Join me as we metal detect the beaches of Atlantis in the Bahamas in search of treasure. Bring your sunscreen because the temperature soars over 100 degrees during this hunt today!

It was incredibly beautiful - I really enjoyed it. It was one of the hottest and most humid places I’ve ever hunted though.🥵 I was hoping for that doubloon too!🍀

The beach is a fun spot to hunt and you just never know what you’re going to find, a square coin or a giant bolt! Any way you look at it, you’re outdoors soaking up the sun and playing in the sand! It's up from 360p to 720p now. Noticeably better but still not the usual 1080p. Hello from So Cal - we also beach detect all year round! 😀
Thank you. Fancy new camera, and new royal pain in the backside editing software. It apparently defaulted to the lowest setting during the download without me knowing it. This second upload is the max setting it has. Think I’m going back to my old camera and editing software!

I love your digs. As for cleaning your finds you can use a cheep rock tumbler from harbor freight and some Lemi shine from the dish washer soap area at your local store, we also use stainless steel pins in with the stuff to be cleaned. This works really well on everything but zinc penny's the have damage. Some will take 10 minutes some will take an hour or more depending on what you want the final product to look like. Hope that help you. Keep finding the treasures.

9:57 it looks like there is a Pearl just above your scoop. Green ring was gold pated, gold has worn away down to the copper layer. 21:50 is an English 3 penny coin, usually referred to as a 'Thruppenney Bit'. It should be 12 sided. The bottom coin on the left row looks like a Canadian 2 dollar coin, they are a silvery clad circle with another coin pressed in as a centre piece and look golden. For corrosion, you can use tomato ketchup, fresh lemon juice or vinegar. Love the better resolution.

Thank you - it may be a few videos before I know. Most of my equipment is in storage, and it looks like it’s going to require an ultrasonic or tumbler to get to the bottom of those encrusted coins.
Wonderful to walk on the beach with you and do some hunting! Was nice to experience some sun and waves instead of the rain, snow, and clouds here in Wisconsin. Salt and white vinegar seem to be the best way to get the coins cleaned up. After they are all clean, be sure to soak them in distilled water. Otherwise, all that work was for not. Thanks for the hunt, and I look forward to the next one! 🏝

That is a beautiful beach. Dunedin beach in Florida's westcoast / treasure coast looks very similar to that beach with a lot of rocks like those corrals. Try using a 1/2c lemon juice 1/2c white vinegar and 3 Tbsp table salt mixture. Could take hours or days.

Hello again, Gin. We missed you. Great finds on this outing, coins, keys, jewelry & all...
I would probably recommend against any coin (etc.) cleaning...before checking closely for all dates, mint marks, origin, etc, if you can see them...don't destroy a valuable or rare collectible item...
...BUT, you could probably safety break off most of the crud with a good-quality ultrasonic cleaner unit filled to recommended depth with distilled water (and -optionally- a couple of drops of Dawn dish soap, added).
Beyond that, and ONLY on items of little or no value, you could use hydrogen peroxide (soak), or stick the items into split potatoes for a few hours/days... sounds crazy, but it works...

I knew you’d pop in with some good tips.🙌 Fear of ruining something old and cool is why these are still crusty…I didn’t want to do anything extreme until I figured out the best approach. I guess I’ll wait for a while to know what these are because my ultrasonic is packed up in a storage warehouse somewhere. Where in Florida are you, Doug? I might be nearby….😉🤫
@@LuckyGin I'm West/Northwest of St. Augustine (30 minutes) & South of Jacksonville (50-60 minutes), drive times, not miles....
Florida's "Gold Coast"/shipwrecks, etc.,
forts, Spanish trails, Civil War era (battles & camps), old & modern military encampments/based), beaches for detecting, parks, major river (St. Johns), lakes, etc., are all RIGHT HERE. Love it. This area is FULL of history & is historically rich with detecting finds. Back in the day, the St. Johns River brought many wealthy visitors to the area, and very prominent American figures invested here. Then there were Native American tribes & nations here in the vicinity. What's NOT to love about all that, for a detectorist?
Well, that's the summary, but there's more to tell...
I take a "laid-back" approach to all of it, but finding "things of interest" in THIS area is NOT difficult.
I've lived in major METRO areas, country/rural areas of the USA, too. I'm "home", here, ...FINALLY.
Ironically, my passion is for MUSIC (songwriting, etc.), though I never took formal lessons (long story). Maybe more about all that, later.
'Hope that gives you an idea of this part of Florida, and the reasons I came here (there's more to that story, but not important, now).
I'll help you with your passion of detecting, if you wish. You might consider a "second home" in Florida, for the area, the warm(er) winters, etc., AND it would give you a "base of winter operations". And don't let the "high price" of owning something in Florida put you off...there ARE inexpensive properties here, just like anywhere else...if you know where to look. I bought mine in 2016, and finished payments 2 years ago...it's not much, but it's home, with some "upsides", and "downsides".
That's a lot of info, but just to give you some ideas, for "winter thinking"... I'll always do my best to answer any questions you may have.

Such a great video from the Bahamas. I know the Gigmaster on RUclips uses electrolysis and a rock tumbler to clean stuff such as coins. He also has a travel scoop from Extreme Scoops that has a 3 part handle that he uses when he goes on cruises. He has videos on both.
I’ll check out that travel scoop, because I was REALLY wishing I’d brought my scoop. Totally regret leaving it behind.

Glad to see you back at it Gin! Hope your house is getting back to normal. Did customs give you a hassle about bringing your detector & pinpointer? I went to Jamaica last year and I sure wanted to bring mine but didn’t want to risk it getting confiscated. Glad your not getting overwhelmed with pull tabs and bottle caps like we do in Biloxi.

The Atlantis resort is incredible, definitely worth seeing. Off the resort is kinda sketchy though.

That beach looks familiar…my wife and I got thrown out of there and had to hitchhike back to our hotel! We went in August and I’m a Michigan boy used to the cold so it was really hot and humid!!

Soak the coins in vinegar for a few hours. Give them a scrub with a tooth brush . It should clean them up . If they need more soak them again.
It’s crazy, but I did try that one already and it doesn’t touch the crust on these. I’m gonna have to try a tumbler next I guess. Nice to see you - thanks for stopping by.🙂
