Pro tip from a crackerbarrel employee: 1. As you probably know we have RV/ larger van parking 2. We sell certain medications and chargers behind the counter 3. If you don’t have utensils and want to make a togo, ask for cutlery kits! It comes with a fork, knife, napkin, and sometimes salt and pepper packets. 4. If you need directions you can always ask one of the employees. They are usually locals! Be safer out there! ❤

So in lesser female minds (saying this as a female who had to decondition myself despite CPTSD), the logic is that men are all L4D zombie bosses trying to chase and attack, and they will not attack each other so long as there's a woman. Well, you are, lol, but it goes with the territory of isolation that is common in this lifestyle. People are social creatures, even introverts, and require quality social interaction. It's up to you to find the balance you need, define "quality", and build in specific routines to fulfill these needs for your good mental health (which actually ties in closely with your actual physical health).
No, you are, your monkey brain needs social activities. Call your family and friends, have a chat. "She suffers the same way I do! That means I'm not suffering!"

@@dragonrider269 Your attempt at a cute play on words is dumb. People don't "sleep on top of a toilet". And any van with room for a toilet, can EASILY place it at a distance from the sleeping area. I KNOW because I've converted TWO VANS. Most people live in a HOME where the Master Bedroom has a TOILET LITERALLY 10' or LESS from their bed. The POINT isn't the distance. It's whether you prevent ODORS, which is readily done with a composting toilet where you can hear ENDLESS TESTIMONIES that they exude ZERO SMELL. ANY toilet in a van can be placed on an enclosed space and positively vented (e.g. PC Fan) to the OUTSIDE to ABSOLUTELY PREVENT ANY SMELLS. So WHERE you place a toilet can be irrelevant. Additionally, human beings can LEARN to PLAN instead of REACT to nature's call. That's how, in 6 months of traveling, BEFORE I HAD A TOILET AT ALL, I only ONCE had to dig a cat hole instead of simply using public restrooms in stores and gas stations. People are WAY TOO MUCH OF SNOWFLAKES OVER BODILY FUNCTIONS. They need to get over it.

Everyone fears assault. You just have to keep it in check and not let it overwhelm you. I back pack a lot and fear wild animals a little but after 30 years I have never been attacked by animals or humans.
My stuff doesn't break every day or even frequently because its well made. I used laundromats before having a travel van. I dont travel with pets for exactly that reason. I like alone time, but if I want to be with ppl I go to van meet ups or visit friends or family or make friends on the road. Sometimes I stay in parking lots as a convenience and I enjoy knowing that I'm not paying a penny to do so. In 3 years I've had to stay in a hotel twice due to repairs of my vehicle. Almost always when you tell the mechanic you live in your van they do everything they can to expedite your fix (had one mechanic take a part off another new car on his lot and use it for mine because it was going to take several days for the new part for mine to come in). There are some trade offs, you just have to decide if they're worth it to you. 😊
Finally some honesty; the American reality of too little or no ambition and just looking forward to the next Netflix series to binge watch. Funny things is, when one of you do "exert" yourselves to try something like van life, you realize that the first month of it exceeded the last year prior in accomplishment, pride and creating memories from living a real life other than on a couch. Weirder still, doing so is the cure for laziness.

4. I have found that Cracker Barrel’s are fairly safe places and sometimes we get maps that show where every Cracker Barrel is at in the continental United States, but obviously in this day and age you can also look at a virtual map. 5. If you need directions you can always ask one of the employees. They are usually locals! Be safer out there! ❤

@@dragonrider269 Your attempt at a cute play on words is dumb.
People don't "sleep on top of a toilet".

I’ve never cried from loneliness. I’m used to it. It helps to have a pet along
I'm a lonely female traveler we should travel together lol I cry all the time
Yall went from " oh I'm at one on the road and nature" to WTF was I thinking 🤣
I'm not even doing van life and I cry every day from loneliness. I also have a bf which makes it more depressing.
Love how women think theyre the only people who fear assault.
Me, who likes to travel and sleep in the back of my truck: I see this as an absolute win!

@@jocularsolid Damn bro you sure got me. Oh wow, guess I'll just die
@@3f4gs4s i dont really care if you do or not
@@jocularsolid ditto to you, my good man, lol
Thank you, but no thank you. Too lazy for all that, lol.
@B Miller well, i am a programmer, and my job is based around a fixed place, steady Internet, and availability. To switch to such a life I would not only have to overcome laziness. Also, I am not a American + I live in Germany were a Van life wouldn't be exciting, i would need to travel countries to make it be a "experience"
@@brianmi40 but other than that, yeah, agreed.
@@thatonefoxxy If your job as a programmer requires you to be in a static location, rather than simply have connectivity to do your the work required, then that's about that ONE JOB, not the profession as a whole, as I'm sure you are aware.
Employers have increasingly become aware that vast numbers of jobs don't require a person to be in any specific location to do their work, as accelerated by Covid demonstrating this.
Obviously once a "connection" is all your job requires, then it would become IRRELEVANT where you travel to, NO?
I'm quite sure you could capably do your C++ or Python, or whatever, from Spain or France, just as you could in Deutschland.
So, IF the travel of van life is of interest to you (besides being cheaper than owning a vehicle AND paying for an apartment), then perhaps you should consider changing jobs to one that doesn't care where your Internet connection originates from, and that you simply do the work when needed...
Guten Tag!
@B Miller yeah ik. But in the state, I live in home office newer was a thing, everyone either still came to the job with masks and space, or the shift was just canceled entirely. Also, I don't wanna rely on mobile networks or Starlink that much. I have had bad experiences with them. Xd. But I agree. Coding in itself doesn't require fixed position except if the job requires it.
Proud of you and jealous at the same time. Keep that spirit going and enjoy every second you have. You making your way is so much of a freedom that most people don’t or will ever understand.
When she's 40 and living in a van with 20 cats, I think she might be the one jealous of you.
What happens to your cats if your cats in the shop and you have to rent a hotel 😓
I think she finds pet friendly hotels. Theres a good bit of them now, especially for cats (they're pretty clean outside of the letterbox area)
If you check most of those boxes no matter the view, you will be sad and lonely majority of the time.
Shit, friends and nature exists and if you're living in a van you have all that time to think about your life
A little engineering and experience in vibration and stress analysis can help design internal components that won’t break due to fatigue and movement. But also thanks for the video, this is a very realistic and helpful insight into that world.
>Be a woman
>Cry for no reason
Being lonely in a van certainly doesn't make you depressed
@I have a gun being without Chad must drive foids crazy
