Looking back at "Miss a single license payment and we brick your entire network" Meraki. Thanks for keeping it sane Ubiquiti. Joining the requests for a proper merch store
Does that mean you will let us self host UID for free for more then 5 users just so we can choose who can answer a doorbell instead of "Only administrators"? Or self host Access without dedicated hardware?
That one i understand. They had a really nasty field update to do that required some pretty serious changes. They took a lot of time to get it right and not accidentally brick machines.
These would be funny - if we could actually get a reliable supply chain. The Canadian store is always out of stock, and the distributors don't seem to be of much help.
Seriously been saying that for years. I got an old unifi shirt back when I could actually buy one, and I wore it till I couldn't wear it professionally anymore!@@bcm50
Hey Ubiquiti...time for you to take on Barracuda. I've had it with 19 levels of sales agents, endlessly escalating off-site backup costs and the responsiveness of a moribund parrot. Ypu've effectively killed Meraki (they just don't know it yet) I nominate Barracuda Networks as the next target, Cap'n.
If the policy of Ubiquiti does not change, then they will become a serious competitor to Cisco. I have been using Ubiquiti equipment for 10 years, but so far only for wireless networks. But the main equipment is only Cisco.👍
I have some accountancy software, every year they impose a 7% increase to the license. This year they said we had to upgrade to their new cloud system, no option a year one increase of 700% - we are moving companies. I have no issue paying for hardware and software I have issues with people, who think they can generate their profits of my hardwork without giving me any benefits, or increasing. Their margins without justification.
Is it true Unifi Access is changing policy with more than 5 accounts and we will have to start paying monthly fee per user when using more than 5 access accounts?
Hello. we thank you for good videos, a short question Is it possible to administer the Ubiquiti USW-PRO-24 in any software without a Dream Machine or similar hub for incoming internet. Am in the phase of learning how Ubiquiti works and the only place I find to ask questions about Ubiquiti products is youtube. we thank you in advance and warm greetings from Sweden
This seems quite tone deaf, when unifi access/UID basically requires a $5/month/user to actually be usable in a business environment. I guess unifi’s commission checks will also be through the roof.
We offer several connection options with our UniFi Gateway Consoles. Site Magic allows you to easily inter-connect UniFi Gateways across multiple locations with just a few clicks to create a high-performance and scalable SD-WAN. We also offer a simple, single click connection with Teleport, and support other VPN options like Wireguard and OpenVPN. Learn more: www.ui.com/consoles

Worst part is, Meraki hardware isnt even that good... They put money into premium matte aluminum enclosures to make them LOOK like they are high end, but their numbers are quite bad for the price... And their cloud management is simplicity at a fault (literally didnt even have SSLVPN capabilities till a little while ago when they managed to shoehorn AnyConnect in...) It's awful...

Exactly!
Don't forget about fortinet
@@jamesmcintosh4664 Fortinet licensing is not that abysmal compared to Meraki.

I felt like Ubiquiti were the bad guys too, but they finally rolled out many of the UDM-SE features to the UDM-PRO. Been a satisfied customer.
That one i understand. They had a really nasty field update to do that required some pretty serious changes. They took a lot of time to get it right and not accidentally brick machines.
My god I love these 😂 also I need that sweater!

Jack Barker did so well with the Hooli Endframe Box he moved into Meraki product sales 😅
If you buy hardware, you should own it.
You should be able to use your hardware without paying fees unless its a optional pro version of firmware
Or additional services that can be optioned in, like CrowdSec partnership (please, Ubiquiti, PLEASE!) or something of that nature.
Not sure if everyone spots the Meraki appliance on the desk. Took me a second watch to see it.
So, are we taking bets on when this video will become a meme, just like "don't be evil" and "sharing is caring"

This is one of many reasons why i love unifi, i buy the hardware and thats it, dont need to buy stupid licenses or monthly fees.
Please make a merch store!
Please sell that sweater!
that is exactly the reason ditched all of those subscription based security services
I need that sweater too!
Was so close to sending this to one of my customers, however didn't want to bring back bad memories!

Shots fired Meraki! And, Unifi is better.
I will buy 3 of that sweater please!!!!!
For sure about Cisco Meraki!
Forgot to pay on time your subscription and you can bet your Meraki device go "black"

You can use unlimited accounts in unifi access always for free. UID was always a paid service
And thats the reason why I love UniFi!
Looking at you MERAKI!
Whew... here I thought you were going switch your business model to that of Meraki. haha
This is amazing. Im a Ubiquiti fanboy and proud of it.
Nailed it 😂
That's what unifi literally did to us. Lol.

You need either a CloudKey or a software controller. If you have a computer running close to 24/7 just install the controller and adopt your switch.
@@ii7317 Thanks for the quick reply, do you have a link to the software for PC and Windows
So why is airmax firmware so tightly locked down? I would love to be able to turn off airmax without flashing openwrt
LOL its like Mac vs Windows
This is NetApp talking to Ubiquiti
Every storage protocol (SMB/CIFS, iSCSI, NFS) you use needs a license pack.

UID is software not hardware. You can use Unifi access without UID
so this is what Packer has been up to recently...
They are throwing spat directed to Cisco Meraki.
Damn Jack Barker really fell off after Pied Piper
I was looking for the jack barker comment lol

Exactly! Our company uses Meraki devices, and we wonder if our licenses expire... It will be a huge downtime!
Fine example of Ageism.
This is why you don't buy equipment from Tood Packer

But you charge per user for uid in order to utilize the VPN service. Loved it till you did that
