One Piece is the perfect story for "don't judge a book by its cover" quote. When I first saw One Piece anime in TV, I thought I'm done with that ugly animation and never see it again. But during Covid pandemic, I already watched all other the anime no matter how long they are, except from One Piece. I'm so boring for having nothing to watch and decided to watch One Piece. After finish East Blue, I can't stop watching One Piece. It is so good. I'm so satisfied when Luffy punch other villains and protect his friends, save the countries from the villains, giving everyone the hope to live with freedom and their dream, having strong willpower and unwavering goal. One Piece is so good and really fun mysterious adventure.
hello there fellow traveler, i just want to point out that there is a mistake in 7:56, the person showing in the picture is not Oda, I'm not sure why when you search Oda Eiichiro on google it shows multiple results of this photo, maybe the image is the result of a misidentification by a face recognition algorithm, idk, anyways apologies for this mistake. One piece started to be broadcasted on italian tv when I was at the end of high school. I would watch episodes whenever I could, but it wasn't easy due to the broadcast schedule conflicting with my school activities. I could really see the potential and I liked it a lot. I always thought that one day I would go back to it. But that day never came. When the Netflix series came out, I thought I could give it a try. I really enjoyed it and I can't wait to see more of it. As I watched it I decided to see if there was a collection of the anime dvds available anywhere. That's when I realized that the show is still running and it's probably impossible for me to catch up in my lifetime... Anyway, I hope the live action series keep coming and that they manage to be as good as the first one. I've always been a big fan of maps, world building and travel stories. I even have my own plans for a novel, staged on a non existing island which I designed when I was a teenager. Who knows...

@@bruhdude8076 You didnt understand my comment. I was talking about power system specifically, and how it fits the *pirate world* setting. Current power system looks more like dragon ball and doesnt look pirate at all. Old pre timeskip power system was simple and fit the pirate setting pretty well
There is only 1 japanese animation / anime OR even Manga that made Pirate Story. oda did that because he though "Why other mangakas are not making pirate manga?". Because it's not favorite story theme in the japan. Japanese people watched it because it is the only pirate anime at the time

The short answer is that One Piece isn't just a pirate story; it's a hero's story about someone who lives as a pirate with his crew. While the world-building, character development, and fantasy themes are spot on, the core plot is very simple: saving the damsel in distress while traveling. The deep plot is incredible, and after 26 years, we're finally getting to that.

Making something big doesn't mean its good, one piece's worldbuilding is large but far from good, it doesn't have a proper setting or a theme. Most of the islands are identical to real life cultures, example: the last arc's island is basically japan, crocodile's arc is arabic-egyptian, dressrosa is italy etc. Brandon Sanderson's books are really rich both lorewise and wb-wise, I reccomend Stormlight Archives. You can check the reading order from the net, if you read it let me know about it
