arc into a horror like episode was amazing, like kuro didn't made me scared in the anime, but the live action actually got me sweating like when he deleted merry i was like "no way don't tell me merry's gone!" and i actually liked how they turned kuros move into just early "shave" was very good
i agree with what you said about kuro, but syrup village is mid o.O , it was a good arc bro, and introduced ussopp in a great way that made him deserving of joining the strawhats arc, unlike the live action where he didnt feel like he did anything interesting that makes him deserve joining, in the manga he went through hell with kuro before joining
@@nfries88 i also loved the arc with how it's a dark esc horror arc with kuros theme song literally being like the prowler's theme song, and like when kuro pushed ussop in the live action they could've made it that kuro slashed ussop instead and usopp stands up bleeding and still willing to fight, like that would've definitely been better, and i also hate that when ussop's one piece logo showed up, they added "ussop hammer" which wasn't even in the show
Watching this video reminded me of Cilvanis' quotes from skits.
"Oda is a better worldbuilder than God"
Did it leave a lot on the table? Yes. Did it also blow expectations out of the water? Absolutely
In terms of character, Aarlong worked extremely well.
In terms of fights, I was slightly disappointed there was no bite.
But this and my other disappointments were only in the last episode, the rest was great
12:48 man I proper belly laughed at that. Good job.
Cromartie High Live action is fucking gold.
Thanks to Oda and Netflix for this Masterpiece of a live action ❤️🔥
Pretty sure the reason why the live action has so much budget, is that they have to do a lots of reshoots, and they cost a lot of money and time. But turns out to be worth it though.
Dude, you got a new subscriber
Couldn’t get into the anime one because of the artstyle and how goofy it is. But after watching the live action one it got me interested
Goda at it again. He's so good at foreskinning stuff hundreds of Episodes earlier, of course the live action was going to be amazing!
This video was fantastic, the Sanji part got me in tears of laughing so much, you just gained a new subscriber!
Also if Hasan ever reacts to this masterpiece of a video, unban me in chat king, please
look to be fair on arlong the cgi on him would be so expensive the budget would skyrocket, thanos, avatar and stuff like that had massive film budgets to accompany it and practical effects were just cheaper to do
"Gordon Ramsy" Got me HAHAHA!
1:52 does Alice in Borderland also count? Because that series is even better than One Piece! Also, I’ve just finished Parasyte: The Grey (and later figured out it was from an anime as well) and it’s awesome! Definitely worth watching! It’s not Japanese though
Good content deserves a sub🙏
Appreciate it
Gordon Ramsay!!???..😂😂😂
im most surprised that there were different directors for each episode.
Wow you got me hooked, where can I watch it when it's done?
@@AruReviews I'm in preproduction but planning to finish by November 15th. I self-funded by saving money over the last two years. Now, I just need a GoFundMe campaign to see if anyone wants to help be a part of the film.
I'll probably be sharing it on RUclips, but I will hit the film festival circuit, aiming for the Berlin International Film Festival first and then on to other festivals. I'll definitely keep you posted. Thanks again for reaching out!
Why does nobody seem to know about Alice in Borderland, its one of if not the BEST live action anime adaptation, and its ON NETFLIX, but yes the One Piece LA is amazing too!
Because its not as big as something like one peice.
0:30 this is cowboy bebop? 😂
The live action is the reason I am currently watching the wano arc. As I started the anime right after finishing the live action.
My sis and bro-in-law watched the OPLA without knowledge of the manga/anime, they loved it!
Я ніколи не дивився аніме але серіал сподобався та через це я зацікавився One piece. Деякі речі роблять не для фанатів, а для нової аудиторії. Кінець.
5:41 but let’s be real got is very realistic op is fantastical odyssey like they missed a lot of content
Don krieg picking up a whole ship one handed
Don krieg iron man suit with all his gadgets
Zoros training carrying giant boulders
Kuros speed force killing his men
Luffy picking up and tearing kneel from the ship
Sanji kicking and one shotting a seaking
Luffy swinging a sea beast as a windmill
Zoro getting run over by boat dragged across the Forrest
Like there’s so much crazy that Netflix skipped cuz it would cost a ton
Makes u wonder how much there going to cut for s2
I believe they need rings of power lvls of budget which is 400+ million 52 mill per ep
They’ll also need universal studios for there Jurassic work
the possible looks of chopper, jimbei and franky got me lol, the internet is really something else
"Even in real life he's this dumb naive..."
Let's hope iñaki doesn't see this video 😂
my buddy died a few nights ago when the live action came out. I wish he could've saw it.
May his soul rest in peace
